Chapter 20: Hobbies and Interests

Dragging his heavy body, the usually easy-to-hunt wild boar became much harder to deal with. Despite being far more agile than the boar, Zephyr found that before adapting to the sudden increase in weight, even the normally cumbersome boar seemed nimble.

However, the gap in strength couldn't be bridged by this alone. After dealing with the boar meant for food, Zephyr suddenly faced a more pressing issue: how to bring it back?

"Of course, you'll drag it back."

  "..."

"You know... why was this forest so ordinary before, but now it has become so rich?" Almost crawling back, Zephyr asked Loris, who was still sitting steadily on his back, out of breath.

"When I saved you, I left behind a range charm array."

  "Huh? What's that?"

"It attracts various creatures together. Seems like its effect is quite strong," Loris explained calmly, as if discussing something trivial.

"...This, is really powerful." Moving his mouth slightly, Zephyr said with some emotion. He wasn't sure if it was due to the strong adaptability of the creatures in this world or other reasons.

In less than half a month, a new food chain had formed in this forest.

Upon returning, Zephyr was disappointed when Loris didn't remove the gravity restraint from him. Under her watchful eye, he could not endure for long and had to drag his tired and heavy body to prepare the food according to the cookbook, starting to roast meat.

Staring at the flickering flames, Zephyr felt dizzy, almost hypnotized, longing for a rest.

  Snap!

A sharp pain on his head shattered his drowsiness, and he saw Loris' displeased expression, "The meat is burning."

"Oh, oh." Quickly using his claws to flip the roasting meat, Zephyr sighed inwardly. Sleeping would have to wait. While physical training had begun, today's magic studies hadn't started yet, and he knew Loris wouldn't let him sleep any longer.

After adding high-intensity training to his daily routine, Zephyr gained a new profound impression of the dragon physique. No wonder people were crazy about pursuing dragon bodies; such a physique was enviable!

On the first day, the gravity enhancement nearly exhausted him, but by the second day, Zephyr felt much lighter. Within just over half a month, besides feeling slightly off balance, his body had largely adapted.

For learning magic, Loris provided numerous books for Zephyr to read. Even though some knowledge wasn't immediately useful, accumulating it would certainly come in handy later.

"But can hard practice really produce battle aura?" Clenching his dragon claws, Zephyr still didn't understand how merely through intense training one could produce battle aura in this world. Was it because of the abundant external energy here?

As his mana accumulated, Zephyr's perception of free-floating energy improved. He was particularly interested in the magical tools he had collected. Through Loris' explanations, these tools were all based on array patterns.

Zephyr's collection included low-level, mass-produced items. As long as the corresponding materials were prepared and the magic arrays precisely engraved, they could be made. The engraved magic arrays needed modifications to store mana, enabling activation for use.

These were called mass-produced because the array patterns were standardized, allowing low-level mages to replicate them. However, not all mages could do it well.

Producing magic equipment required additional mental power and precise engraving of the magic arrays. Low precision led to decreased power and increased consumption, and vice versa.

High-quality magic equipment was mostly made by mages who had reached the entry stage. They could optimize and modify array patterns, even create their own unique ones, similar to personal handwriting.

The content remained the same, but the style, aesthetics, and nuances differed. The magic Zephyr was learning was akin to printed paper, general and common, serving as the foundation for all styles.

Like array magic, using another mage's optimized array patterns often didn't work because everyone's mental power differed—some gentle, others fierce, some externally strong, others weak. Magic array patterns were closely related to mental power, so except for basic unmodified patterns, modified ones were only suitable for the individual.

Even if some younger generations created optimized array patterns with elders' help, while the power might improve, the smoothness and fit could never reach the highest level.

"I don't know." Loris tapped on the rings around Zephyr's limbs, causing his steady stance to wobble, nearly making him fall, "Adapting this time won't be as easy as before."

"I know..." Waving his claws, Zephyr said somewhat regretfully. Rapid initial improvement was normal due to the low base, but as the base grew higher, the rate of improvement slowed down. During the initial adaptation to the gravity enhancement, Zephyr felt that the closer he got to the last few days, the slower the reduction in burden became each day.

As for fatigue from high-intensity training, he had adapted. Not adapting meant punishment. The seemingly delicate pseudo-loli was ruthless with her whip!

Noticing Zephyr adjusting to his body condition, she sat beside him as he picked up and examined a bracelet he had tossed aside earlier, "Are you interested in magic tools?"

"Well... I liked making small things before I crossed over." Zephyr scratched his head. Before crossing over, his favorite way to kill time was tinkering with things, whether assembling toys or dismantling gadgets. Any meticulous task could quickly focus his attention.

He couldn't achieve this level of concentration doing anything else.

"The creation of magic tools truly begins after reaching the entry stage. Before that, it's all apprentice work," Loris nodded gently, "So related knowledge can wait until then."

"It doesn't matter if I experiment a bit beforehand, right?"

"Not at all," Loris glanced at him, "As long as you're willing to dedicate study time to it every day, I have no objections."
