“AwA aWa!”
I woke up to the sound of a squeaky voice. Opening my eyes I was greeted but a rge deep red eye cutely staring at me. “…Hello…” I greeted Kuramon, still groggy having spent the night writing and sending emails and continuing to grind. Seeing me awake, Kuramon started happily bouncing up and down on my chest, “Awa Wawa!” While being about the size of my head, he only weighs about a couple pounds, so these jumps didn’t hurt. Catching him between my hands, and sitting up, looking around the room, the Porygon’s had also returned without issue, and they seemed to be having, an important meeting with the original.
The three were off to the east side of the room, close to the doorway to the kitchen. The trio huddled together making strange noises. The usual “bings” and “dings” were repced with high-frequency noises, “Buzzing” and “Pings”. Looking them over in their strange huddle, each bobbing forward and back, I could see small differences between the trio. Some angles and edges were slightly different between the three. But they were hard to make out. The one on the right of the huddle had a slightly different shade of pink, (a slight hexadecimal color difference?)
Then I had another thought, (I should probably start giving names soon…) Having three of them with little to tell them apart was also an issue.
“AwA!” Kuramon gave another noise jumping from my arms and onto the table. Turning around and looking at me with an expectant puppy dog eye.
“Right, you’re probably hungry, and I should reward you. Though I still need to go over what you brought back and if you did anything you shouldn’t.” (There's no telling what Kuramon might have done without supervision).
*Biing!* One of the Porygon let out a noise, alerting the other two, who turned to face me. Floating over, the two ejected the storage drives from the slots in their chests presenting them for recovery.
Looking at the northern Porygon who had commanded these two, “Should I assume you became the leader?” I asked while taking the drives from the other two. *Ding!* it alerted me with a familiar crisp ding noise. (Did it learn to copy that from the game?)
Looking back at Kuramon, “As for food, I’ve been feeding you nothing but steak for the past few days, how about we try something else?”
“AwA aWa!” Kuramon’s eye glowed at the prospect of food. Waiting with expectant anticipation as I moved to the computer and brought out a rge blueberry. Holding it in my hand for the first time it was about the size of a rge tomato with a texture akin to that of an orange the main difference being its blue skin, and blueberry shape. Pcing it down on the table, Kuramon pounced immediately, his body engulfing the berry, an audible crunch was released before Kuramon let out a strange purr or squeal of delight as it munched.
*AAWWWAEEE!*
Seeing him enjoy the Oren berry, I proceeded to remove five more. Passing them out to the Porygon and holding onto one for Beldum.
As for the st one, holding it up to my mouth for the first bite, it was hard at first, releasing a crunch as my teeth broke the skin. The texture was something akin to a hard blueberry and an apple, as for its taste… despite being a berry, it wasn’t sweet at all. Instead, it was a mix of other fvors. A hint of spice, slight bitterness, a touch of dryness, and southing sourness, all smoothed together to make a strangely savory and satisfying fvor. Even so, it was more of an acquired taste, simir to how most people don't like licorice. Though this tastes much better, and it's quite filling.
While I finished off the Oren berry, a blue leg had started floating over my shoulder. Floating vertically its head was bent at a ninety-degree angle as it eyed the berry I saved for it on the table. Holding it out, Beldum caught the berry in the circle next to its eye before a hardy *Crunch*
I don’t know if it was just my interpretation, but it seemed to be having a divine experience from the taste. (If we were in an anime, would they be sparkling?)
*Ping!*A notification came from one of the ptops, an email reply from one of the newscasters I messaged st night. Checking the ptop, I sent out 20 unique messages to news podcasters and channels, of which 12 had sent a message regarding more information. Of these 12, eight wanted more info before moving forward while the remaining four were willing to pay for more. “Before that,” I said stretching looking over at the trio of pink and blue polyhedrons.
While I would like to know how Pokemon evolution works in the real world, and if there would be any differences or problems, I need these three viable now, rather than ter. To do that I need to use a trade machine while they have an Upgrade in that slot on their chests. While the first part was retively easy as I just need to find an image, I would need a fourth Porygon. Having more wouldn’t hurt, and it would minimize their man-hours if they traded out in shifts. With the remaining time, they could focus on other things. I could also evolve them further into Porygon-Z’s but… It’s not really an upgrade. The Dubious Disc seemes to be a virus impnted through the same evolution process. And according to the dex, the resulting Zs were erratic and scared the others.
“I wonder if I could write my own evolutions?” It might be possible. They were digital beings, and I had the blueprints readily avaible in the Upgrades’ code… reading it would be a hurdle. Writing my own, might take years to achieve even with hyper-tech computing...
