Chapter 5: Setting the board II

Naomi returned to the mortal realm, taking on the white cat she favored when wanting to move about undetected by most mortals without putting in the effort to hide her presence fully. It also allowed her to explore the mortal city. The city's ten rings spiraled downward toward the docks that supplied the port with many goods from the different cultures around the world. Naomi hopped onto the nearest wall, walking along it as she made her way to her destination. A lush garden filled with trees, bushes and flowers from the many lands in the different climates jumping down Naomi then made her way through the bushes observing the many exotic plants kept in enchanted climates no doubt in a rune relay to change with the seasons that the trickster curse brought. Keeping those plants that grew in certain environments stable.

Naomi felt her heart ache as she thought about the times before the great war. The world was different then. The Trickster had caused them all to suffer rather harsh punishments, with his being the worst of all after cursing their father Duri to suffer through the random changes by tying his own powers to that of the forgers' flame and the songstress notes that made the foundations of the world. Naomi scolded herself for thinking about that self-serving monster and continued through the garden; He had led them all astray. All they could do was keep the world going till the Forger and the Songstress unwound his curse from the threads that made life.

At last, Naomi came to her destination, where she watched Bella's mother comfort her. It was a pity she couldn't do more for the woman but to maintain the fragile balance that held the realm together, the gods and goddesses were very careful not to step on each other's toes. Even in war times, even if their domains overlapped, if one had a claim on a mortal, you left them be and did not interfere unless called upon with the other present, different Patheon or not. Losea was far too stubborn to deal with, even on the best of days.
