Chapter 101: The SSC Machine

“So what’s the only remaining option that we have?” asked Klumpkrump, sitting in the pilot room of their ship. Everyone else was there, too. They were in the pilot room and not the lounge because everyone needed to hear this story but they also needed someone (Bird) to pilot the ship too. Bird was listening and piloting at the same time.

“Listen up,” said Yearyo, Bear President. “A long time ago, about 3 years now, DeBear was well-known as a very good war general of the bears. In fact, he still is, but even 3 years ago, he was.”

  “Go on…!” suggested Plagiarize.

“I am already doing that,” continued Yearyo. “Anyways, we all knew how amazing DeBear was, and we decided that since he was so good, we had no option but to create a robot clone of him.”

  “Naturally,” said Hoofa.

“So, as the legend goes, the Bear King hired Kekeweke, head of the Department of Bear Technology, to create this robot clone. And that is just what he did. It took him a whole year, yes, and when he was done, he was given the highest of honors in Bear Society. However, when the Bear King took the robot clone for a test run, it exploded.”

“I thought this guy was supposed to be really smart,” remarked Snorter.

“Well, he was. The explosion was actually a bomb he snuck into the mechanism as an assassination attempt against the Bear King. It was specifically designed to not damage the robot clone too much. The Bear King sent an order for Kekeweke to be executed, but the bear had already escaped the planet on a ship of his creation. Nobody knows why he did what he did, and nobody has seen him since. But he would know how to fix DeBear II.”

“So how do we find him then?” asked Mushpuff.

“Well, after the assassination attempt, the Bear King wanted to find Kekeweke and kill him to deliver justice. He didn’t know where to look, though, so he sent out some ships to scan stuff, yes. And what he found may shock you.”

“What did he found?” asked Plagiarize.

“When he went to the device that collected all the data from all the scans,” continued Yearyo, “he was completely shocked. For, you see, there was an electric eel hiding inside of it, and it shocked him. He got shocked so bad that he sued the eel, and then there was this giant Bourt case which was really big and confusing. And amidst that confusion, I stole the scanning device.”

“Why would you do that, bro??” asked Hoofa.

“Well, you see, Kekeweke and I were good friends. I did not want the Bear King to execute him. By stealing his scanning device, I ensured that he would never find out where Kekeweke was. And he couldn’t make a new scanning device because they were made by Kekeweke, as he was the head of the Department of Bear Technology, if you recall.”

“So where is it now?” asked Mushpuff.

“It’s in my bearpack, see?” explained Yearyo, taking his bearpack off. He actually was wearing a bearpack this entire time. Crazy, I know. How unfortunate it is that I forgot to mention that until right now.

Yearyo set his bearpack on the ground and unzipped it. After rummaging through a bunch of random junk and stuff, he found what he was looking for. His bear hands produced a funky looking machine from the bearpack. It was rather small, about the size of a standard house cat that has been compressed into a cube. It had a cool high-tech screen on the top and a bunch of buttons and tubes and stuff all around it.

“This is a Bear-Tech Advanced Reinforced Ship Scan Collecting, Reading, Decoding, and Processing Machine, Eighteenth Edition,” explained Yearyo. “But you may call it the SSC Machine for short.”

Yearyo pushed a button on the SSC Machine and it came to life. It made a bunch of machinery noises and the screen turned on. Everyone in the immediate vicinity crowded around Yearyo and the tiny screen. On the screen of the SSC Machine was a little 3D environment with a bunch of stars and planets and stuff.

“Here’s the main interface of the thing, hmm?” explained Yearyo. “You can drag the screen around and look at all the data. But now we must find Kekeweke.”

“How does one do that, Yo?” asked Bird.

“We just have to tell it to search for anything unusual. And we do that by pressing this button here.”

Yearyo pushed a button marked “Search for Anything Unusual”. A loading bar came up on the screen, titled “Searching for Anything Unusual…” They all sat there for a couple of seconds as the Bear-Tech Advanced Reinforced Ship Scan Collecting, Reading, Decoding, and Processing Machine, Eighteenth Edition searched for anything unusual. Eventually some text popped up on screen as the view of the stars and planets zoomed off into the distance: “Something unusual has been found!”

The moving screen eventually slowed down as it zoomed into one specific planet. A short description of why this planet was unusual popped up on screen: “Detected unusually high amounts of jam on this planet.”

“Aha!” Yearyo exclaimed. “That has to be it! Kekeweke was well-known for his love of jam. He must be hoarding it there.”

“Then that is where we must go, Yo,” said Bird, entering the planet’s coordinates into their ship for navigation assistance. “We’ll be there within 4 days.”

“Man, this thing is so useful,” said Klumpkrump. “We can use it to find all sorts of stuff.”

At that exact moment, a warning popped up on screen: “Error! System overloading! Shut down immediately or it may violently explode!”

“Oh no!!” shouted Yearyo. “I suspected this device may have been unstable. It’s actually a prototype for the eighteenth edition. Let’s see…”

Yearyo reached for the power button, but it was already too late. Steam was pouring out of every orifice of the SSC Machine. He instead grabbed the machine, opened the outer door of the spaceship, and tossed it out. Except, as it turned out, Yearyo himself was sucked out of the door with it because of space physics and stuff. Trust me, that’s how it works.

“YEARYO!!” yelled just about everyone who was still inside of the ship.

“A bear muzt help a bear, yez!” shouted Qaeron, jumping out of the door behind Yearyo.

“Qaeron! Wait!” yelled Snorter. She then leaped out of the door behind him.

“Wait! Snorter! I’m coming!!” yelled Klumpkrump, jumping out the door behind her.

“Guys!” yelled Hoofa, slamming the door shut. “For the love of god, stop jumping out the door!”

“GET TO KEKEWEKE!!” yelled Yearyo as he tumbled through space followed by another bear, a pig, and a cat. “WE WILL FIND YOU!!” although, as he was in space, his statements sounded a bit more like this: “”. Nobody actually heard what he said.

Yearyo, Qaeron, Snorter, and Klumpkrump were now tumbling together through space. Conveniently, there was a planet nearby. Inconveniently, they were tumbling in the wrong direction. Suddenly, the SSC Machine violently exploded, launching all four of them in the opposite direction, back towards the aforementioned nearby planet.

“Bird! Turn the ship around and GET THEM!!” shouted Mushpuff, shaking Bird with all his might. However, him shaking Bird caused the poor penguin to accidentally smush a bunch of buttons on the ship’s control panel. One of the buttons he accidentally smacked was the Emergency Crash Button, a button to be used whenever you desperately need to crash the ship. The ship located the nearest planet, disengaged the hyper engines, and crashed into it at less-than-light speed.
