"Ma-Ma-Master! T-that's a Disaster Wolf, Master!" Lara trembled in fear, clinging to him from behind.
The wolf stared at them with a terrifying gaze.
He patted her head and cast a barrier spell on Lara.
"Lara, don't be scared, okay? Now, go hide behind that tree until I say it's safe!" he said as he walked toward the Disaster Wolf with sharp eyes.
(A Disaster Wolf—a beast that destroys anything in its path. It's massive, with razor-sharp fangs and cws!)
(This creature is feared by everyone, especially merchants traveling in and out of the vilge.)
—GRRRHHH
The wolf growled, staring at him like prey.
He started casting a barrier spell to restrict the wolf's movements, preventing it from approaching Lara or escaping.
The wolf seemed to grin at him, baring its menacing fangs.
"Alright, if you're not going to attack first, then I will!" he decred, instantly shifting positions and nding a punch on the wolf.
—BAAMMM!
The Disaster Wolf was sent flying, unable to react to his speed.
It looked furious and retaliated with a howl, releasing a powerful wind magic.
—FWOOOSH!
"Argh… The wind pressure is too strong! I can't move!" he said as he was pushed back.
The wolf dashed toward him at blinding speed.
His eyes widened in shock.
"Urgh—"
The wolf sshed him with its long, sharp cws, sending him tumbling away.
Lara gasped and screamed.
"MASTEEEER!!!"
"Cough… Argh! Not only is it strong, but it's also incredibly fast!" He struggled to stand up, staggering.
Lara looked at him with teary eyes.
"MASTEEEER! Are you okay?!" Lara shouted.
The wolf lunged at him again, sshing with its cws.
"Urgh..." He was thrown back, blood dripping from his mouth.
Lara's eyes filled with tears.
"Master… Stop, Master! Remove the barrier! Let me help you fight that monster!" Lara pounded on the barrier, sobbing.
"AHAHAHA! Oyy, brat! You've been noisy this whole time! Can you shut up for a moment after I finish him off?" the wolf sneered.
(A little info: Not all monsters can speak the human nguage! Only certain ones can, and that includes the Disaster Wolf and Lara!)
His vision blurred slightly as he struggled to stand.
He gnced at Lara and froze upon seeing her crying.
Taking a deep breath, he muttered, "Mmmh, looks like I have to get serious. This isn't an opponent I can defeat easily!" He then soared high into the air.
Lara gasped in shock, realizing he was still moving.
"Master…" Lara wiped her tears.
The wolf was stunned to see him still standing after such a devastating attack.
"AHAHAHA! Interesting! Who are you, really? No one has ever survived my attacks before!"
He smiled at the wolf.
"Yeah… That was actually kinda fun…"
Suddenly, massive fireballs started appearing around him, multiplying rapidly.
"Mmmh, I might be overdoing it. Hopefully, my barrier doesn't break because of this magic!" he muttered while continuously generating fire spells.
Lara was so amazed that her mouth hung open.
The wolf grew slightly nervous and immediately yered barriers around itself.
"Tch… Maybe I went overboard with all these yers of protection! His attack can't be that strong!" the wolf grumbled.
He smirked at the wolf.
"Hehe, let's see whose barrier sts longer against hundreds of giant fireballs."
"Why do I have a bad feeling about this?! No way his barrier is stronger than mine! There's nothing to worry about!" the wolf tried to convince itself, but its expression showed doubt.
"Alright, get ready, Disaster Wolf! Enjoy every second of this—because this is a special gift just for you!" he grinned.
Lara continued staring at him in the same stunned expression, hopefully remembering to breathe.
The wolf smirked back at him.
"Heh, bring it on…"
Then, he unleashed a relentless barrage of fire magic at the wolf.
"Argh…! How is his magic this powerful?! His strength is on par with dragonkin—or maybe even greater!"
The wolf struggled, starting to panic.
"Hah… What am I afraid of? I just need to hold out until he runs out of energy. And when that happens, I'll strike back!" the wolf grinned menacingly.
He ughed at the wolf and said,
"Look! How long are you gonna wait for me to run out of energy?"
Then, he released his hidden aura.
The wolf's eyes widened in shock, its body trembling.
"W-What?!"
Panic spread across the wolf's face.
"No… No way! No way! No way!"
"H-His aura is filling the entire barrier… W-Who is this guy?! There's no way a human has this much energy—his aura is practically bzing!" the wolf stammered in terror.
(Let me expin briefly: Energy is what allows someone to use magic! And aura represents a person’s energy!)
(If someone's aura is massive, their energy is also immense. And he's been suppressing his aura to avoid drawing attention, just like before.)
He gathered all his fireballs into one gigantic sphere—massive beyond belief!
The wolf, already drained and severely wounded, muttered,
"Urgh… I… I won't be able to withstand that attack… I can't—"
—BOOOOOM!!!
The explosion sent fmes and smoke billowing everywhere.
He lowered his barrier, watching as the fire gradually faded.
Approaching the wolf, he observed,
"Ahh, just as I thought! He's only unconscious."
"Master… Master… Ehe! Hehe! Hehe!" Lara ran toward him, giggling.
"He's too strong… There's no way that attack was enough to k*ll him!" he thought while eyeing the wolf cautiously.
Lara tilted her head.
"Master! What's wrong? You're still staring at the wolf. It's dead, right?" Lara asked, confused.
"No, he's just unconscious from overusing his energy and getting severely injured!"
Lara was dumbfounded.
"Heeehhh… H-He’s still alive? How did he survive Master's attack?" Lara shivered.
(As expected, our MC is too kind—he only attacks enemies to the point where they can still survive.)
"He’s really strong, Lara. An attack like that wouldn’t be enough to k*ll him!" he said.
Lara trembled, gripping his hand.
"B-But what if he wakes up again, Master?!" she asked anxiously.
He smiled at her.
"Don't worry, Lara. He won’t be able to fight for days, so there’s nothing to fear!"
"But when he recovers, he'll start attacking people and merchants again!" Lara looked down, distressed.
"Master, remember when you first met me? I got injured because of that wolf!"
His eyes widened.
"Ehh? So it was because of him?!"
Lara nodded.
"Mmmh…"
—GRRRRHHH!
They both flinched as Lara yelped and hid behind him.
"Y-You… Why didn’t you k*ll me? You must want to, just like everyone else!" the wolf spoke weakly.
"At first, I thought about it—for the sake of everyone’s safety. But then, I decided to try something else instead!"
"Cough… What is it?" the wolf asked.
"Will you accept my request to stop attacking people?"
The wolf was startled.
"Huh? That’s it?!"
He nodded.
"Mmhh, that’s all!"
He approached the wolf and healed its wounds with magic.
Lara gasped.
"Ehhhh… M-M-Master, why are you healing him?! W-What if he goes berserk again?!" Lara pointed at the wolf.
The wolf was stunned.
"Y-You… You healed me?! But I haven't even agreed to your request! What if I refuse?!" the wolf asked nervously.
Lara was speechless.
"Heeehhh…"
He grinned.
"If you refuse, that's fine. But in that case, I'll have to imprison you with my barrier so you can’t hurt anyone again!" he said, scratching his head.
Lara fell backward in shock.
"Are you serious, Master…?"
"Ehh, fine then! I accept your request! Haha!" the wolf ughed.
Lara froze, her eye twitching.
