Chapter 20

It’s been 3 days since the completion of the maze game and the trio has been getting along well. Loid started to get more comfortable with Riveria and Riveria has started to enjoy the groups time together as well. Even Jack was beginning to feel a bit of care for the other two participants.

But they were eventually called to the main room once again for their next game.

“All participants please make your way to the main room!”

A new Onlooker, and by the sound of it, this guy is more respectful compared to the previous two.

As Loid, Jack and Riveria walked through the hallways to the room, Loid began to speak.

“Hey um…Mr Jack, I could be wrong but I feel something is different about you.” The boy started.

“What do you mean?” Jack asks, raising his eyebrow slightly.

“Well…when we first met you seemed kind of cold I guess. Your eyes looked empty, soulless I guess. Actually, it was the same as that weird man we met in the maze. But now it looks like it has a little spark of light in it that wasn’t there before.” Loid says while twiddling his thumbs nervously.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Jack’s eyes widen slightly before returning back to normal.

  “Maybe you’re right.” Jack replies.

“Guys! Pay attention, we’re in the main room.” Riveria exclaims.

The two stopped walking and walked a bit back to get back to Riveria. Just like how Jack suspected, a new Onlooker was standing in front of them.

“Now that you’re all here, let’s get started!” Jewel exclaimed with a wide smile.

This guy is certainly pretty energetic. Maybe we’ll get an easy game this time.

“My name is Jewel and as you guys probably figured out by now, I’m an Onlooker. Today’s game is going to be really similar to a game you all know.” Jewel starts off, still being energetic.

All the participants started to focus on what Jewel had to say. Even General Forsquave who was leaning against a wall and seemingly ignoring the Onlooker, began to pay attention.

  “The game is…tag!” Jewel exclaimed.

Tag? Why the hell are we playing tag? Is there a twist that makes it as dangerous as the other games?

Jewel snaps his fingers and everyone teleports out the room and into a new area.

  We’re outside?

All the participants had been teleported to a sandy outside area that was closed off like a box due to seemingly infinitely large borders trapping them inside. The hot blistering sun beamed down upon them which caused some of them to start to sweat.

“Now let me explain why this tag is a bit different than others. There are currently 350 of you left after the previous game. Each round 50 of you will become tagged and tag others to transfer the status of being ‘it’ to the other player. Said player will now become a tagger while the one who tagged them returns to regular player. A glow on the player will signal they are a tagger. Once 10 minutes have gone by. The players that are taggers will die. The use of abilities, murder, and coordination will be allowed.” Jewel explains with an unfaltering grin.

A game like this will cause complete and utter chaos among participants to survive. Unlike the last game we’ll all see each other die one by one and it’s not as strength reliant as game 0. This game requires wit and unwavering determination to survive.

In the back of the crowd of participants, Jack turned around to see General Forsquave who was silently grinning and staring directly into Jack’s eyes.

  What’s this freak planning now?