“Awa?” Kuramon released a noise seeing me in a stupor.
Looking at the purple jellyfish, If I combined them with sophisticated technology… it might shrink the time… and more than just writing an upgrade for Porygon, I could even create new forms of Digimon…
Feeling a heavy weight pressing down on my shoulder, I was brought back from my thoughts. Looking at Beldum, who had nudged me back to reality, its mechanical red eye twisted inside its socket.
“I can look into it ter,” I already had a list long enough as it was.
“Alright, let’s get your three sorted.” Taking the upgrade on the table, I took a picture of it using my phone, taking out the copy from my desktop screen and taking another picture I quickly had the required four. Now was just to hatch another Porygon.
While I went about hatching eggs, I had my Bloodborn insert the drives into the Porygon.
Expelled from my body in a flood of bloody mist, when the two new Porygon first saw it, they reacted briefly, panicking. The lines that fshed across their surface became erratic for a moment and their legs spun with fervor. But this quickly faded as the rest of the group remained calm.
Taking the rge egg from the screen the trio gathered around it as I pced it on the couch. They sat around the egg letting out their distinct sounds.
*Biing*
*Binng*
*Dinngg*
Then Beldum joined the trio, letting a strange faint *Burr* sound as they circled around the pink and blue egg.
Leaving them to their odd ritual (that I could not understand), I proceeded to bring up an image of a trade machine.
Having my Bloodborn pick up the original Porygon’s pokeball and three extras, I picked up the egg. “Alright everyone, we’re going on a trip to evolve the Porygon.” Shifting the egg to my left, I touched the standing TV screen with my right, causing the screen to shimmer as if a droplet of water had fallen upon a serene pool. “Everyone through the screen”.
Beldum was the first to cross the screen, quickly floating through it. Followed by one of the Porygon. The remaining two appeared hesitant at first but seeing as the others had done so without issue soon followed. Kuramon also tried to follow along but I stopped him. “Not you”.
“Awa?” He appeared confused seeing as I had let the others go without issue. His ears fpped and eye narrowed.
“Remember, you’re not physical without this,” I said tapping the watch on my left wrist. “If you go, you have to go with me.” Seemingly understanding, what I was trying to say, he gave an “Awa!” But, instead of staying put, he jumped up onto my head. (Well, I did say everyone.) Letting out a sigh I picked up the remaining Upgrade from the table and crossed through the screen.
The moment I passed through the screen, I noticed two distinct shifts. First, everything had become animated. The Porygon and Bledum returned to their usual appearance, while I gained cel-shading and the Pokemon art style. Internally, I felt my body immediately grow heavy. The Ki circution had stopped entirely, something that was supposed to be impossible right now. With all the Ki flowing inside me almost instantly stuffed into my dantain after I crossed the screen, I couldn't even feel it anymore.
While non-debilitating, it was incredibly uncomfortable.
Looking around the room, we arrived inside a yellow tent with a high-tech-looking machine on the far end. It had a metallic shine, with more than half of it painted a golden yellow. Two screens were situated at the center of the apparatus, with the upper screen dispying a rotating holographic pokeball. While the bottom screen appears to be a keyboard with four rows and ten columns, it was probably the entire Pokenese alphabet.
Looking down at the floor, in the middle of the room, my Bloodborn had turned into a solidified red puddle. “Are you alright?” I asked before its body started to harden, creating a crystalline X. “Neither am I. Can you make a bowl?” I asked as its shape hardened into a bowled C-shape. Setting the egg down, I picked up the four pokeballs strewn about the floor.
“First, the duo need to be caught,” I said holding out the balls. Two Porygon approached and pressed the buttons at the same time, once pressed the balls opened and the pair converted into light and were absorbed.
The button started to glow on and off for a second before both balls released a simultaneous, *DING!*
Pcing the balls into the circur depressions on either side of the machine, now to activate it, which required pressing the first character on the second row and the third character on the first. (I learned it from the episode).
Once the buttons were pressed green sparks began to release from the rods above the depressions and the screen had changed to depict two pokeballs. After a few seconds of being struck by the green electricity, the balls began to hover from the depressions before they turned into white light that was sucked into the rods, shortly after the rods above them withdrew. The depiction of two Porygon within their balls shifted from one side to the other on the upper screen. After the depiction on the top screen finished, the rods dropped down again releasing the balls and the st gasps of green lightning. With that, the trade had finished, and the screen once again dispyed a spinning holographic pokeball.
