A New World

I can’t believe that I’m saying this, but it seems as though I’m a bit younger than I remember being. Not even a child, but I’ve literally just been born. What’s even weirder though is that I seem to have gained a system similar to those RPG style games I played back on Earth.

It's truly something that I’m struggling to wrap my head around, not only was I reincarnated, but it seems that there might also be access to magic based off the mana that I can see in my status.

First of all, I don’t have a name. Mind you, I can’t seem to remember what my name was before I was, well here. Secondly, I have an achievement, I’m not quite sure that that really means. Mentally trying to look into what Outworlder actually meant, a screen similar to my status screen popped up.

Focusing the same on my trait too, a similar screen popped up again.

  “&#@@$##%Y #RK,” was said excitedly.

When I opened my eyes, they burnt, struggling to adapt to the light after a lifetime of darkness. After a brief period, my eyes adjusted to the light allowing for me to take in the surroundings of my new life for the first time. Peering down at me, over the sides of a wooden cradle, stood two excited human parents. I breathed in internal sigh of relief. I can't tell you how grateful I am to be reborn as a human and not some weird and unfamiliar form. I closed my eyes, trying to understand or at least make sense of what was happing to me.

'I hope that I grow up to look like my parents,' I thought to myself. They were truly a domineering presence in the room. My father towered a good foot over my mum, standing at easily 6'2 and built enough to put professional body builders from Earth to shame.

From what I've been able to piece together so far, I seem to of been reincarnated or transported to another world as a baby. Not to mention this world seems to have some kind of leveling system, which, I have no idea how this is supposed to do or how it's even possible for something like the system even to exist.

More words were spoken in hushed tones from my parents, I opened my eyes and looked up to see my parents motioning at someone to come over to them. In the next moment, another two people bearing a striking resemblance to my mother came over and peered into my cot. Involuntarily, a cooing noise came out of me causing my mum to pick me up and started to rock me gently, only stopping briefly to shift her hazelnut hair out of her eyes. Whilst all of this was happening my father had been talking to who I assumed where my grandparents. I couldn't understand what they were saying but one thing was made abundantly clear by the system.

Ding! User has been named Oliver Ardyn

Ding! User has unlocked Lorian Common

Well, that was something, I guess. It seems as through simply learning my name was enough to get the first level in this new language. I really hope the rest of these ten levels are just as easy. After being nursed for a while longer, and as uncomfortable as it was, being fed by my mother. I was finally put back into my cot to go back to sleep.

"Goodnight *&#^ #&%#& #? Oliver," my mother said as she stroked my head before leaving me alone in the room.

Just as I'd begun to close my eyes to drift back off to sleep, the system spoke to me once again.
