Chapter 24

  Lex Luthor stood behind a podium in Metropolis City Park, a large group of journalists and reporters listened restlessly as he spoke,

  “Yes, it is true that LexCorp is currently developing security robots to aid law enforcement, I understand that some people may have concerns about this, what I don’t understand is why those same people are not outraged that Metropolis has a team of meta-human child soldiers operating within it, it’s not often that I agree with the Justice League, but for once I don’t feel the need to question their judgement when they refused to endorse the Titans, we’re not even certain that Batgirl and Robin, the leaders of the group, are adults,” Lex Luthor’s speech was interrupted by an explosion a couple feet from the stage.

  Lex was thrown back off the stage onto the concrete floor of the pavillion behind the stage, 3 large alien space crafts had appeared in the sky above out of nowhere casting massive shadows over the park, Lex got unsteadily to his feet, he stumbled around the stage,

  “Watch out” He heard a female voice shout from the panicking crowd, it took a long minute for him to find who it had come from, a woman in a dark blue police vest was pushing her way through the throng of people toward him, Carla threw herself into Lex Luthor, her shoulder slammed into his gut with her full body weight behind it, he was thrown back off his feet and saw the roof collapsing above where he had been standing he heard Carla cry out in pain as a pile of metal roofing and steel girders fell on top of her, Lex quickly crawled over to her.

  “Are you ok?” He asked, and then saw that she couldn't answer, 1 of the steel girders was laying across her chest and restricting her breathing, Lex immediately began pushing the girder, he was able to force it off her chest and onto her stomach,

  “Are you ok?” He asked again, she nodded painfully,

  “You need to get to safety” Carla instructed, but Lex shook his head,

  “I’m not just leaving you here, I’m gonna stay with, I’ll call for the LexCorp search and rescue bots to be sent out, they’ll have the equipment to get you free” He said, he took his phone out and dialed, as he waited for it to be answered he stepped away to find anything that could be helpful, the phone was answered,

  “Hello” It was the last thing Lex Luthor said, he heard the sound of metal scraping on metal, he turned just in time to see another girder giving out, it fell toward him and crushed his skull.
