Everlasting

Marina led the kids to their designated room. Their shared room was far larger than all of their previous cells combined and had a luxurious bathroom. They each had their own nice bed as well. The room also had a fridge and microwave for any leftovers they brought from the cafeteria.

The trio was completely stunned by how nice everything was. Raioten continued to keep his distance, not fully trusting Marina. Red was overwhelmed with anger at his earlier display of violence. Out of nowhere, she knocked him over with a massive right hook.

Red: You killed them, how could you?!

Raioten threw up his hands and growled in protest.

Red: I know you could beat the guy but you need to learn how to protect yourself without killing people. Killing is wrong.

Raioten turned his head with an attitude. As he stood up, Red knocked him back down.

Red: The next time you get upset like that, you come to me and I'll take you on anytime!

  Marina: I don't think that's such a good idea.

Red: Why not? I can kick his butt, right short stack?

Her teasing worked like a charm and Raioten rushed at her. He began fighting like a wild animal again, but Red was prepared. Without the surprise of the knives from his back, she was able to win the fight much easier than the first time.

Red: Told ya. You have a long way to go before you can beat me shrimp!

Marina: Alright alright, good job you two. Now its time to relax.

In a rage, Raioten ran out of the room. Marina stopped Red from chasing after him.

Marina: I'll go, you might just upset him more.

Marina searched around for Raioten through the tower. As she searched, she found Raioten laying down in a dark corner. He was rolling around in his sleep, growling to himself. Seeing him having a nightmare, Marina tried to wake him. Being jolted awake kept Raioten's violent side active for a split second. He reached forward, grabbing Marina by the throat. Before he could kill her, he recognized what was happening. He let her go and crawled away from her, crying.

Marina: Blue, please calm down. It's alright.

He ran away crying at his outburst. Marina returned to the room while Raioten struggled to sleep. He would wake up constantly due to having repeated nightmares. All he could see were all of people he had killed.

The entire mass of them were all yelling and cursing at him for killing them. They began to attack and from the corner of his eye Raioten could see the Warden watching it all. He could handle most of it, but when he saw Yona turn away from him, he lost it. Every time he woke up, he was ready for violence. He cried to himself that night, wishing with all his heart that he could fix himself.

Marina decided to turn in after she returned for a good start tomorrow. Before her and Red went to bed, they talked a little about plans for the future. Red had her eyes solely on being the best and Marina wished to escape the tower as early as she could.

Red: I'll ask tiny what he wants to do when we find him.

Marina: Right, we're going to find him for sure.

They passed out with plans to find Raioten in the morning. Red woke Marina up early, excited to go find Raioten. They left together to search and when they found him, they were mortified. He was still asleep, but the scene around him was straight out of a horror movie.

Raioten was battered and beaten. His face bruised and covered in cuts. Underneath him was a completely mutilated body. It was the final member of the team Raioten fought the day prior. He find Raioten sleeping and attacked immediately. Raioten squirmed under the man's weight as he was struck repeatedly.

The man rained down elbows, punches and slashes from a knife until Raioten began his counter attack. The boy caught his aggressors hand between his sharp teeth, ripping off a few of his fingers. As the man screamed in pain, Raioten was able to slip out from under him. When he got back to his feet, the young boy still felt like he was dreaming. He destroyed the man physically, ripping and tearing at his flesh like a wild animal. His kicks shattered the mans bones like a baseball bat would. By the time Raioten was finished, the body of the man didn't appear human anymore.

The Warden came to investigate the reason behind the crowd that Raioten had attracted. The Warden had seen Raioten wandering at night and sent the man after him for revenge. He was trying to make sure Raioten remained cold blooded no matter what.

Warden: What are we all standing around here for? There's nothing to see here.

He leaned down to Raioten and assured him that he did nothing wrong. The Warden turned to Marina and Red.

Warden: You two can head back to your cell, take an extra day to get adjusted while I talk with him.

The Warden led Raioten towards his quaters once again. In the way, Raioten turned and looked at the sealed door. He was completely enamored with it until the Warden smacked him. The Warden proceeded with his usual routine of beating Raioten down for hours at a time that day, only stopping to eat and shower.

By the time he released Raioten, night had come once again. The girls were worried sick when the Warden returned with a bandaged Raioten. He forbade Raioten from 'bothering' the infirmary staff anymore. It was all apart of his plan to drain every last bit of sanity left in the young boy.

Warden: I filled him in on your responsibilities, and he WON'T fail. Have a good night.

The girls did their best to comfort Raioten when he got back, but he insisted on staying far away from them both. When it was time for them to pass out, the girls noticed that Raioten stood up and leaned against the wall.

Marina: Hey sweetie, you know you can lay down right? That bed over there is for you.

Raioten shook his head swiftly, and Marina noticed that his eyes were filled with fear.

Marina: Ok I'm sorry. You just try to get some rest alright Blue?

Raioten nodded and leaned back up against the wall. As he drifted off, Marina stayed awake to keep an eye on him. To her surprise, he actually managed to fall asleep standing up. Just as Marina was about to get some rest herself, Raioten began to growl.

His body began twitching and his face scrunched up. He was having a horrible nightmare of the events that happened on the lower floor. Raioten was surrounded by the mutilated bodies of those he killed and couldn't escape. Yona and Yasu led the army of victims.

Marina got up when Raioten began to thrash about. Before she could grab him to calm him down, he lost his balance and fell over. When his head hit the floor, Raioten woke up and swung at Marina. She was just a hair away from being struck at full force.

When Raioten regained his senses, he realized that he could have seriously injured her, and that nothing had changed. He began to tear up and dashed into the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind him. Marina walked to the door.

Marina: Hey, you didn't hurt me Blue. That was called a nightmare, they're really scary aren't they?

Raioten cracked open the door. His bright blue eyes pierced the darkness of the bathroom.

Marina: I'm sorry you had a scary nightmare but it's going to be alright, I promise.

  He shook his head.

Marina: Is that why you don't want to use the bed: your nightmares?

Raioten nodded with sorrow in his eyes.

Marina: How about you lay on the floor? It'll give your feet a rest.

He shook his head more and stepped out of the bathroom. He put on a bit of charades to explain his nightmares. He laid on the ground and thrashed around. His nightmares were the worst whenever he laid down because his memories of Yona specifically came back the most then. He stayed asleep longer if he laid down, being more comfortable. This only left his mind in a horrible stste even longer and caused him to lash out.

He was reminded of how safe and loved he felt in Yona's arms, and how it felt to wake up in those same arms after he killed her. His nightmares drove him to inanity so his only solace was avoiding laying down.

Through his improving acting skills, he was able to convey his message to Marina. His standing wasn't completely random, falling over during his duress helped him somewhat control his wrath by waking himself up before he could get too angry.

Marina: So you hope to fall if you have a nightmare, so that you wake yourself up?

Raioten nodded. He gave Marina a hug and pointed to the bathroom.

Marina: I understand. If you ever stop having nightmares, please promise that you'll lay down.

He nodded once more before closing the door and going to sleep. Marina cried throughout the night as she could hear him falling over multiple times in his sleep. Early in the morning, Marina went to the infirmary after trying to wake up the children.

Raioten looked exhausted, but got right up. Red in the other hand, was a pain to wake up. When Raioten tried getting her to wake up, she grabbed his wrist and threw him across the room. He flipped over her mattress and sent her crashing to the floor.

Red: What the hell? You little midget, I'll kick your butt!

Before Red could close the distance between them, she noticed Raioten pointing up at the clock.

Red: AHHH! Why didn't you speak up you tiny dummy! WE GOTTA GO!
