“Donna, Garfield” Rachel shouted, she listened for a response with her breath held, but none came, “Kori, Barbara, Kara” She closed her eyes tight and waited,
“Rachel, I’m back in the city” Kara’s voice came back, ragged
“I can’t get a hold of anyone else, where’s Barbara and Kori?” Rachel asked,
“They’re still back at the airport” Kara answered,
“They’re not answering, I’m gonna see if I can get an answer from Dick, keep in touch” Rachel said, she hesitated for a second longer than necessary, “Be careful.”
Robin climbed off his bike as the black helicopter lowered to hover a few feet off the ground, dirt and debris was thrown into the air by the wind from the rotors, 4 soldiers in black tactical gear dropped out of the sliding door on the side, an older man with a gray beard began barking orders into a radio mounted to his shoulder,
“Charlie squad has touched down, Alpha, Bravo, continue to LZ 2 and 3,” He said, before turning his attention to Robin, “You’re Robin?” He asked, though it was more of statement,
“That’s me” Robin confirmed, “I have my team working with search and rescue to help get non combatants to safety, I’ve got a second team working to infiltrate the Tamaranean ships and stall them as long as possible,” The man nodded,

“Our first priority is civilian safety, we have 2 other squads landing near 2 of the other bridges, we’ll start at the corners and move toward the center, on the way we’ll secure transport for mass evac, if we can get close enough, and get a shot, each squad is equipped with a anti-air, shoulder mounted rocket launcher” The man explained, he then introduced himself as Captain James Bartholomew, and the other 3 as Birch, Balisong, and Celeste.
“You should let the other squads know that we have a Tamaranean on our side, they’ll need to watch their fire” Robin said,
“Give me a description, I’ll pass it along” Bartholomew agreed,
“She’s got red hair, gold colored skin, she’s wearing a gray jumpsuit with an uppercase T on the left side of the chest, answers to Starfire” Bartholomew took a few steps away and relayed the information through his walkie, his squad replaced him,
“We have vehicles on the way, to clear the roads, but they won’t be here for a few hours, so we’ll have to go ahead before them” Birch explained, she was clearly the youngest in the group, the others were about to add something when they heard the bombs being dropped from the ships.
1 of the bombs hit the base of 1 of the skyscrapers on the bank on the opposite side of the river, the foundation crumbled and the building collapsing toward them,
“Move, move” Balisong yelled, the group forward as the shadow looked over them, Birch foot caught on a root and she started to fall forward, Robin caught her vest and tossed her forward, Bartholomew was the last 1 out, a metal rail came loose and struck his shoulder on the way down, and he was thrown to the ground when the building struck the bank on their side, dirt and water splashed into the air and rained down on top of them, Robin stumbled around, a little disoriented,
“We have to get back to the city” He said, Charlie squad nodded,
“Let me make sure my teams are okay, then we move” Bartholomew said, Robin nodded, while the the soldier was checking with his team Robin’s earpiece came to life,
“Dick, Dick, are you there?” Rachel asked, urgently,
“I’m here, is everyone alright?” Robin asked,
“I’m not sure, I can’t get ahold of anyone except Kara, she’s back in the city” Rachel explained, Robin cursed under his breath,
“Ok, I need you to stay calm, send me the last location of Beast Boy and Wonder Girl, I’ll see what I can do to restore contact with them, keep in touch with Supergirl and me, and try to regain contact with Batgirl and Starfire,can you do that?” He instructed, he heard Rachel take several large breaths to calm herself down,
“Okay, I think so, I’m on it."
