Chapter 39

  Supergirl’s fist collided with the Citadel soldier’s face, his head snapped back and struck the sidewalk as he collapsed, Supergirl threw her head back, breathing heavily, sweat dripping from her face and plastering her dark hair to her forehead, her chest heaved as she forced gulps of air in and out of her lungs, once she had caught her breath enough to talk she touched a finger to her earpiece,

  “Rachel” She gasped, it took a couple seconds for the response to come through,

  “Go for me” Rachel answered, her voice sounding a little pained,

  “I’ve got 4 down, where do you need me?” Kara asked, between breaths,

  “I still can’t get ahold of Donna or Garfield, we need to make sure they’re alright” Rachel said,

  “I can do that” Kara responded, she heard someone asking Rachel something in the background that the mic didn’t quite pick up, she lowered her voice a little, “Stay safe.”

  The massive Citadel soldier struggled against Wondergirl’s lasso, Beast Boy’s large, green gorilla hand cupped the back of its neck and repeatedly smashed its head in the brick wall they were standing near, Wondergirl had to dig her heels in to the ground to not be thrown around as it thrashed about, eventually the alien went limp and Beast Boy let it fall to the ground, Wondergirl collected her lasso as he contorted his body back to normal.

  “Great job” She said offering her hand up for a high five, which Beast Boy accepted,

  “You too, that was awesome” He said, before adding, “I think you could even make a career of this” Wondergirl laughed,

  “You really think so?” She asked, feigning flattery and striking an over dramatic pose.

  They were both still catching their breath when Beast Boy’s phone pinged, he looked up at Wondergirl,

  “Supergirl’s on her way, apparently some of the coms are down” He said, a few minutes later Supergirl landed close by, she told them everything she knew, before clicking her earpiece again,

  “Rachel” She said, there was a burst of static before the response,

  “I’m here” Rachel answered,she grunted like she was lifting something heavy,

  “I found Donna and Garfield” Kara said,

  “Everyone okay?” Rachel asked,

  “Everyone's good” Kara answered,

  “Okay, good, we really need to put a rush order on getting people to safety” Rachel was cut off by a loud burst of radio static.

  Artemis' fingers wrapped around the detonator, she found the right button with her thumb and pushed it down hard, she then immediately tossed the detonator into the wind and yanked at her parachute release cord.
