Chapter 39: Wave 9
Atlas awoke with a loud yawn, smacking his lips and stretching. Glancing around blearily, he struggled to remember what he had been doing. After a few seconds of drousy silence, Atlas remembered, springing to his feet. He had completed the eighth wave!
He quickly pulled up his notifications and skimmed passed all of the level up notifications before finally finding what he was looking for.

Item being created…
Item made!
Death Scythe (F): A weapon with extreme potential but low abilities. All debuffs are 1% more effective when wielding the scythe. Levels up in one kill.
It was not the best, but its potential was high, just like Reapers Suit, speaking of Reapers Suit, he hadn’t checked it in a while, and didn’t even really remember what it did. Maybe added defence? Deciding to just check for himself he brought up its stat screen.
Reapers suit: S grade. This suit cannot be destroyed, but it only blocks a small amount of damage received. All reaper abilities are four times as effective while wearing this suit. When blood is absorbed by the suit, the user's health and mana will be restored depending on the quality of blood absorbed. Level up by ???
It was actually really powerful, but did he even have any “Reaper skills?” Deciding to turn to his main source of information, he asked the system.
Avatar of Death, Ultimate Debuff, and technically Demonic energy, though currently only Demonic energy is being enhanced, because the suit can only enhance skills one level above it and downward currently, putting skills at SS rank and below as viable skills that are boosted.
Atlas’s eyebrows rose, that meant in either one or two level ups of this item, it would enhance his two most powerful skills, with Elemental Affinity being the only possible exception to this. The only problem with this was that he didn’t know how to level it up and it could take a while, at which point his skill levels may have increased.
Atlas pulled up the timer until the next wave.
00:21:56
He only had 20 minutes to prepare? What was this garbage? Just how long had he slept for this to happen to him?
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
23 hours and 34 minutes. The system's response came quickly, scaring him slightly.
Then he processed what the system said. “23 freaking hours!” Atlas repeated, at a loss for words. How had his body even been able to sleep for that long?
He leapt to his feet, grabbing the scythe and running over to the city walls. He quickly reached the walls and donned Avatar of Slow Death before jumping straight up, clearing the wall in a single leap. His stats were simply ridiculous, especially when adding the effects of Avatar of Slow Death to the mix.
At the top, he opened his status sheet and allocated the 54 free stats he had gotten. When he was done, he checked out his stats.

His skills were all B rank or higher, with the majority of them being SS rank. He sat down and started to create spikes of earth coated with debuffs. For the next 10 minutes that was all he did, amassing a large number of spikes with debuffs on them. He didn’t know what debuffs were on them, as they only manifested themself whenever they hit an enemy, but it was enough for now. With just 5 minutes on the clock left, he had over 300 spikes with debuffs on them.
He stopped creating them to preserve his mana, getting ready for the wave to start.
With two minutes left, he got a notification. Curious, he hurriedly opened it.
Guardtowers have sensed a condensing of energy, allowing them to know where the wave is coming from. Enemies coming from: East Wall
Atlas glanced around. He was currently on the west wall, so he activated a misty step 3 times to appear on the opposite wall preparing to face the wave.
Wave start.
Huge forms rose from the ground, giant mana turrets mounted on their backs, with a giant shell supporting them, and powerful legs lifting their bodies up. Each of them stood at a massive 20 feet tall and around twice as wide. Atlas scanned them in disbelief.
Turret Tortoise
Tier 3 Level 150
There were 10 of them advancing towards him, each advancing slowly but powerfully.
Atlas unleashed his barrage, hitting each tortoise with 30 or so spikes. For reference, each spike held 5 debuffs, so each tortoise was inflicted with 150 debuffs each, which was a ridiculous amount, considering there were ten of them.
The turrets mounted on the tortoises started to spin rapidly, charging up mana in preparation to attack. Atlas jumped off of the wall and started to run at the tortoises scythe held out behind him, ready to strike.
He reached the first tortoise before they could unleash their turrets' wrath at him, and he enhanced his strength to the max, slashing into the tortoise in a ridiculous display of power. Or at least, it would have been.
Turret Tortoise receives 1% damage dealt, 99% damage reflected.
Atlas’s health skyrocketed downwards and he gasped in pain as he received a ridiculous amount of damage. The tortoise stood in front of him, seemingly unharmed besides the spikes sticking out of its back.
Atlas used Skill Grandmaster and viewed its skill.
Ultimate Mirror Defence (Z): Everytime you would take melee damage, instead reflect 99% of damage back and take 1% damage. Your Defence rises by 5% on every activation of this skill, further reducing all damage taken. Defence buff resets at midnight.
Atlas gawked in disbelief. This was a cheat level skill! How was he even supposed to do damage to the tortoises like this? Atlas watched for a second more before figuring out how to evade this problem. He simply needed to use ranged attacks. He used Elemental Affinity to create a whirlpool of fire around the tortoise, watching as its health rapidly fell, right before the tortoise was going to die, he used Consuming Light.
Absorbing Skill Exp…
You have leveled up your skill Demonic Energy (S) to level 8!
You have leveled up your skill Demonic Energy (S) to level 9!
Atlas dealt with the tortoise before turning to the rest of them, Elemental Affinity at full blast.
He found himself facing 9 fully charged turrets.
“Crap…”
They started to open fire at him.
