280. FIRE (2)

“Any reason for the meteor, Light-kun? Like, I bet you have a thousand different ways to destroy that entire building within seconds, but why that specifically?” asks Lily, feeling a bit confused.

“Hmm, if I have to say, it’s because that’s what I did during my. . . you know? I kinda wanna see how viable it is to be used in actual combat! It seems slow, so next time I’m gonna have to start pulling it discreetly during the thick of a fight and fasten its traveling speed to actually hit the target. I also have to be mindful of the location whenever I am thinking of using this attack. Like if we’re fighting in a dense city full of people, this is definitely a no-go.”

  “I-Is that so?”

Lily sounded nervous, and Light caught on that.

“C-Calm down, Lily! I won’t go berserk ever again! I’d only hurt you if I lose myself, and I don’t want that. . .” said Light with a saddened face.

  “I-I see. . .” answers Lily, awkwardly.

Light continues talking to delete the awkward tension between them.

“Remember that the Seventh Judge also witnessed this back then? Maybe he could see this gigantic meteor approaching Earth from afar! Yet another reason why I pulled down the biggest available meteor from outer space.”

“I feel like I’m going insane if I didn’t know you, Light-kun! Who said stuff like what you just said so casually in a conversation?”

  “Hahahaha! I get you!”

“No, seriously! Your Faith power is so broken! What was that range?”

“Lily! You can stop time in the entire universe! Not just on this planet, but the entire universe! That is basically EVERYTHING in existence! I am nothing compared to you!”

“Oh, don’t be humble, Light-kun! Your Faith power completely shut down mine without breaking a sweat! Your Faith power just affects space and time so casually; very few Faith powers can do that, Light-kun! At least the ones I’ve encountered.”

“W-When you put it like that. . . But still, yours is still impressive to me, Lily!”

“The grass is always greener on the other side, Light-kun!”

  “Yeah, maybe you’re right! Let’s stop this. . .”

“Anyway! YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!! WE DESTROYED ONE OF THE BRANCHES OF THAT CURSED FACILITY AFTER ALL THIS TIME!! WE ACTUALLY TOOK THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS OUR GOAL!!” said Light so cheerfully all of a sudden.

“YAAAAAAAYYYY!! THANK YOU, LIGHT-KUN!! Thanks for always working towards this goal! It feels like you’re avenging me. . .”

“Don’t mention it, Lily! I gave you my word! I’ll hold on to it!”

Lily smiles with her face turning slightly red.

  “Thank you, Light-kun! Truly!”

Light approaches Lily and moves his face closer towards her.

  “You’re welcome, my love!”

They both are both staring into each other’s gazes, enjoying the romantic silence.

After a while, Lily deactivates her time stop, and time flows normally again in this nearby area.

  “W-WHAAATTT?”

  “EEEEEEEHHHH?”

  “NNOOOOOOOOOOOO!! WHAT HAPPENNEEEEEDDD?”

  “WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!”

  “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!”

  “C-COOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLDDDD!!!”

  “BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!”

  *!*

Light and Lily were in a romantic mood when a lot of people suddenly screamed in the middle of the snowfield. Most of the residents of the facility were knocked out by Lily, but a lot of them who did not come out to the giant open lobby were still awake and in the middle of doing something inside the building. From their perspectives, their surroundings suddenly changed instantly, and it shocked them all greatly.

“Hmm, should I knock them all out already, Light-kun?”

  “Yeah! Go ahead!”

  *BAMM BAM BAM*

Lily vanishes and reappears in her spot after only one second.

  “Done!”

She has knocked out everyone awake gently so as not to carelessly kill them.

“Awesome! So, I don’t think we have to worry about this incident being reported to the public! This was an unofficial building after all.”

“Yeah! But is it alright to leave this many people in the middle of a snowfield like this?”

“Hmm, you’re right. Let’s move them!”

Light transforms his right hand and lifts it forward. He opens up a giant wormhole 10 meters in diameter.

“Let’s toss them carefully into this wormhole, Lily!”

  “Alright!”

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

They start picking up everyone two by two, each, and throw them into the wormhole carefully.

“Oh, right! Please destroy their metal collars as well! I almost forgot about the most important part!”

