With the door slamming being them, the trio had arrived. The two ladies were immediately the center of attention as everyone on the floor turned to inspect the newest team. Marina hid behind Red, who confidently stood tall.
Red: Can we help you losers or something? Keep it moving!
One of the men walked towards Red, hoping to put her in her place. Before he could get too close, Marina jumped on front of her.
?: What is this, the babysitting team?
The man grabbed Marina by the hair and lifted her up.
?: Listen lady, you keep that little bitch-
Red knocked the man over with a powerful punch. He rose back to his feet and kicked her in the stomach. She realized quickly that the people on the second floor weren't the type she should hold back against. The man pulled out a knife to make an example out of Red for embarrassing him. Out if nowhere, Raioten grabbed the man's arm to use as leverage and kicked his face.
The force of his kick cleanly removed the man's jaw. As he fell to the ground, Raioten began to pummel his face into the ground. By the time his teammates ran forward, he had killed the man. Raioten roared out and grabbed the second man by the throat. In a violent flash of crimson, he ripped the man's throat out causing him to bleed out on the floor. Before the final aggressor could attack, a fancy dressed young man stood in between them all.
?: Get out of my way, Toshiro, that brat is gonna pay!
Toshiro: This team needs to be debriefed and those two specifically need to go directly to the infirmary.
?: You think I'm just gonna let y-
Toshiro: You should be thanking me, I saved your team from elimination. Had I not stepped in, you would've been killed by a child.
Toshiro left the man lost for words and turned to the trio.
Toshiro: Hello there, I'm Toshiro. I stay on the third floor and act as the guide for anyone new to the second. I'll just be giving a tour and explaining how things work, and I'll do that after we get the two of you to our infirmary.
With Raioten's prior injuries and Marina's pregnancy, the two were taken to be checked out by the medical staff. Raioten however, avoided Toshiro like the plague and ran off on his own.
Red: No wait!
Toshiro: Don't worry, he seems like a tough one. Let's get you looked at. I'll go find your friend myself in a moment.
Marina was checked to make sure her pregnancy was still continuing smoothly. She and Red were surprised at how much nicer the second floor was than the first. Marina followed the staff's orders. When Toshiro returned, the girls were surprised to see Raioten. He refused to get on the examination table because of the previous table he was on. Before Raioten could attack the doctors, Red grabbed his hand gently.
Red: They just want to help you I promise. Could you try to behave yourself, please?
Raioten didn't understand why she was so persistent, but she was too strong for him to challenge her request. Being touched and ogled at by multiple doctors, Raioten was extremely uncomfortable. Each one of them marveled at how he was even able to move given his body's condition.
Even among those training to be superhuman, the doctors took note of Raioten's extreme resilience and his body's natural recovery rate. They pressed a few buttons on the table and the machine wrapped around Raioten. He panicked being surrounded in a tight space, but the doctor's calmed him down before he could destroy it.
He could see out of a small window and nodded when the doctors asked if he was ok. The orb filled up an odd fluid, that startled Raioten initially. His panick subsided when he realized that he could breath fine even under the water.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
?: You'll have to stay in here for about 15 minutes alright? I'll be back to let you out then.
Raioten nodded and moved around as much as he could in the small space. The doctor muttered to himself about the unique physical traits Raioten had as Toshiro led the girls out to finish the tour. He explained that only Marina would be exempt from educational courses since she graduated college.
Red and Raioten were expected to report to class each day at 6:30 am. After classes, at 9:00 am, they were to report to the gym for workouts. Everyone was expected to exercise daily, until 11:30. At that time, they would all leave and go eat lunch together. Toshiro explained that keeping the teams together was extremely important.
At the end of every year, all of the teams would compete to move up to the upper floor. Just as the second floor was better than the first, the third floor was hailed as a paradise. Those who could make it up there were treated to some of the finest luxuries that money could buy. It was fitting as only the most powerful of the prisoners ever made it to the third floor, and they were seen as a massive commodity.
After lunch, the teams were free to do as they pleased. The only stipulation was that they remained together. The second floor was more civilized that the first, but there was no penalty for killing each other, so staying together was a must. Toshiro made it especially clear to Red that they needed to be careful.
She needed to work well with Raioten to cover for the fact that Marina wouldn't be fit to fight for awhile. Leading the girls back towards the infirmary, Toshiro stopped to point at a seemingly random steel door.
Toshiro: And whatever you do, steer clear of that doorway. The Futurists are doing some crazy experiments in there and you wouldn't want to get caught snooping around. If you see anytime come out of there, pretend that you didn't. Anyway, you three won't have much time to prepare for the end of the year evaluation, so don't worry too much about it. Keep yourselves in shape and stick together.
Red: Says you! We're gonna win it all!
Toshiro: I love the spirit but seriously, you've only been here for a little over a year. Some of these guys have been here longer than you've been alive.
Red: Wait, how do you know when I got here?
Toshiro: I'm not much of a fighter, but information is my specialty. Now let's go meet back up with your friend, he should be healed by now.
The three entered the infirmary and saw a confused Raioten. He was in total shock at how great he felt coming out of the machine.
Marina: How are you feeling little Blue? You look much better!
As Blue stared daggers at her, the doctor came back with somber eyes.
Doc: We're sorry ma'am, but we're having some difficulties with the machine. This machine is supposed to heal a person naturally but at an extreme rate. For some reason, that scar on his face and shoulder didn't heal a bit during treatment and we're not sure why.
Marina: Oh Blue. Yona would be so sad to see your face right now.
She placed her hand on his scar and he winced a bit at her displeasure, pulling his face back. Hearing that Yona wouldn't like the way he looked also hurt his heart.
Marina: It's ok Blue, you look really manly!
Doc: Don't worry, I'll figure out how to fix that soon.
Raioten walked up to the doctor and pulled on his coat.
Doc: Yes, what is it young man?
Raioten removed the wedding bands that Yona gave him. He presented them to the doctor.
Doc: These are very pretty. The simple design is flawless, where did you get these?
Raioten's face was flush with horror. He shook his head violently, presenting the rings again.
Doc: I'm not sure what you want young man.
Red: Maybe he wants you to have them.
Raioten shook his head. He held them tight in his fist and put them to his heart. He then pointed at Toshiro. He was wearing stylish earrings.
Toshiro: Me? What can I do for you young man?
Red: If this dummy would talk it would be so much easier.
Marina: You want to keep them safe right little Blue? You want them to be earrings like his?
Raioten nodded and stuck out the rings again.
Doc: These aren't earrings my boy, these are meant to be worn on your fingers.
Raioten began to tear up.
Toshiro: Oh come on Doc, help the kid out!
Doc: Alright alright, I'll do what I can. We may have a prime facility but we don't exactly have ear piercing equipment.
The doctor mumbled and struggled to find something to piece Raioten's ear. When he couldn't, he settled on a hole puncher.
Doc: I seriously am asking you to reconsider young man, this is not ideal.
Raioten said nothing, but his determined eyes told the Doctor that he would not be stopped. Try as he might though, the doctor could not punch a hole in Raioten's earlobe.
Doc: Are you made of granite or something? This isn't going to work.
Red: I'll do it softie, give it here.
Red took the hole punch and was able to jam a hole in each one of Raioten's ears. The Doc used tools for laser surgery to cut the bands so that they cut be fit inside of Raioten's ears. After they were in place, he welded them whole again. The Doc led Raioten to a mirror.
Doc: How's that young man?
Raioten began to cry, and hugged the man in thanks.
Marina: Come on now Raioten, we need to get to our room.
