Chapter 46

'How can she do it' thought Faesol, buried under a pile of blankets. She found it comforting and it reminded her a bit of her mother's warmth. The toasty feeling of laying under her mother's tail was something Faesol still recalled fondly.

Her mind wavering, she had seen the inner thoughts of the drugged Ursaring, she felt it's pain, she was forced to feel everything as it strongly radiated its feelings. A strong psychic could easily ignore such a trivial thing.

Faesol, being a psychic Pokémon for less than a year without a real help from anyone else. She wondered if Anya would know anything about being a psychic, in Faesol's mind Anya knew a lot of interesting stuff from the little she had told her about.

She had listened to the odd story Anya had told her, few things were left a mystery for her. She did not understand what a bear was, it wasn't an Ursaring, she knew about Pokémon. 'Anya's world didn't have Pokémon', she remembered being told.

No answers, ton of questions, her eyes felt heavy and soon she fell asleep.

  ------------------------------------------------

Waking up from her nap, Faesol looked for the patterns belonging to Anya and Samuel, she found that she could easily keep track where they were inside the house, as long as she focused on their patters. She easily saw Anya's unique pattern moving back and forth below her and another Human pattern which she recognized belong as Samuel's nearby too.

The patterns were interesting to her as if they were calling to her mentally, she had noticed that each Human have similar yet different psychic patterns resembling one another and Pokémon too have a pattern, different from Human and unique enough for each species having a bit more similarities.

One could say that psychic patterns were like a 3D mixture of constellations and mosaics. Each species with a different hard to distinguish constellation where, a small part meant the difference between being a Human or a Pokémon.

The mosaic part comes from the colors, Humans having a clear almost see through like shards in their mosaics and Pokémon having a mixture of colors, the patterns weren't exactly still, they moved and rustled like trees in the wind, every emotion felt, caused a different ripple, a different rustle, a flicker of color. The patterns were as alive as the person having them.

Anya's pattern is different, at first glance it looks like any other pattern, but the more one looks at it the more bizarre it gets, there are indeed two constellations, similar, but overlapping. This causes the mosaic like shards to twist, warp or compress. From what little Faesol did know about psychic patterns by observing others, she knew that something was off with Anya's, this was not natural, the colors were changing with every mental blink. Anya's pattern was acting as a lighthouse to any psychic to see, drawing attention to anyone curious to look.

To Faesol, this was a blessing, she could see the intricate constellation she could use to mentally connect herself to others, connecting to a Human has always been a bit of a challenge, one could easily send a mental images to whoever they wanted, but having an actual conversation was a whole other story.

Over time as Faesol's psychic abilities have grown more profound, she could see and interact more with patterns, she thought back at the Ursaring, on an instinctual level she knew something was wrong with it and now she knew, the Ursaring's pattern was broken, it was shattered to small fragments.

  -------------------------------------------------

Having enough about loitering around in contemplation, Faesol left the room mildly annoyed. Arriving downstairs and laying down on a high step, she looked at Anya and Samuel packing stuff at boxes.

It took a moment for Anya to notice Faesol, she gave her a smile and a small wave.

"What's going on?" Faesol asked Anya

"We are moving to a new place" she answered "It should be a lot bigger than this one" she continued.

"There are some wild stuff in these boxes, I didn't even know we had a tv, or a radio... on a hindsight, I should have guessed."

Anya then opened another box nearby, her mouth dropped open as she stared at the things she found inside. She slowly turned to Samuel her face filled with disbelief, Samuel noticed her staring and gave her an easygoing smile.

Faesol also got curious, she came closer and peeked over the edge of the box, what she found inside didn't look that impressive to Faesol, it had an odd white and red box with two smaller rectangles attached to the bigger one with a cord of sorts.

"What is this?" she asked Anya, who was slowly recovering from her recent surprise.

Anya stuttered for a moment, releasing an odd sounding chirp. "That, that my friend is a famous piece of Human technology, a real Famicon system." Oddly enough the name written on the front was in the Unown Script, instead of English.

  "What does it do then?"

"It is a game console, I'm not sure how to really explain video games to you" She said, while carefully taking out the console and a bunch of game cardridges.

Suddenly Samuel was right behind them. "These bring out so- many memories, it has been years, since I got these. If I remember correctly they are building a continuation for this line, Super Famicon as it was advertised. I haven't really kept track of the industry. I was called 'Flying Finger Sammy' back in the days, time sure flies huh?"

The sudden monologue caught Faesol and Anya by surprise, the whole thing left Faesol out of the loop as she still didn't know what Samuel was talking about or what this 'Famicon' even was. Anya on the other hand was more apprehensive and understood what Samuel was talking about.

"Wow, Can his fingers really fly?" Faesol, curiously asked Anya, while focusing her eyes on Samuel's fingers.

"What? No, its a title. People just thought he was that good with his fingers. That it seems like they were flying across the controller... I think."

  -----------------------------------------

Next thing they did was setup the old console and Samuel was showing them what it could do. The packing all but forgotten and the boxes left open in the living room. They were all huddled together on the sofa.

Samuel was talking animatedly clearly having some passion in gaming "This game here is called Metroid, you control a bounty hunter known as Samus and in the game you explore a bizarre world. This game is very difficult." Samuel expertly moved the character on the screen with the controller or as expertly as a early adopters could.

To Anya, Samuel's hand movement across the controller were solid, but she noticed that there were some rigidity in his hand movements, most likely due to the long idle period and his hands weren't as used to the controller anymore.
