It is the year 272 B.C. Alexander the Great is dead, and with his passing marked the fracturing of his great empire into many kingdoms, all of them determined to live up to Alexander''''s power and glory in Hellenistic fashion. Our story is set in the Ptolemaic Kingdom, the Greeks who ruled over the lands of Egypt. Founded by Ptolemy I after Alexander''''s death, now succeeded by his son, Ptolemy II. But the younger Ptolemy''''s reign has been controversial, if certainly in part due to his decision to exile his first wife and marry his older sister.
