Chapter 6

  Chapter 6

Joining Apex Team Helios was a surreal experience. The morning after my victory, Track and Enny brought me to the Apex central quarters, a state-of-the-art facility reserved exclusively for the elite couriers. Excitement and nerves coiled tightly inside me as we entered the main lounge, filled with the other Apex couriers I'd admired from afar.

Track began introducing me, his voice steady and proud. "Everyone, meet Dion, the newest member of Team Helios."

The room erupted in applause and welcoming nods. My heart raced faster as faces I'd only ever seen on screens or in promotional videos came closer.

Team Zephyr approached first. Mika flashed an easy, confident smile. "Welcome aboard, Dion. Hope you're as fast on your feet as they say." Beside her, Ren offered a friendly nod but exuded a cocky confidence, "Better keep up, rookie." Joss smiled quietly, reserved but clearly friendly.

Next, Team Eclipse joined us. Rune, calm and collected, extended a hand warmly, "Glad to have you with us. Stay sharp out there." Val offered a shy, tentative smile, softly saying, "It's nice to finally meet you." Eli, relaxed but confident, grinned broadly, "Try to stay in one piece."

Lastly, Team Nova stepped forward. Jin gave a brief, respectful nod, his eyes sharp and observant. Aria's presence was quiet and cautious, but she smiled faintly, a flicker of genuine warmth beneath her reserved exterior. Quinn's demeanor was analytical and precise, "Welcome, Dion. Excited to see how you handle the challenges ahead."

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

As introductions concluded, Track motioned for silence. "Dion, it’s time you learned the truth behind what we do."

We gathered around a holographic table, and Track began to explain. "The packages we handle are incredibly high-value—medical breakthroughs, classified government documents, prototype technology—things worth billions. Competitor couriers, especially from SwiftEx, Titan Parcel, and Pioneer Express, constantly target these packages."

Enny continued, her voice soft but serious. "They attempt to intercept us mid-delivery, using aggressive tactics. Once they've stolen a package, they hack the tracking chip, rerouting the payment and credit to their own company."

Rune added solemnly, "It's cutthroat. The battles are real, the stakes immense."

Ren leaned forward confidently. "Your biggest threats are Jimmy from SwiftEx, Crate from Titan Parcel, and Trey from Pioneer Express. Jimmy's violent and manipulative—he’s obsessed with extracting genetic data from other couriers. Crate seems friendly but is nearly impossible to take down physically, and he's fiercely protective of his cargo. Trey’s the smartest of the three—a master hacker who can manipulate delivery chips faster than anyone."

Mika gave a supportive glance, "Stay alert, Dion. Those three won’t hesitate to make your life difficult."

I absorbed their warnings carefully, excitement mixing with newfound apprehension. "And your abilities—are they real?"

Quinn exchanged a cautious glance with Track before speaking. "They’re very real. Our enhancements aren't special effects—they're genetic modifications. Speed, strength, agility, enhanced senses—each tailored specifically to our natural abilities."

My eyes widened. I'd suspected, but hearing it confirmed still felt astonishing. Track placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "You'll receive yours soon. Until then, train hard and stay focused. We’re all counting on you."

I nodded firmly, humbled and determined. Surrounded by my heroes, facing real dangers and high stakes, my new life as an Apex courier had officially begun.
