Chapter 36: Perfect Awareness

The lion stared down at Atlas an/d opened its jaws and pounced at him. Atlas did the smartest thing to do when facing a multiple ton lion.

  He teleported away.

The lion spun around and snarled at him, toothy maw opened wide as it charged at Atlas. As the lion approached, Atlas powered up his armor to the maximum possible and fully activated Ultimate Debuff before leaping towards the lion with sword at the ready.

They clashed in midair, the lion's claws colliding with Atlas’s sword in a shower of sparks, sending Atlas flying back but not before he could inflict a multitude of debuffs on the lion. The lion charged forward again as soon as it had regained its footing, teeth once more descending on Atlas.

Because of all the fights against the multiple towers, Atlas’s mana was hovering around rock bottom, slowly but steadily rising. All of his big attacks required a large amount of mana, so he was going to have to hold on for a while before he would be able to retaliate properly. Until then, he had enough mana to inflict a decent amount of damage to the avatar by stacking more and more debuffs onto it.

Atlas and the lion clashed a few more times, each time resulting in the lion gaining debuffs and Atlas being launched away, before Atlas got an interesting message.

You have inflicted the first Rare debuff on an enemy! Title gained: Debuffer (Rare)

Debuffer: Every common or uncommon debuff inflicted on an enemy gives you an additional 0.5% or 1% chance to inflict a rare debuff. This effect resets every time you inflict a rare debuff on anyone.

Short, simple, sweet. Atlas had just gotten a considerable boost to his attack power, he could inflict a ridiculous amount of debuffs on an enemy, but common and uncommon debuffs did a very small amount of damage, meaning that he needed a lot of debuffs to kill an enemy superior to him, this title would allow him to easily gain rare debuffs.

Atlas had only gotten this title because of his armor, which had a very powerful effect.

When at least 4 pieces are in effect, debuffs you inflict have a 20% chance of being a higher tier of debuffs (Common -> Uncommon -> Rare -> Very Rare -> Epic) and so on.

Now every 80 debuffs he was guaranteed to inflict a rare debuff, but he would likely inflict a rare debuff a lot sooner than that.

The debuff that Atlas had inflicted on the lion was one of the best rare debuffs Curse.

The curse debuff made it so that all debuffs effects were double what they normally were, and not only that, but there was now a 5% chance that a debuff could duplicate, creating even more debuffs stacked onto the enemy which did more damage because of the standard effect of curse.

The best thing about the curse debuff though, was that it could be stacked.

Atlas and the lion clashed again, with the lion once again winning the exchange, but something was slightly different this time, Atlas was thrown as far, or hurt as bad, as he usually was. They clashed against each other again, and once more Atlas felt as though he was not being pushed as far back as he should have been.

After a few more exchanges, Atlas inflicted another debuff, this one also being a curse debuff.

Curse debuffs, as mentioned, double the effects of all other debuffs and add a duplicating chance. So now instead of all the debuffs being twice as strong, they were now 6 times stronger than they were originally. This is because the curse debuff affects other curse debuffs. They only worked on curse debuffs once though, as they used to just endlessly scale off of each other which resulted in them being not able to work on each other multiple times, only once, and only on the one that was inflicted first.

The lion staggered, the many debuffs that were stacked onto it suddenly tripling in power.

The lion started to feel afraid as its body was weakened considerably and a multitude of different effects ran rampant throughout its body. Atlas attacked it while it was recovering from their most recent clash, slashing it on the leg and almost completely cutting through its leg, stopping only when it slammed into its bone.

Atlas leaped backwards, only to be replaced with a gout of fire that leapt from the beast's terrible maw. The avatar roared at him and tried to claw at Atlas, only for him to teleport away.

Atlas’s mana was just under half, but he no longer wanted to waste it on the creature, realizing that he was beating this monster very soundly and would need to save his mana for the last tower, seeing as he still didn’t know if he had defeated that tower or not.

As though summoned by his thoughts, another message appeared in front of him.

Urgent Quest: Summoning The Avatar of Sloth

The avatar of sloth?! There is another one of them? Atlas leapt forward, swinging his sword and relieving the avatar of wrath of its head by briefly raising his strength buff to the max before returning it to its passive state. His body crackled with pain, but it was worth it, seeing as he was able to kill the lion before quickly jumping into the sky and creating a platform of air for him to stand on. Where was that other avatar?

He quickly spotted the final tower, and he breathed a sigh of relief. He could definitely destroy it within the time, especially considering the time had been almost doubled. And while it was more than a little odd that the time had increased by so much, Atlas could only shrug it off and carry on. When he arrived at the tower, all of the demons turned as one to face him, only for a bright light to appear in the sky and fall at lightning speed towards them, suffocating them and turning the world white.

Atlas had poured all of his mana into that one attack, and it showed. More than half of the demons were killed in a single attack, with the rest barely hanging on. He reveled in the feel of power that his attack had given him, and then the effect of the skill triggered.

A vast amount of skill experience is coming your way, would you prefer for each kill to affect a skill randomly, or put them all into one massive pool then have it affect one skill randomly? (This question will only be asked once, and every time a similar event to this happens, whatever you choose now will be taken into priority [can also be changed in the skill description])

Atlas chose for one skill to receive all the experience. While it was more of a gamble, it would give him better results, at least in the short run, he might have to change it at a later date, but for now, this choice felt like the best.

  Acknowledged, Absorbing Skill Exp…

  Absorbed into skill [Herbalism(D)]

Atlas’s heart dropped. Really? Of all the skills that could have gotten the massive amount of skill experience? Herbalism?

Atlas was broken out of his musing by a wall of text.

Atlas stood, absolutely flabbergasted, as he found himself staring at a skill that not long ago had been an insignificant skill, one that he hadn’t even used before. Now? He didn’t know what power he had just obtained.

Perfect Awareness (SS): You see, and you understand everything around you. For 1 second for every thousand points of intelligence you possess, you become a being who can understand everything around you with perfect accuracy and ability. This ability can only be used once every 12 hours.

Atlas felt a little worse about the skill. One second? What was he supposed to do in one second? He turned around and got ready to face the tower, when another notification appeared.
