Path of the Expanding Spear
Aspects of Light and Cloud
Typical Goldsign: Skin that has paled and has a light blue tint
Typical Iron Body - Sky’s Secret: This Iron body focuses on making both spirit and body adapt well to rapid change, assisting in reparation after using Supernova Veins. However, the main ability of this Iron body is to speed up the mind to a point where it can react much faster than the body, which can lead to the body falling behind.
Typical Cycling Technique - Spirit Nimbus: Cycling Technique focuses on rapid madra regeneration.
Techniques
Forger/Enforcer Technique - The Expanding Spear: The technique for which this path is named, the Expanding Spear increases the length of your spear with forged madra and floods it with power, making this technique incredibly versatile.
Striker Technique - Mist Drops: This technique leaves what appear to be drops of madra in the air as the practitioner traces their spear in the air. The drops expand into spears once the technique is released, streaking forward along with a similar beam from the spear. More drops increase the strain on the spirit and are harder to control accurately.
Ruler Technique - Needle Storm: This technique takes control of the compatible aura in the area and condenses it around an enemy, using spears of light to pierce an enemy straight through.
Striker/Ruler/Enforcer Technique - Horizon’s End: One of the most complex and powerful techniques on the Path of the Expanding Spear, this technique involves pushing your madra into your spear, enforcing it and it’s madra extensions with more power than what would normally be held in the user’s spirit. This will go on for ideally as long as possible. Once the desired power is reached, it can be pushed out in a wave, imitating a large wall of dragon’s breath, which can be directed for either offense or defense. This wall of power can act as a shield, blocking attacks, or as a more concentrated beam, further resembling dragon’s breath. The most dangerous thing you can do in a fight against a sacred artist following this path is to give them time to form the Horizon’s End technique. This technique works significantly better the more the spear has been expanded.
Enforcer Technique - Starforged Veins: This full-body enforcer technique increases the body’s ability to react, limited only by the mind’s speed.
Enforcer Technique - Supernova Veins: This full-body enforcer technique is a much riskier but more powerful version of the Starforged Veins technique. This technique can take effect nearly instantaneously, but drains madra as if it were nothing. This technique is an all-or-nothing burst of power, potentially causing permanent spiritual damage if used before the Lord level.

Once Merian advances to Herald, becoming a Monarch, he manifests the Shield Icon, and steps into the Way to join the Abidan Titans. Merian becomes a valuable member of the division. Merian is considered a potential heir to the Mantle of Gadrael, but he declines, content to keep his mundane but vital job protecting his peers while they complete their own vitally important tasks. The Monarch becomes one of the strongest titans outside of Gadrael himself, especially when using the Horizon’s End technique. Merian starts to look into the healing aspects of the Light Icon, becoming both a shield that weathers the storm and a comforting glow that heals your wounds.

Merian ascends as a Sage, not manifesting any icons more than the Spear and Light Icons. Once he ascends, Merian works hard in Sanctum, planning on joining the Abidan Foxes. However, he eventually catches the eye of a high ranking member of the Phoenix Division. After further investigation, the Phoenix discovers untapped potential in this newly ascended Sage. The Light Icon is used by the Sage to add a deadly, searing glow to his techniques. The Phoenix interrupts the Sage during their personal training, giving pointers on how they could use their icon differently. Initially, Merian is unsure of the Phoenix’s advice, as he had never used any of his abilities for healing. The Phoenix returns to their station, and Merian tries out this new application of the Light Icon. The Sage meditates on the nature of the Light Icon, becoming more skilled in the art of healing and delaying joining the Fox Division. Merian grows a passion for the art of healing, increasing in strength and joining the Phoenix Division, going through life with a revitalized joy for advancement.

Without the attention of the Phoenix Division, the Sage of Shining Spears continues in their desire to join the Abidan Foxes, his path uniquely formed to dodge away from attacks, and the Sage himself skilled in spatial travel. Merian does not go very far among the Foxes, very skilled, but impassionate about the division itself. On a mission, Merian and his squad encounter a Class 3 Fiend, which easily erases them all before a stronger Abidan could rescue them. The Fiend was quickly dispatched, with Merian and his squad resurrected by a Phoenix. Merian eventually leaves the Foxes and lives on Sanctum, where he studies resources used by budding members of the Phoenix Division, igniting a passion for healing. Merian stays isolated in his studies, eventually joining the Phoenix Division. The Sage finally slows down in his advancement efforts, slowly becoming a stronger Phoenix, but most of all just enjoying every step of the journey.
