Chapter 14

When they got to the room, they picked up the kid and went into another room, where Mira explained that before the written test they would have lessons on the material requested in the test so that they would not advantage anyone from a richer family, at least in the theoretical side of things.

Since with the practical test being a duel, someone who has been trained from birth was naturally gonna have an advantage over someone who didn't but that couldn't be avoided so they tried to make it fair where they could and give everyone the same chance.

The lessons would be given over a week (which is ten 10 days and every month has 40 days) one 1 hour lesson every day, so that you are able to still adhere to your patrol time, training times, guard duty and still have an hour of free time not counting breakfast, lunch and dinner.

If a lesson were to get delayed due to a monster attack, then the entire schedule will be pushed back by how many days it takes to stop it.

In the meantime you both will act as normal members but you will have a provisional badge.

There are a few things you can't do as a provisional member, and that is: request to borrow gear unless it's sparring gear in the training yard, you can't decide your own teammates, the team will be provided for you based on your performance in the duels, and your missions will be assigned ones instead of chosen by you and your teammates at the guild.

You will be given your team and first mission tomorrow at 10:00 after your first lesson that will start at eight.

After you are assigned your team you will have two and a half hours to practice with them, then you'll have lunch and at 13:00 your mission will start.

After you finish, the rest of the day is free for you to do whatever you want.”

“Is there a library here?” asked Raia.

“Yes but why? Sorry if I seem rude but you are blind you can't read.”

“No offence and I actually can read.

I just need books written with mana ink and I can just ask the librarian for help anyway.”

  “True.

I would not recommend it though, the librarian is a very grumpy guy and doesn't like talking to people but if you want the library is…

If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.

Wait not to be rude but how do I give you directions?”

“You just give me your normal directions, my mana sense is strong enough to take in both sides of a street for a few meters both in length and in height so I will manage.”

Ok so after exiting the guild building go to the left and after a few minutes you should see the sign of a pork with a fork and a knife, after that building you will go left and a few buildings after that you'll see a building with books behind glass panels that is the library.

Sadly there are no signs or anything to distinguish the library from a normal building.”

“Ah don't worry, glass is normally thin enough to be able to be sensed through so finding the building with tons of books inside won't be too difficult.

At worst I'll ask someone on the street.”

“Ok, have a good read, Raia.”

  “Thanks, bye.”

After Raia exited the guild she followed the directions that Mira gave her and thankfully the glass was not too thick so it didn't completely block her senses.

She entered and went to the counter where she found a very strange sight, a dwarf.

“Hy, I would like to know if there are books written with mana ink?”

The dwarf, without even looking up from the ledgers he was holding, responded that they were on the third shelf to the right of the stairs on the second floor.

And that if she needed a table it was exactly two shelves down from there, and to leave him alone.

  Raia did exactly that.

She went to the second floor and found the section with the books written in mana ink.

She started reading the titles and one of them caught her eyes, “The history before The Fall”.

This was obviously a history book and she just became old enough to read it, since at the palace they wouldn't let her read books like this one before, because she was too young, and they always said “after you become an adventurer and kill your first monster.”

Well that time had come and now she would read it.

The book started with a premise, “The world was very different before and since I lived through all of it I should know I am an elf after all and at the time I am writing this I have made it to 1000 years old.”

She was absolutely flabbergasted because like the dwarf at the counter, long lived races were extremely rare the more long lived the rarer they were, some of them were basically extinct if not completely extinct.

Apart from the lower fertility because apparently the more you lived the less kids you were able to have they were also basically always fighting the greater threats since they were more powerful and more experienced.

Their mana is said to be extremely high, more than double of mine; and it is said that there are also differences in the blessings they receive.

After calming down a bit she finally decided to turn to the first page of the book and start reading.

“The Fall started when I was barely 100 years old, the world at the time was already not in a great time, we just came out from a famine and we were on path to recovery but fate decided to destroy what little remained of us.

In the sky over the capital a gigantic portal appeared.

That same portal started emitting a new type of energy never before seen in our world, and a crown appeared on top of it.

When the new energy started leaking out, the leaders of every race flew out of the old capital's castle.

Once they all got in front of the portal chaos ensued.
