When the call connected the first one to talk was Raia's mother “Dear are you ok, was the trip calm? Did you get attacked, did…” “Mom calm down I am here and I am ok, how are aunt Laura, uncle Klaus, Lilia And Marcus?” ”My husband and I are doing well. The children are at the academy and didn't get in trouble, yet.
I am assuming they are fine.” Said aunt Laura.
“Hy aunty Laura, mom I called to let you know that I am fine and to ask if you would be fine with me trying to enter the Bloodlust guild.
I think I won't have that much of a problem entering, and it could be good to be part of a top guild while being at the academy, with them I could actually shoot for Platinum before the year and a half is up and I have to return to the capital for the academy.
That would also further bolster my standing and since nothing can change my blindness apart from that… any boost that I can get is something more that I can bring to the table.”
“I think that it's not a bad idea and you would certainly benefit from it.
Laura, what do you think?”
I think she should accept but she doesn't need to, she is first of all, the apprentice of the Royal guards captain, but yes the more the merrier.”
“You heard her Raia, you have our full approval, go for it.”
“Thanks mom, thanks aunt Laura; I have to go now I'll call you whenever I can, bye.”
The call cut off.
Raia put away the cristal and went back to the adventuring guild hall where the guild master and her travel companions were.
She went directly to the guild master and asked: “I'd like to take part in the examination to be part of the guild.”
“Perfect we have our first candidate, now go to the reception desk and fill the form so that we can begin once the others have made their decision.”
“Sorry if I seem rude but like I think you noticed I am blind so unless the ink contains mana I am not gonna be able to read it alone same with writing even if in that case I would go by memory, it wouldn't be really good because the spaces would be all messed up but yes, I will probably need assistance.”
“Right… Mira, would you please help the girl out please.”
“Yes guild master.”
Raia went towards the voice of the girl and stopped herself in front of the figure of mana she sensed.
“Hi Miss Mira, thank you for your help.”
“Don't worry about it, let's go.”
Raia followed her to a counter where she began reading her the form, it was a simple one name, age, type of magic and an optional one for your blessing then your signature and you were done for the examinations.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
Strangely the adventurer rank wasn't needed but then she thought about the fact that every adventurer was required to show their badge at all times so there probably wasn't need to write it or the lady didn't mention that question since she could fill it herself.
Raia filled all the required ones and left the blessing one blank.
Then she was taken to a lobby where she was told she would have to wait for everyone to make a decision and then they would have their duels.
She ended up waiting for an hour and only that because after 30 minutes the others were told that there was a time limit to choose.
In the end only one person apart from her decided to try and join the guild and based on his annoying voice it was the same guy she had a… disagreement with.
“This time you will not out shine me girl.”
“Is that why you were so mad during the trip because a girl outshined you.”
She snickered.
“How old are you if it is not too rude of me to ask.”
“I turned nine 6 months ago.”
“Ok and how old do you think I am?”
“Well based on how you fight and the level of spell you use, probably ten.”
“So you thought I failed to enter a magic school, either you change that mentality of yours or you won't make it far.
I turned 8 a few days before the start of our trip.
Now please stay silent.
I need to concentrate.
Raia obviously couldn't see that but the kid was flabbergasted about what she just said so he did as she said and just shut up.
After a few minutes Mira returned and asked who would like to go first, the boy instantly asked if he could and after Raia confirmed that for her it was no problem if he went first she started explaining what they would do for the dueling part.
“You are both gonna fight against some of our strongest fighters relative to your rank which is the same, to counteract the advantage the second person would have we have two options, either the simpler one you fight less duels but different peoples or the second one the one who isn't fighting stays back in this room and you both fight the full number of duels.
The problem with the first option is that we have ranks inside the guild and as already mentioned by the guild master before you will fight our top ten fighters of your rank, even if it's not a clear cut ranking depending on match ups and elements pairing in a fight, you both would still skip some steps so what do you both want to do?”
“If he is ok with it then I would prefer to fight all of them.”
“I am ok with it, we can start whenever you want.”
“Perfect, I'll stay here and wait.”
Like that the boy was led to the training ground where the duels would be held.
In the meantime Raia started practicing a few drills and doing some light stretching just to get her body moving.
While doing this about 10 to 15 minutes pass and Mira returns with the boy that only now Raia realises she doesn't know the name of.
Well, her first interaction with him wasn't good and then she never got around to asking him.
“Raia it's your turn.” said Mira, taking her out of her own head.
“I'm here.” said Raia while going towards and then starting to follow her.
They went to the training ground and the first thing she sensed were obviously ten mana signatures of various different strengths, all with a little silver attachment on their body.
“Raia meets your opponents, boys and girls meet Raia.
Of the ten people only two were girls and they both seemed dexterity fighters, which didn't surprise Raia since at this low ranks you haven't used your mana enough for it to be integrated with your body enough for girls to match boys in physical strength on average, so the most popular way of fighting for girls became dexterity based.
The other eight boys seemed more balanced in their way of fighting, two seemed pure warriors, one didn't have any discernible weapons so Raia assumed for a body enchanting magic or a mage without casting focus one seemed a rogue, one a pure mage and the other four all had bows.
“Now Raia, your first opponent will be Marcus.
Marcus, please come here.”
After he had come and she sensed him in front of her he said: “Hi I'm Marcus” and he offered his hand to shake so she did.
“Let's have a good duel.”
“Yes, let's.”