“Wow, you’re right! I didn’t even think about that at all! Will do!”

They both diligently pick everyone quickly, but the pacing of their loads were imbalance, as whenever Light had only tossed two people into the wormhole, while Lily had already tossed 30, though comparing the two in speed is very unfair.

“Where does this lead to, Light-kun?”

“To the place where the BWC took place! I think the stadium is empty now, as no current events happening there.”

“Hmm, I feel like this would make a scene! Is that alright, Light-kun?”

  “It’s perfect, actually.”

  “Eh? Why?”

“If they can hire someone who can trace back that a wormhole was opened and it led here, then if the higher-ups find out, they’ll be panicking and stop the investigation abruptly! But it was already too late, as news had spread about this, and they would cower in fear, and possibly stop all other branches’ operation for a period of time until the masses forget about this incident, allowing us to destroy them one by one before they could hurt more children.”

“Oh, Light-kun! You’re such a schemer!” compliments Lily.

They have both finished tossing everyone into the wormhole. Light quickly dismisses the wormhole, and it fades away quickly.

“Hahaha! It wasn’t much! I’ll do anything to destroy this entire operation!” said Light with a prideful smile.

  “. . .”

But Lily suddenly fell silent. She has her head down, and she puts her hands together in front of her.

  “Say, Light-kun. I’ve been thinking.”

“What about?” asks Light in confusion at Lily’s sudden change in demeanour.

“You are serious about making Martin and Prof. Adam pay, right? You’re not gonna fall back on this decision no matter what, right?”

“Eh? Didn’t we just celebrate this? If you’re doubting me, then don’t worry, Lily! I will fulfil my promise to you! I promise, once again!” said Light, showing a thumbs up to Lily.

“No, Light-kun! This isn’t about me doubting you. . .”

  “Then what?”

  “. . .”

Lily suddenly walks forward, approaching Light.

  *!*

She rests her head against Light’s chest.

  “L-Lily?”

  “I’m scared. . .”

Lily wraps her hands around Light’s waist and hugs him tightly. Light is utterly confused. He has no idea what suddenly made her like this.

  “W-What’s wrong?”

“I know this is contradictory since I was genuinely happy just before this when you destroyed this facility, but now I’m scared of losing you. *sobs sobs*”

  Lily started crying.

“When I think about how you’re going to face Martin, I feel so scared! What if I were to lose you, too, just like Mi-chan? I don’t doubt your strength, Light-kun, as I’ve seen you up close and personal. But Martin’s power is so strange that it cannot be measured normally. I am scared that he’ll kill you, and there’s nothing I can do about it, as my Faith power doesn’t work against him at all, nor can I even heal you with it. I’m scared, Light-kun! I’m scared!”

Light smiles to himself while hearing Lily out. He grabs his face and lifts it up.

  *smooch*

  *!*

Light kisses Lily in the forehead.

“Lily! I am not facing him alone! Don’t forget that I’ll bring the entire Seven Layers of Judgment with me! Plus, don’t forget that God is always with us through everything!”

Lily smiles as tears still roll down her face.

  “Thanks, Light-kun!”

They continue to hug in silence and tightly for a few minutes.

  *!*

  “Oh wait, SEVENTH!!”

“OH! RIGHT!! WHY DO I KEEP FORGETTING ABOUT THAT? I APOLOGIZE, LIGHT-KUN!! LET’S MOVE!!”

  *!!*

But as they turned around to get ready to leave, they saw a bright and huge fireball high above the sky, far in the distance.

“Huh? What’s that? Did you call a second meteor, Light-kun?”

“Now, why would I do that, Lily?”

“Runelt maybe? But why would he be here in the first place?”

  “Is he maybe tailing us?”

  “Yeah, no, I doubt that!”

The bright fireball increases rapidly in size, yet it still looks far away.

“Am I mistaken, or is that a person under the fireball?”

  “Huh? Really?”

Both of them squinted their eyes as much as possible, and they saw something small, which resembled a humanoid shape.

  *!*

The giant fireball was launched towards both of them. It is flying at 200km/h, quickly approaching them.

  “So we’re the target?”

“Huh? I wonder why? Light-kun, did you ever date someone else before me? Possibly someone who has fire-based Faith power?”

