I kept practicing with magic and creating all sorts of wonders with the water yet it lacked power and precision sort of like a clumsy giant.
~"Hold it! No more magic for today, any more and you might not be able to get out of a sticky spot and you would also start feeling the effects of mana drain. Your body holds a normal 50%, with channels opened you get double so taking any more than 50% will drain your natural capacity of it effectively sapping your energy, stamina, and willpower."
With the warning in place I stop and check my status... ~60% remains.
I take the rest of the day to relax and just fish for food, as well as scouting the nearby forest and making myself a relatively secure place to live.
So what's next Voice? I have time on my side and things to do like practicing magic control, I lack any motivational task or goal.
~”What are you asking me for? Well if you Must have one try building a raft using water magic techniques.
How am I supposed to do that?
~”Wouldn't be much of a task if I told you everything to do wouldn't it? Just practice it on your own.
Listening to Voice I take a moment and think a bit before attacking a decently sized tree nearby, just thick enough to make a couple logs for the raft. Concentrating I pull a stream of water out of the nearby river and shape it into the form of a blade then throwing it at the tree, while it made a well-sized notch into it lacked much of any actual progress and makes me too tired to progress for long.
Giving up on that I direct the water to flow around the base of the tree circling it in a really fast manner… nothing but a through debarking. After about three more failed methods at chopping the tree down, I get frustrated and use the water and my own arms to try and lift the tree out of the ground. All of this is quite amusing to Voice as he bursts into a laughter and disrupts my control stopping the wastage of mana.
~”Haha! That was a good laugh, heh. Alright, you really really need to work on that wisdom stat later. For now, return to trying to grind your way through the tree with water.”
Irked but I keep my calm and focus on the instructions returning to the debarking technique and just as before the water just gets full of bark bits. As I talk with Voice I watch the cloud of dust slowly settle and collect on the bottom of a glob of floating water and eventually gain the weight to break the surface tension.
~”Now tell me why did this fail?”
The water didn't have enough power to grind through the tree?
~”No because the water cant grind through it, you would pass out from the strain on the control of the water before you could generate enough speed to dig through the tree. Now tell me what can easily dig through the tree?"
Rock, stone and other such hard materials?
~Yes now dump a load of sand into the water and start grinding.
Doing has Voice said as I keep the water rotating around the tree I throw in some sand and slowly it grinds down sections of the tree. The method is effective but tedious as when i stop pouring sand into it in seconds all the sand falls from the water. This seems too ineffective for the 'almighty Voice!' to have as an actual method... Voice is there any way to keep the sand from falling from the water?
~”Try twisting it, bright stuff.”
Ignoring his sarcasm I try rotating the water in place but its much more of a complex task than I originally thought. As such, I was forced by my own stubbornness to spent the rest of the sunlight trying to control the water but only able to maintain the rhythm for around fifteen seconds before it destabilizes and the water literally explodes everywhere soaking me and the ground around.
Over the next few days was just a monotony of hunting and practicing water magic. It took about three days after getting the technique correct to dig through enough trees and shape their trunks into a decently sized raft. At one point I exchanged the sand for metal bits found on the first few days which by now has become a super-fine powder. No matter how fine it gets it's still just as effective at digging through trees.
After sectioning all the pieces of the raft together I prepare some fish and some strange fruit that after taking a small bite allowed me to dictionary it.
Comprehension class 20! I should have been checking my status more often.

~”What did you expect, you were learning many water techniques and applying practical knowledge to it to further increase its usefulness, to this planet you are doing exceptional things almost to the point of being an enigma... more than you already are as you did change from human to high human a day after simply appearing out of nowhere.”
What's with the skewed rise in abilities? I would've expected something more along the lines of equality on the distribution.
~"Its all based on usage, like when you throw with one arm you get better at throwing with it but that throwing ability isn't translated directly into your other arm. If you think of it along the terms of that you will do just fine. Though do remember that this is like a totality rule, as the only reason you got the strength boost was due to you having to move about and use strength to kill food and move logs."
Using the water and my own strength I slowly slip the heavy raft into the water and board it myself. The raft itself is quite stable and has plenty of space to sit on. So I sit back relax, take in the warm sun and snack every now and then while time to time I control the water to move me forward to practice magic. I don't pay any attention to the river itself and that is where my mistake lies.
