Chapter 26
High above Metropolis, near the edge of the atmosphere soared a Hercules aircraft, 2 figures sat across from each other in the back, illuminated by the red lights above their heads, the boy had already checked both of their equipment a hundred times but the girl was still checking her’s 1 last time anyway, he gave her a thumbs up, a question, everything check out? She responded with a thumbs up, ready to go.
The light’s switched to white and the door in the back lowered slowly, the girl stood and walked over to the opening, she turned to face the inside of the plane, she gave the boy 1 last nod before tipping backwards out of the plane, she kept her eyes closed tight as she was sucked into the cold, outside air, when she opened her eyes it looked as though she was just hanging there, upside down in the air, her arms and legs spread wide, air passing through her, she let herself feel the rush of it all before forcing her arms to her torso, and pressing her legs together against the wind, she spun a half circle so her feet pointing toward the earth.

The 3 large ships came into view below as she broke through a layer of clouds, she reached up to her chest and pulled hard on the parachute cord, the canopy spilled out above her and a second later she was jerked to a slow, she looked around and saw her companion floating down on his own parachute a couple feet above her, she motioned to the craft on the right, before pulling on the right steering strap on her harness, she was shivering a little from the cold air seeping into her insulated jumpsuit.
The 2 heroes landed on top of the craft, their boots automatically magnetized to the roof, they released their parachutes and began making their way slowly toward the front of the ship, halfway through their journey the girl pulled a small circular disk from a pouch on her suit and leaned down on 1 knee, she placed the disk against the roof and twisted it several times until it was firmly attached, she then continued toward the front of the ship, when she reached the front the boy had already stuck 2 metal rods into the roof, they both attached 1 end of a cord to a handle built into the metal rod, and the other end to their harnesses, they gave each other a thumbs up and the girl detonated the explosive disk, before they both repelled down the side of the ship.
