John was a slacker in school; he never did any extra activities, contributed the least when it came to group activities, and slept in class. Even though he is lazy, John never scored under sixty percent in any tests. Due to his lazy attitude and his loner personality, John prefer having no friends, other than gaming pals.
John would enjoy his days by playing games, particularly fantasy games. John also reads science fiction stories if he isn't playing games. After school, John would first do his homework and study before evening to play. On weekends, Saturday and Sunday, he does what he wants, well after he's done his chores at home. Since he never failed a subject, the teachers can't really do anything other than nag at him.
One morning in school, while John was sleeping on his arms on his desk, he started having vivid images flash through his mind, like a dream. He saw a prosperous technological imperial capital, flying vehicles, high-rise buildings, and even a few beautiful green domes were seen within the capital. Then the images start to change, vehicles falling from the sky, buildings falling apart, and even those domes crack open, revealing inside trees and plants. There were no conflicts among the populace, but the air of doomsday could be felt even by John.
The dream wasn’t long, and it was only images that were to be shown. No sound, no motion, like a bad quality slideshow where every time the image changes, it puts a pure white intermission between, and you're wearing a virtual helmet while watching.
“Hmm… What a weird dream… John muttered with a lackluster voice as he opened his eyes slowly, but halfway through, his eyes shot wide open in shock; John was stunned by what he saw.
He was drifting in an ethereal space. The surroundings were void, with specks of light of different colors appearing here and there. What caught John's focus was the blue virtual screen that appeared before him just then.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
’That’s odd.’ John thought to himself as he looked at the out-of-place text on the window that was a different color.
John put that aside for now and focused on going through the information first.
“So I am a nanobot, and I just got rebooted… With new hardware? And has a new system? Which I was lucky to get with such a high failure chance? I was always a bit lucky. Is this a dream?”
John was perplexed. He still didn't understand how he had ended up in this predicament. Either he had died, or his soul had been transmigrated. He was unsure which scenario was accurate. It felt like it was just a bad dream.
Putting that aside, there were three additional screens along with two 3D virtual boxes. One of the 3D boxes looks like a 3D map with a white glowing dot at its center, surrounded by gray dots all over the white dot, as if it were buried beneath them.
The other 3D box housed a mechanical bug-like model at its center, which represented its body. Additionally, there were statistics provided about the model, and based on these figures, it was clear that the model was significantly weak and required numerous secondary units to enhance its strength.
As for the screens, he believed that the central one provided an overview, while the other two were currently blank.
Nanobots are really weak on their own.
