CHAPTER 37

  Chapter 37

Tamaran, 4 Years before the invasion of Metropolis. Palace Church.

X’hyasa pushed an old, damp cloth along the worn stone floor, she looked up at the sound of bare feet walking up the aisle,

“Princess Komand’r, how are you today?” The young Priestess liked the younger princess, she felt somewhat protective of her, she was 7 years her senior and had only begun her priesthood 2 years before, but had enjoyed mentoring the girl at least once a week since they had met,

“Do you have time to speak with me sister?” Komand’r asked, the Priestess nodded with a smile,

“For you I always have time” She carried her cleaning bucket to the corner of the room so it would be out of the way before leading Komand’r to her quarters where she brewed a pot of tea.

“Now, is this a personal visit, or a matter for the Church?” X’hyasa asked, handing the princess a cup of tea, Komand’r blew on the warm liquid,

“Both” She answered, quietly, before glancing nervously at the window,

“What is it that worries you?” The Priestess asked, Komand’rs hands in her hers,

“I seek forgiveness from the Great One” Komand’r said, looking up into her eyes,

“What have you done that requires forgiveness?” X’hyasa asked, Komand’r now avoided her eyes,

“It’s not for something I have done, but what I will do” She said, her voice dripping with sadness and remorse, X’hyasa lifted Komand’rs chin and smiled softly at her,

“Komi, you know that’s not how it works” Komand’r nodded, tears welling in her eyes, “Stay here with me, whatever you felt you would need forgiveness for doesn't have to happen, talk to me instead” The princess glanced at the window again,

“You’re wrong sister, it’s too late, I’m sorry” X’hyasa was about to ask why when there was a thud on the door to her quarters, “They promised you’d be ok” X’hyasa stood trying to understand what was happening, then the door was knocked off its hinges.
