Lunacy 20: Silver Torrent

This dumbass thinks he can drown me…

To be fair it would probably work on any 9t besides Giana or me. She did tell me that she was a mermaid and an immortal jellyfish too.

I looked over at the ship as there was a pink beacon on the ship… what is Giana doing… why would she go out of her way to charm the fishermen? I don’t understand vixens, and I’ll just play with my food until she calms down.

Which brings me to this king salmon. I’m using my illusions to keep him alive. He doesn’t know that he’s dead yet, just like the majority of this school attempting to drown me.

The scene flipped upside down as another [Illusionary Dagger] disappeared, not that it mattered as I had 8 real [Illusionary Daggers] left, and the countless fake ones were keeping up my magic based [Silver Torrent].

As long as I can create a new [Illusionary Dagger] before I run out, I will be fine, and it’s unlikely that these salmon can push me enough to force excessive use of these.

Most salmon were already dead, but they’re under the illusion of ‘life’, not all of them. I’m trying to smoke out any lurkers. Smoked salmon sounds good…

I slapped my cheeks as I needed to focus.

Everything was still falling as I didn’t specify for how long we would be falling, so this illusion would continue until I change something or use up another [Illusionary dagger]. I don’t mind falling, so the battle shifted toward aerial combat for the next 10 minutes until my next [Illusionary Dagger] can be made.

A silver wave went out and assaulted the salmon that were alive and not the salmon that were ‘alive’. Those that were ‘alive’ had a dagger stuck in them, which they can’t perceive, and those that are actually alive have yet to get one stuck in them.

The second reason why I’m keeping them ‘alive’ is because I need a sandbag. This is my solution to a problem I had identified earlier; I have nothing to test these types of skills on. My opponents would either die too fast or require me to blast a whole area and I’m currently having both of these problems.

The ocean is an electrified death trap and most salmon vaporized, so I had to save them as there will be no meat if I vaporize them. So, the third reason is so we have meat!

But these salmon are quite the problem, or were quite a problem. How many aquatic lifeforms have they pushed out their territory, they’re quite strong and numerous. Not that I’m helping by killing anything in this area…

The silver lightning formed into spears and assaulted more of the spirit salmon.

My tails had this sorted out; all I needed to do was make a decision on what skill I would test out on this salmon boss.

The salmon school was the guinea pig of my magic based [Silver Torrent], which was quite a success, even though it’s not real.

Shaped magic? Got daggers for illusions done as I’m currently using it.

My tails created an [Illusionary Dagger] and used up another, causing the scene to change to the magma pits of Fernys.

Already starting to bake them, eh?

The silver lightning contrasted with the red and orange of the magma pit. Some attacks made it to me but phased through me as I was made out of lightning. There is no way that I can lose this battle.

The decision was made. I needed to find out why 9t can use [Elgard Overload] so early in our life and why it’s so strong. It isn’t as strong as what I’m doing now but that’s contextual, a god would force me to burn up these [Illusionary Daggers] quite fast, causing it to end after all 9 are spent.

[Elgard Overload] fixes this to be duration based but… theoretically that would be tailored to fighting gods, why would a brat like me need to fight gods. If my race was doing well, this would make more sense to be learned later.

So, it could give young 9t a feel of how illusions could be at the top end, or I’m misunderstanding it or using it wrongly.

Illusions and scenarios created inside [Elgard Overload] drop off after it ends unless it forced a permanent effect and one of the few exceptions are, the damage that has been dealt and the effects of that damage.

It also has a weird structure; 2 moments where a 9t becomes a reality bending god, but the rest of it was mainly used to kick impossibilities out of reality and above average illusion manipulation.

Thinking about it won’t get me anywhere and nobody will tell me whether I’m right or wrong, besides reality.

My tails had created hurricanes out of silver lightning and were hurling them at the salmon king as logic had left the building a while ago.

I have decided! You will become my sandbag to see how I can make an illusion reality!

The salmon king didn’t like this. His opinion was invalid though, as he was already dead. I unintentionally created a school of zombie salmon, but I can’t practice on vaporized opponents…

How about I leave a mark behind… you wanted to drown me with a maelstrom? Let’s toast you in a [Silver Maelstrom]!

I said, as I imitated Greg and held my arm out in an edgy fashion. My 6 th tail reminded me that I currently don’t possess a skill named [Silver Maelstrom].

Yes, I know… this was your cue to start creating that skill! Ugh, I’m talking to my tails again, I’m too far gone, maybe I should embrace the insanity.

My tails got to work to create [Silver Maelstrom] and I had to keep the salmon king entertained. The magma stressed him out so an [Illusionary dagger] got sacrificed to return us to the ocean.

  Is that better?

An [Iceberg], [Water Pulse] and a spirit laser shot through me.

I’m still made out of lightning, remember? You have to come with something better than that…

My tail swept over the surface and used [Silver Tsunami].

Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.

The 9 th [Illusionary Dagger] appeared before [Silver Maelstrom] was finished. The 6 th tail was working on it and making sure it looks flashy and does a lot of damage. It would be to commemorate my first big spirit salmon catch, so no cutting corners.

The surroundings were quite apocalyptic as silver lightning in every shape or form got flung at the salmon king. I had delegated this boss battle to my tails and they’re doing a great job.

