Okun must keep his identity a secret in a world where only those with brightly colored hair can use magic. He was born with brown hair, marking him a slave. After accessing magic that was thought to be outside his grasp and escaping servitude, he must keep his identity a secret while making a living and finding his place in the world. He will meet those who see him as a friend and others who see him as an enemy, all the while struggling to learn to use the magic that had been denied him all of his life.
