Rick Reyes, a nanocloud-enhanced being with peak physical fitness and superior mental and physical abilities, lives in a post-apocalyptic world where other similar people survive, trying to eke out an existence where over 99% of humans had already been wiped out in a global war that started forty years before. Everything had changed. Some countries had descended into anarchy, others had adapted and de-centralised to handle the smaller numbers of people, and yet others had concentrated their people into large cities, becoming city-states. Rick''''s home country of England had collapsed entirely, the USA not faring that much better. But Europe, Iceland and Canada had survived by decentralising their governing structures and agreeing on basic codes of conduct, letting each city-state govern itself.
