CHAPTER 32

  Chapter 32

Metropolis city, the day of the Citadel invasion.

“I like this 1, it looks stupid, I think I could whip it against a wall and it would still think I love it” Barbara watched as Komand’r chose a bloated stuffed dolphin from a pile of stuffed toys, “What do you think?” The young girl asked, squeezing it in her arms, Barbara glanced at Kori, completely unsure of how to respond.

“She didn’t ask you the question I did” Komand’r whined, Barbara returned her attention to the girl,

“Excuse me? Surely you didn't take me prisoner to appraise your toys, what do you gain from delaying whatever you have planned?” Komand’r stared at her, gritting her teeth, before tossing the the dolphin back onto the pile and walking closer to Barbara,

“Wanna know what I want?” She asked, Barbara leaned forward,

“I don’t care what you want, I just want you to leave” She said, calmly, Komand’r smiled,

“I’ll leave when she has suffered, once your people hate her for bringing death on them, when they fear her as a monster, and when even her new family curses her name, then I’ll leave.”

“Kara, it’s not just 1, there are dozens of those things throughout the city and a signal just went out to all of them” Rachel warned, the map in front of her lit up with tiny pinpricks of orange, Kara panted into her radio as she dodged an incoming attack, “This is way too much for you and Dick alone, you guys need my help” Rachel added, Kara could tell she was looking for permission,

“Barbara said to stay at the tower” She answered,

“That was before, but if you guys need me then I’ll just have to dispatch myself” Rachel said, a series of grunts came from the other end before Kara answered,

“Fine” Rachel replaced her headset with a field earpiece,

  “I’m on my way.”

Kara skidded against loose rubble as she threw her arms up to block another punch from the massive alien soldier, even so she was nearly thrown off her feet, before she could recover his fist collided with her gut and sent her flying into a cement pillar outside a closed bank.

Wondergirl was caught off guard by the speed at which the 3 Citadel soldiers were upon her, they had surrounded her before she had a chance to react, 1 threw a fist the size of her torso at her, she span out of the way barely avoiding the hit, she pulled her lasso free and ducked low as another massive fist came barreling toward her head, she wrapped the golden rope around the thick wrist as it soared above her head, she quickly spun it several times around her left forearm and yanked it in the opposite direction jerking the alien’s arm to a stop and sending him spinning against his own momentum, she pulled her lasso free and turned in time to see another giant fist coming her way, before it could hit its mark it was stopped by a large green hand.
