About 10000 years ago, in the land of Ultra, the great warrior Carthalos slayed the ruling gods, after drinking and bathing in the Fire Eternal, a primordial source of power. He freed humanity from divine enslavement, after which he unified several human kingdoms into a single Empire. He then created 19 Magisters, mighty sorcerer-judges who pass out judgement in the 19 provinces of his empire, granted with parts of the Fire Eternal. However, as Carthalos remains dormant into his chamber for the last thousands of years, the Magisters are the ones responsible for keeping the peace in the realm.