I got a notification from my 6th tail, the skill was ready. It had no special effects on purpose, this test was to find out if I could force an illusion into reality.

The salmon king got trapped in the [Silver Maelstrom] after my tail activated it.

The illusion I would force onto this event would be something like this: this part of the ocean has a permanent silver maelstrom which acts as a safe haven for sailors and fishermen as it will destroy pirate ships and monsters and protect fishermen, merchant vessels and transport vessels while they’re in it.

There was no way I could create a magic skill with those conditions, but that’s where my experiment comes in. Now to force this into reality.

[Elgard Overload] went out, and I started kicking impossibilities out of reality, which was surprisingly easy. The only impossibility were those effects I just thought of, which left me 7 minutes and 30 seconds of nothing to do.

But if my theory is correct, the 2 windows of near-infinite power are meant to attach prior ‘impossibilities’ into reality. As if stapling a page into a book, with the stapled page containing information about the altered reality. Anything else is to ensure that the page doesn’t look out of place.

The silver lightning acts as water, I can use silver lightning, the skill [Silver Maelstrom] is real.

So, this becomes less restrictive when used like this eh, in that case, it’s time to mess around.

I shifted my stance and used [Silver Dragon]. They multiplied and assaulted the salmon king, who responded by sending 200 underlings to deal with me while he would deal with the [Silver Dragons]. He had become cocky as he realized that he was unable to die.

The first window of overpoweredness came up and I created countless [Silver Dragons] to keep them busy.

The silver winds they kicked up tore through the enemies and electrified the surface, I appeared to be fooling around and that was correct, but there was no threat. This battle ends when I want it to.

Ok, that was a lie, the battle ends when [Elgard Overload] ends, but same thing. The minute came and went. Most of the [Silver Dragons] disappeared with my window of overpoweredness.

They got replaced by [Frost Dragons] which continued to play around with the salmon.

Humans teach their children to not play with food, 9t teach their children to play with food, but only after ensuring that the food can’t escape.

A strange feeling welled up. It was boredom. There was nothing to do besides waiting for my next window of overpoweredness. No impossibility to kick out, the salmon pose no challenge as they’re all dead already. Am I a battle junkie?

I sat down on the surface and spectated how the salmon were having an epic battle against the [Silver Dragons] and [Frost Dragons]. They all had become sentient so they’re putting up a good fight, they’re winning, actually.

My tails also had nothing to do as my skill was winning by itself.

So, making an illusion, real seems to be quite boring, who would have thought.

I started kicking random possibilities out of reality.

We were on the ocean, so nothing stops a random kraken or other sea monster from attacking me. That would excite me, but there was a high chance that I needed a nap after this, and the fishermen might not need another battle after this.

1 minute till my second window of overpoweredness and I decided on how to end it.

Let’s make it flashy! I’m on the ocean, nothing will get caught in the crossfire, no allies will get hit because of my [Illusionary Dagger] and [Elgard Overload] combo. Why was I bored again?

The silver lightning increased in volume and my tails went to their full length. I crammed as much silver lightning into myself as I could and sent it into the ocean below.

It took a bit, but all the water turned into silver lightning.

My window came up and walls of silver lightning closed in on the salmon. Whenever I moved, I created a [Silver Tsunami] and [Silver Rain] poured down.

Here I am; strolling on the ocean’s surface, as silver as my hair. I peer at the salmon attempting to resist the silver storm, sneering at their futile attempts to survive this encounter. My tails fluff up and create a captivating contrast against the twilight sky. Soon the blood moon will rise and send these salmon to their toasty demise.

A silver shockwave went out, and the sky cycled through day and night until the blood moon appeared.

I could never get used to the pleasantly intoxicating feeling it brings. The blood moon added a vermillion hue to the silvery assault. I dashed at the salmon king; every stride left behind an illusionary copy of myself. The salmon king got surrounded by silvery mirages. It’s body marked the intersection of 9 slashes which caused him to expire as the [Elgard Overload] neared its finale.

My boredom had turned into pleasure and wishing this feeling would never end. The sky cycled through day and night to return to its prior state of twilight, and the feeling of ecstasy subsided.

Is this how the word ‘lunatic’ had been created?

My Elgards eyes and [Silver Torrent] deactivated and most of my attacks dropped. It would be difficult to test if my experiment worked without my eyes active, which is why the ship with fishermen was so important.

I couldn’t help but let out a mischievous smile and [Flushed] the ship into the [Silver Maelstrom].

Either that half-destroyed ship is tougher than it lets on, or my experiment was a success! But whoa I’m tired.

The wild maelstrom was defying logic and gently carrying the ship in it’s current.

My drowsiness made it hard to stay awake, but I had to wait till Giana would deal with whatever threat was on the ship. What sort of opponent are they dealing with that she needs this much charm magic? A siren? How did it even get on the ship? I thought that I did a great job hiding it, but even I can make mistakes.

I froze a couch on the ocean’s surface, but the waves were too wild and my couch capsized so I just want to brush my tails in the meantime…

[Eternal Winter] went out to freeze a large patch of ice and my tails returned to their compact size, but I noticed something when I attempted to brush them.

My tails have become fluffier somehow… wait…

I looked back to the ship and Giana couldn’t keep her eyes off me. It was hard to see from this distance, but her pupils might be pink purple….

  Just my luck…
