53 Porygon²

Taking one of the balls and tossing it, the energy reformed into a familiar shape. As I bought the ball however, the now solid Porygon once again started to glow. A a stunning bright white light came off its body before a strange blue light encircled its body. Under the cover of this phenomena, the Porygon's body began to shift as its sharp edges were repced with round curves. Seeing the strange light, Kuramon panicked while riding atop my head, “Awawawawa!” Patting him to keep him calm, the light quickly faded.

Once the light faded, the newly evolved Porygon2 floated silently just slightly off the ground. Its underbelly, oval-shaped legs, tail, and rounded beak were blue, while the rest of its round body including a new thin neck connecting its small round head was all magenta pink. Since we were animated, it cked the finer details, like its photocell skin but otherwise looked exactly as expected. Notably, its eyes take on a cutesy appearance due to the current style, (What would they look like after we returned?)

Throwing out the other one, an identical process occurred, starting with the reformation into a Porygon, which was then shrouded with blue energy before transforming into Porygon2. Besides the light show, there was also a memorable sound effect that occurred during the process.

As the second Porygon finished its light show, “So, how is it?” I asked the pair, having completed their evolution. In response, the two turned to each other and began a strange conversation in their unique nguage. While some of these sounds were just barely audible to my ears, there seemed to be some improvements in their voice modution and their vocabury. Besides the typical “Beeps” and “Boops” I was used to communicating with them with, there was a new brand of “Verts” and other modutions.

“BWEEOO!” One of the pair called out, as both gave a bob with half-moon-shaped eyes while their oval-shaped legs began to spin rapidly.

Seeing their apparent joy, “I guess that’s good then.” *BRIINGG!* The remaining, original Porygon butted in, demanding its turn.

Looking between it and the newly evolved pair, now that I have a comparison they shrunk down a handful of inches after evolution, with the original being a couple of inches taller and the evolved ones losing a fourth of width.

“While I would like to evolve you right away, we need to wait for the egg,” I said, pointing at the pink and blue egg in the center of the room and Beldum, who had been the first through the screen, now taken a post floating above closely observing the egg. “If you’re that eager to evolve you can just wait in the ball,” I said holding out its ball.

Seeing the ball and having its desire to evolve stimuted seeing the others, as expected, it quickly returned inside. Pcing it into the alcove, all that was left to do was wait for the egg.

There was a short wait before the egg started to hatch. The moment the egg started to glow; I got closer. The egg began to deform into energy before reforming into a Porygon. However, the newborn didn’t even have time to scan its surroundings before I slotted the Upgrade into its chest and pressing the remaining pokeball against its head. Despite their typical appearance cking emotive reactions, the anime art style made up for it in spades. The typically stoic blocky face had expressive eyes that screamed “WHAT!?!” as the Porygon was instantly sucked inside and caught with a *Ding!*

Having a nice chuckle, I added the ball to the other alcove and again pressing the first button on the second row and the third on the top row, the process began anew as blue lightning struck the balls from above. Once the process finished instead of tossing them out right away, I thought it would be a good opportunity to see what happens if they evolved outside.

“Ok, let’s head back,” I said holding out my hand to touch the floating screen.

After sending Beldum and the Porygon through, I turned down to my Bloodborn. “How are we going to get you back?” In response, the puddle of blood started to tremble. “Since you can still harden, maybe...” Pcing my hand into the puddle, it started to shift, climbing my arm I shaped it into an armband.

The manipution was slightly easier than the st time I did this manually even without the support my Bloodborn naturally provided. (Was it an effect from the game?)

Once I passed through the screen, I felt my Ki thunder through my body once it was unsealed. As if making up for lost time, it rushed through my body. My actions felt robotic and practiced as I dropped to the floor sitting in a lotus pose, retraced the pattern that was now lodged in my head. It took a few minutes to stabilize the flow.

When I opened my eyes, I was naturally drawn to the twin pair of Porygon2 exploring the room and the Beldum, which appeared to keep its mechanical eye on them.

After coming back, they regained their enhanced detail. Their rounded features were very smooth-looking, and the slot on their chest's also remained, sitting perfectly where the blue meets pink on its chest.

Standing back up I approached one to get a closer look. “Hummm,” The surface kept the strange photocells, now with much more activity as more signals beamed across its body, as for their eyes, it seemed that an LED screen had been created through a collection of photocells, creating a mimicry almost identical to the eyes they had while animated. Stroking its head, the surface was incredibly smooth like a crystal ball, "Interesting."

  *Bwee?*

Looking around the room I found the other two's pokeballs. Pressing the button, the resulting energy began to reform. Once the energy had solidified, there was a normal Porygon in all its blocky glory.

However, now that we were outside the anime, it sat there seemingly absentminded (or was it processing?). Its eyes seemed to flicker between symbols, like the ones on the keyboard. And the lines that ran across its surface began to coalesce, becoming thick marks across its surface before its body started to morph. The smooth surfaces started to crack as the crystal photocells shifted around its body, with some dropping off and falling to the floor. Sending out the remaining Porygon, an identical process began.

It appears that evolution did occur differently outside of their home universe. Each photocell shifted around as their bodies took on a more rounded appearance. The process was a far cry from the less than a minute it had taken before, taking several minutes before either finished. During this time, I swept up over fifteen pounds of crystal shards, putting them in a thick canvas bag. (I had tried picking one up earlier, its sharp edges cut my finger).

Once the st one finished, it quickly closed in on me and started pecking. *BREEE!* It let out a cry as it pecked me. I think this was the test addition and it was just getting revenge for me scaring it moments ago. Putting my arms up to protect my face I let it peck me. Its rounded beak didn’t cause any damage, but its strikes did hurt a little, “Ow Ow Ow.”

Kuramon who sat atop the couch, saw the Porygon attacking me before giving a cry of its own, “AWA!” its eye started to glow a vibrant shade of red. Soon after, the Porygon stopped pecking me and started to wander around the room in a daze. Petting his squishy body as thanks, he started to purr.

“Alright, let’s take a look at what you found.”

  Other notes on Porygon2:

"It was upgraded to work in space for pnetary devolvement reasons, although its inability to fly limits this ability. It is artificially intelligent and capable of learning new behaviors on its own, including information it does not need to know. It can also speak a strange nguage only other Porygon2 can understand. As a result, it will sometimes perform motions or abilities that are not in its programming."