Before I can take control of the water is pushed off into a small lake in the middle of nowhere and unable to return to the river as the current is too strong for me to control or fight.
The Lake is calm and peaceful, quite strange considering the animals that live here. I look back at the river and see the fish avoiding entering the lake as not a single one comes near. I trust their instincts more than my own so theirs either something toxic in this lake or something scary.
I slowly push the raft to the edge of the shore yet unease sets onto me, I throw the fish I have remaining to the sides of the raft and far out hoping to distract whatever is in here as I push the raft ever closer to the shore. Just when I get to the shore I leap onto it and just as I prepare to pull the raft out of the river I hear the water move and something large comes out of the lake.
Not giving this monster a chance I break into a dead run as I hear an ungodly roar escape from the beast behind me. I turn my head and get a glimpse of it, its body is shaped like a giant crab covered in scales, two antennae ending in black orbs, which I suspect to be its eyes, are pointing at me. Its large mouth holds spikes instead of teeth and it emanates the aura of an overlord.
POV Change (Bare with me its the first time I've done something like this, let me know if it's good or bad.)
Sunset, in the middle of the darkening forest a band of four struggling survivors traveling through. The four are all covered in dirt and many carry injuries but each press on and keep quiet cautiously watching the surroundings for any sign of danger. Unlike humans these are dark elves, dark skin and differences in the body give this fact away. Their leader Naria calls them to stop.
*Lets stop for camp here, Gilp see if you can scounge any food, Rilor and Princess set up the tents. I will cover our tracks and check for anyone, or anything following us.
Heading into the dark forest like clockwork she cleans up any marks of their arrival and starts making many more in another direction eventually settling it into a cave. Here she hastily constructs a campfire liting it allowing her to be fully seen.
Wearing a tattered set of leather armor with some metal added for support, her body unlike the rest is without injury but her physique is in tatters like that of a starving prisoner.
Nevertheless, with what seems like un-dying strength despite her condition she gathers her shortsword and heads back to camp.
Eating what little food they found and drinking in rations they head out next morning pressing deeper into the heart of the forest, praying to God that they don't meet any beasts they can't match. Two hours into their new days journey off in the distance a cry rings out.
*Over there! We caught up to them, keep pressing men.
*Silently cursing their misfortune Naria turns to her party and says, "Crap, we must have been lucky they didn't catch us in the night. all of you head deeper into the forest don't stop unless they catch up. I will buy you as much time as possible."
Not giving them any chance to speak she grabs her sword and a knife and rushes to a nearby tree dropping low and waiting for the party to catch up. Not but ten seconds later just as they pass her by she does a quick head count before lunging at them.
Five in total, taking the nearest one by surprise she bashes his head with the hilt of her sword, not lethal and gives her a hostage. Pointing a sword at the soldiers head she forces the others to back up.
*One of the men with a blood red triangle stitched onto the front of his leather chest plate speaks to her, "Listen, nobody has to get hurt just let the poor guy go and you can walk away from here. Look you're already so tattered just take his rations, it's in the backpack. All we want is your princess as our prince demands of us."
*Looking swayed for a moment she snaps back to reality and stares at the man, "I can't betray them, especially not after traveling so far and losing so many people just to give it up here."
*Not settled with her refusal he tries once more to persuade her into leaving, "Please just listen to reason you know what dangers this wretched forest has, if you leave the princess with us I can promise she won't be harmed. She will have many more chances at survival in the future..."
*Knowing she refuses to give in he eventually just sighs and says,"Jake, Philip chase after them I and Ryan will finish here, pray the new guy lives through this."
Seeing them break apart and her delayed for a time no longer usable after the two men leave she lunges at the subordinate intending to overpower him. To her surprise, he simply grins and slams her blade from her hand with his own, much stronger and faster than she originally thought.
She backs up a couple paces but he advances like lightning, using his sword he stabs at her. Wincing she raises her arms to try and mitigate the damage, surprised at this the man tries to retract the strike but it follows through.
As she screams in pain the man curses that he didn't mean to hurt her. she back up but due to the blow her stability is gone and she falls to the floor. Trying to rise and struggle with them more the other man lands a blow to her head knocking her down to the floor not to get back up again.