“No. You are my very first and last girlfriend I’ll ever have, Lily, so I doubt it.”

“(Did he just propose to me with that wording?)”

“I see. As for me, as you know, I’ve never dated anyone else ever, so I genuinely have no idea who this is.”

“Maybe it’s someone who holds grudges towards one of us? I’ve hurt a lot of people in the past, albeit mostly people who deserved it, but I did sometimes involve innocent bystanders. . .”

“Me too. . . When you say it like that, there are countless people who want to get back at us. . .”

“Though that begs the question of how on earth do they know that we’re here? We pretty much travel across the globe every single day. The only one knows about this are the other Judges.”

“Good point! Should I go over there, take a quick look, head back, and inform you, Light-kun?”

“Hmm, nah! Let’s not ruin the surprise! I’m kinda intrigued by this development!”

  “Ahahahaha! Agreed!”

Light and Lily are casually having a conversation when the giant fireball is heading towards them fast. There’s no sense of urgency or danger for them both.

Once the giant fireball was close enough, they suddenly felt the heat. They also realized that the giant fireball is 350m in diameter. Its heat alone is melting all the snow on the ground for about 550m in diameter.

“Whoa! This is hotter than I expected!”

“And kinda pleasant as well, given how cold it is being here! Hehe!” said Lily with a relaxed, smiling face, with her eyes closed.

Light raises his right hand and blackens it.

  *FWOOOOOOOMMM*

The giant fireball stops in place the moment it touches Light’s blackened palm. Suddenly, Lily also doesn’t feel the heat coming from the giant fireball anymore as it is fully being absorbed into Light’s blackened hand.

“What are you gonna do with it, Light-kun?”

“Hm, sending it back would be pointless. My Faith power doesn’t exactly count as a countering type.”

“Can you absorb about 99% of its size and give me the 1%? I’ll make a DIY lantern with my Faith power! It’s going to warm us a bit in this environment!”

  “Interesting! Will do!”

Light did as Lily asked him to. He absorbs the 99% of the giant fireball’s size and mass, reducing it to the size of a marble in his blackened hand.

“Hmm, this feels a little bit smaller than what I thought, but it will do!”

Light gave Lily the small ‘firefly’. She quickly creates a lantern out of his time power, encapsulating the small ‘firefly’ inside.

  “Yay! It looks good!”

“Eh? Your lantern is glowing blue, and it is even brighter than that marble! Just toss that away! Seems pointless!”

“WHAT? BUT IT’S CUTE!! DON’T JUST ASK ME TO THROW THINGS OUT SO QUICKLY, LIGHT-KUN!!”

“LILY!! THAT’S SOMEONE’S FAITH POWER!! NOT REALLY A TOY!!”

“WHAT? BUT YOU LITERALLY SAID IT WAS A GOOD IDEA!! I CAN CONTAIN IT SAFELY ANYWAY, SO IT’S ALRIGHT!!”

“YEAH, BUT NOW THAT I SEE IT'S LIGHTING UP SO DIMLY, I TAKE BACK MY WORDS!! THROW IT AWAY!!”

  “Grrrrrrr!!!”

  “Grrrrrrrr!!”

They both grumble at one another.

  “PROMINENCE BLADE!!”

Someone suddenly appears behind Light and Lily. It was a man, and he engulfed his entire right hand with a blade made of fire, two meters in length. He swung his fire blade horizontally at their neck level.

  *FFWOOOMMMM*

  *!*

But the person was confused. He was sure that he was going to get them both at the same time, but instead, he missed both of them entirely. Light and Lily are gone from his sight.

  “(WHAT?)”

  *THRS*

The person lands on the snow, and he looks confused. He looks to his left and right and sees no one in the vicinity.

  “See! It still looks good!”

“Yeah, but seeing your Faith power outshine its brightness makes that small fireball look pathetic!”

“MUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!” said Lily with a pouted mouth.

The person turns around and sees that Light and Lily are standing 10 meters behind him.

  *BWOOOOSSSHH*

He immediately jumps forward, approaching them.

  “PROMINENCE FIST!!”

He prepares his right hand, and it catches bright and hot fire.

  *FWOOOOMMM*

  *BAAAAAAMMMMM*

He swings his right hand and punches Light right in his face.
