Chapter 54: Alchemist Green 2

"Poison Bomb!" Kenley instantly recognized the object's origin.

It was a skill commonly used by thieves, one of the most valuable abilities for early-stage thieves. But why was the vial green instead of the usual purple one seen in the game?

Thieves, unlike warriors, specialize in stealth, traps, and gadgets. Before level 10, they only have basic skills like stabs, sweeps, kicks, rolls, and blocks. After level 10, they unlock their class abilities: Stealth, Trap Sensing, Poison Bomb, and Backstab.

Thieves rely primarily on agility, with secondary emphasis on strength and intelligence. In the early stages, melee classes like thieves and warriors are relatively evenly matched. But in a direct fight, three thieves wouldn't stand a chance against a warrior.

Kenley couldn't help but mutter,"You're pretty bold!"

Kenley broke into a cold sweat. This guy was throwing things without even aiming. This was Green's Alchemist Shop, and the potions hanging on the walls were all valuable. If those potions were destroyed, Kenley couldn't even imagine how Green would react.

When facing a poison bomb, the key was not to block with a sharp weapon, as it would cause the bomb to explode.

"I'll kick it!" Kenley shouted, delivering a flying kick that sent the poison bomb back towards the thief. The thief was startled, but his reaction was too slow to match the speed of the bomb's return.

  Boom!

With a loud explosion, the poison bomb instantly detonated. The green poison started to hiss and bubble on the thief's body.

"Ugh~! Ahhh~!" The thief seemed to recognize the poison, his eyes filled with terror as he twisted and screamed in agony. The poison corroded his body without mercy.

A foul stench instantly filled the air. The poisoned thief slowly turned into a cloud of green smoke and was completely killed by the poison.

Kenley cursed under his breath."What the hell! This looks like the venom from a toxic swamp lizard! Where did this guy get this stuff from?"

Thankfully, he had reacted quickly. If the poison bomb had hit him, there was no doubt his fate would've been the same as the thief's. Kenley realized he needed to be extremely careful; his enemies might have more of these bombs.

"You bastard!" The thieves were furious. They never expected this human warrior to kill their comrade. They lunged toward Kenley, activating their Thrust skills.

Fight head-on? Kenley sneered. The reason he had moved to the gap earlier was to avoid getting backstabbed by the thieves.

Sweep! When it came to facing them head-on, Kenley wasn't backing down.

But then Kenley saw something unexpected: three thieves had activated Thrust, while another thief had raised a poison bomb.

Purple? Kenley saw it clearly—it was a typical poison vial for thieves, which would inflict a Poisoned status on the target, dealing 2 damage per second for 1 minute.

It seemed that the thieves didn't have any more green poison bombs, which made sense since they must be quite expensive. However, even with the purple poison, Kenley wasn't entirely out of danger. Unless he had an antidote or a detoxification spell, he still had to be cautious. Moreover, these thieves didn't seem like ordinary rogues, and the purple poison might be from some high-level monster's venom. Kenley had to stay alert.

Their coordination was quite good: three thieves in the front and one in the back for ranged attacks. But Kenley was completely unfazed. With a swift Sweep, combined with the longer reach of his Imperial Military Sword compared to the thieves' short blades, the thrust from one thief on the left couldn't be stopped in time and was instantly decapitated by Kenley's sword.

Blood splattered everywhere, and it quickly stained Green's counter. Green finally lifted her lazy head, her cold eyes scanning the chaos inside the shop. It was as if the death of a person in her own store didn't even faze her.

The other two thieves' thrusts arrived immediately, but Kenley grinned."You guys are out of luck." With that, he swiftly turned and charged toward the back.

"What?!" The two thieves didn't expect Kenley's reaction to be so fast, and they were caught off guard by his sudden reverse movement using Charge.

  Boom!

"Ugh~ ahhh!" Another poison bomb exploded, and since Kenley had vacated his position, one of the thieves ended up eating his teammate's bomb.

How stupid. While their front-back attack coordination was a good idea, these thieves were like a group of disorganized stragglers, with no teamwork at all. If this were Kenley's own team, they'd probably be berated for this poor performance. Who hired these thieves? Was it for their cheap price or something else?

The poisoned thief groaned in pain for a while, then hastily took an antidote from a pouch at his waist and drank it down.

Phew. It looked like a regular rogue's poison. Seeing this, Kenley let out a small sigh of relief; as long as it wasn't the monster-level venom from before, he was fine.

At that moment, a lazy voice called out,"Who gave you permission to fight in my shop? Are you going to pay for all the broken vials and bottles here?"

Upon hearing Green's voice, all the thieves turned their attention toward her. But Kenley noticed that the thief leader was missing. He quickly realized that the leader had probably gone into Stealth while Kenley was occupied with his subordinates.

A thief's stealth ability couldn't be used in front of enemies unless they had entered a Bronze Body state. That meant they couldn't go invisible if someone was watching. Kenley immediately pressed his back against the wall. When facing a stealthy thief, the first thing was to ensure your back wasn't exposed.

"I suggest you mind your own business," one of the thieves said coldly.

"Oh?" Green smiled faintly, but Kenley knew that these thieves were about to be in trouble.

Kenley's eyes shifted, and he called out,"Teacher Green!"

"I'm not your teacher yet..." Green's lazy attitude remained unchanged, even after hearing the thieves' threats.

Kenley grinned,"Well, you will be my teacher in the future."

"What do you want?" Green asked.

"Here!" Kenley immediately threw three shining gold coins from his chest. Green's reaction was quick—she raised her hand and caught all three coins, not dropping a single one.

  What fast reflexes!

Seeing that she accepted the coins, Kenley smiled and said,"Now you're my teacher."
