The grand hall stretched miles in every direction as Hollian Yinner, also known by his title “King” sat on his throne and overlooked his many, many subjects who were now slowly exiting from his dismissal. The grand hall did not allow for teleportation and upon his will, also did not allow for skills to be used. So it was with great amusement that he watched many B, and A grade people leave his Halls in such a slow fashion. Especially with the arrogant nobles, no doubt feeling the sting of insult that they would have to leave in such an undignified way.
The reason for this dismissal was twofold. One he just liked to remind the Nobles and those who believed themselves of an important status who was ultimately in charge here. That even with all their scheming and plans, there was only one who stood above the rest.
The second reason was more practical. A subject of his had requested a meeting and while he was not one to capitulate to the whims of his subjects. He knew she would not ask for a meeting without reason and any time she asked for said meeting it was largely due to a matter of great importance and he didn’t want any of the others to hear potentially sensitive information. She was the one who bore the one word title of “Oracle” after all. When she asked for a meeting, something big was bound to happen.
He continued to sit upon his throne in the grand hall. A king did not go to his subjects but rather his subjects would come to him. She knew better than to make him wait so he was not concerned about her showing up tardy.
Instead he softly mused over his castle. It spanned the entire s grade planet, and was his home. There was no other like it. Even The pretenders who bore the titles “emperor” and “overlord” respectively did not have such a magnificent palace as his, even if they did claim otherwise.
He looked around the ground Hall a bit longer before deciding it was about time to renovate it. He needed to make sure style and decorum were constantly updated with the times. And it also gave the nobles something new to badger on about as they desperately try to change their own decor and fashion to fit the new style which was always amusing.
The door to the grand hall which reached up to the sky slowly parted and Hollian watched as a robed woman clothed head to toe stepped forward and walked with grace and purpose as she slowly made her way towards him.
She was in no rush but neither was he so he waited the few simple hours for her to arrive where she promptly bowed down as she reached the base of his throne.
“I bid you greetings, your majesty. I trust you are doing well?” her voice held an air of mysticism to it which suited her greatly
“ I am restless” he rumbled out, his voice echoing through the grand hall like a tidal wave. His wings stretching through the air as if to labor his point. “Yet I predict that you might come with news that can cure such restlessness. Tell me Oracle, what news do you bring that you had such urgency in your message.” he smiled down at her.
She only went by Oracle ever since she got the title, having long since given up her original name. Hollian had almost done the same when he received his title of King. But then he also believed that his own name was not just equal but synonymous to the title King. To abandon one would be insulting to the other.
“That is correct my king. Though I fear that due to the time sensitivity I had to act on my own to ensure victory. I will explain and should you see fit I will accept whatever punishment you deem. However, I believe you will be content, if not pleased with my actions.”
Now that intrigued him. She bore the Noble ranking of Duchess so it was well within her rights to make a move on something she foresaw ahead of time. Yet with the kingdom's stability and well-being, all things must go through him. What intrigued him the most though was that she mentioned time sensitivity. “It is not often the Oracle finds herself rushed. Are you perhaps slipping in your comfort I wonder?”
“Not at all my king. I have been trying for the past few years to understand a vision that kept alluding me. It appeared that the system was directly interfering and only recently was I able to fully glean what the future held.”
The system interfering? Now that only tickled his curiosity more. “Tell me then Oracle, what was so important that the system felt a need to interfere?”
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
“Another bearing of a one word title has come into being.”
Her words sent a fire of excitement through his veins as he clutched the arm rests of his throne tightly. “ Where? We must claim him at once before the Emperor or the Overlord here about this!”
“That was the most interesting thing, my liege. The future showed that the one who would bear the one word title would show up in a freshly integrated planet. No doubt we are looking at a true genius among geniuses for such a thing to occur.”
“Are you aware of what the title will be?” he asked as he leaned forward from his throne.
“I do not, that was obscured from me. But I did learn of his location; however, the planet itself is on the other side of the Multiverse.”
Hollian almost deflated at that. If it was on the other side of the Multiverse then that meant the Emperor and the Overlord were far closer to where this integrated planet would be. “I trust you did not come here just to give me a false sense of hope.”
While her mouth was covered, there was a clear smile in the words she spoke. “That is correct, it is why I acted as I did. When I managed to decipher my vision I quickly sent one of my most loved and trusted descendants to the location of where the planet was supposed to be integrated. Their mission was to infiltrate the planet and form a bond with the one word title holder. It should only be a matter of time for them to bring them back here to us where they can have all the resources and training they could ever want. Their power will grow far more under our tutelage than whatever home planet they live on.”
“And this planet, will it have been integrated into the Empire or the Dominion?” This was perhaps his biggest concern, as both the Dominion and Empire would likely catch a word of a new one named title that entered their territory fairly soon after it happened.
“Fret not my liege. The location was in one of the outer provinces. Somewhere between two inconsequential territories that are no higher than a c grade. My descendants can easily deal with anything either of those two provinces could possibly muster up. And you can rest assured that neither the Emperor or the Overlord haven’t a clue of what is transpiring. I am sure now you understand why I asked for this meeting to be private.”
He certainly understands and sees why. There were several opportunistic people within his courts. Some stupid enough to try and go and contact agents of the Empire or Dominion in order to potentially get resources or credits. The smarter ones would likely try to find a way to intercept or bring the acquainted title bearer to them so they may gain said title bearer's favor or, most likely, have the title bearer owe them favors. The Oracle made the right decision in making sure this meeting was private.
Of course that was also noting the fact that the Oracle made sure to send one of her descendants to fetch them. Cleverly hiding behind the excuse of needing to act quickly in order to get him. He was under no delusion that she was seeking a new puppet for her schemes. He let it slide as one she was highly valuable to the kingdom and two, her schemes never involved him. She knew what the future would look like if she tried to make a move on him. It was this very reason why he knew she would always be loyal unlike the others who seem to think they stood a chance in overthrowing him, whether it was through subterfuge or outright rebellion. But she knew her fate should she try such a thing.
“We will need to ensure both your descendant and this new title Bearer have safe passage back.” He said after a moment “While the Emperor and the Overlord might not know about this person yet. It will only be a matter of time, especially if their borders are closer than ours. We should make haste and prepare a safe Passage.” He finally said after some deliberation.
“I've already made preparations, only need you to go through and finalize.” she responded and Hollian nodded please. It was so nice to have such competent help.
By securing this individual, it might finally tip the balance of power in their favor and break this three-way stalemate at last.
He was going to likely have this individual slowly conquer the outer rim provinces first. Both to build up his power while also increasing the kingdom's strength too. After all, only the most talented of people were ever awarded a one-word title. Even the gap between a two-word and one word was astronomical. So of course he knew this individual would be able to do it.
Once they had secured their outer borders and conquered all of the rebellious provinces. He would finally turn his sights onto the Empire and the Dominion. Using their new found powerhouse and extra resources from the conquered areas to snowball their advantage and finally there will only be one true ruler of the entire Multiverse. He would kill those pretenders personally and take his rightful place as true ruler.
“We haven't a moment to waste.” He declared as he stood up from his throne. “We have much to do and little time to do it in. You will come back here in 3 days when I have summoned my most trusted advisors and generals. We will formulate a detailed plan then. I expect you to fully debrief me on the descendant you have sent to secure this individual at that time, am I understood?”
“ of course my liege.” she bowed to him and quickly left, he even allowed her to use her movement skills. The faster they moved the better.
His gaze turned back to the grand hall. He would have to think of a proper decoration for victory.
