chapter 5 : Parallel Paths: Scattered Endings

After that, the disfigured man finishes telling his story and simply leaves. But before he goes, he says the following:

“Unfortunately, boy, you must understand something important about this world: this world is cursed! The weak are crushed and destroyed, goodness is trampled upon, and justice—true justice—does not exist. It’s nothing but a name, a fa?ade to make you believe there’s a law preserving society, when in truth, it’s all lies. In this world, you either kill or be killed.”

He leaves the house as silence fills the place, and Haru begins to tremble.

After that, before getting into his car, he receives a call from the organization’s leader, Tatsuya Kurogane, who says to him:

“Since my men are busy dealing with the gang clashes, dispersing them across different areas, and handling those Yakuza groups, you and another person will come with me for a simple visit. Understood, Akira?”

Akira understands what he must do and gets into the car to head toward the gang leader’s location.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Souta is shocked by Takashi’s miserable condition and asks the doctor if he will be alright. The doctor tells him that his state is so terrible that they’re surprised he’s even still alive.

While examining his body, they discovered that—aside from his horrific condition—half of his organs, such as his liver and kidneys, had been partially torn out in a brutal manner. The doctor adds that he likely won’t live much longer, maybe a day at most.

Souta falls silent for a moment, then asks, “What’s that device Takashi is breathing through?”

The doctor replies, “Oh, that’s one of the latest medical devices our country imported from America. Even though we bought it for an enormous sum, it’s considered…”

Souta interrupts softly, “When will he be conscious again?”

The doctor answers sadly, “Unfortunately, it seems he won’t live much longer. At best, maybe until tomorrow morning—or a little longer if… well, in any case, he doesn’t have much time left. Probably less than a day.”

Saddened by the news, Souta thanks the doctor for the information and leaves the hospital.

The doctor seemed puzzled by something and said to Sota, “Why did you ask the same question twice? I mean… why did you say, ‘When will he live?’ when I already told you?”

Sota replied sadly, “He just wanted to make sure he heard it right.”

He then left the room. Hours passed after Sota left the hospital.

During that time, Takashi regained consciousness, but he couldn’t see because his eyes had been gouged out. He could only hear the sound of footsteps approaching. The sound grew louder and louder until it stopped right beside him. Then, he heard the voice of the gang leader saying, “So, your name is Takashi, right?”

Takashi began to tremble in terror, completely paralyzed by fear, unable to do anything but listen.

The gang leader spoke arrogantly, “I heard you were in a miserable state before we met. You know, many like you have challenged me, declared war on me, and even tried to kill me. But none of those fools ever dared to insult me or spit in my face. Anyway, that doesn’t matter now, does it?”

He continued, “I also heard from one of my men that you’ve lost everything—your money, your family—and that you have a pathetic adopted son, just like you.”

Then he ordered one of his men to disconnect Takashi’s life support. The gang leader went on, “Honestly, I’m impressed you’re still alive even after we tore half your body apart. Consider it a miracle.”

Moments later, the machine was destroyed. Takashi began to suffocate helplessly.

As the gang leader and his men left, he said, “We’ll take care of your boy as best we can—just like the others. Goodbye, Mr. Takashi.”

Takashi choked until he finally died.

Later, while Sota was driving, he heard a news report about a patient who had suffocated in a nearby hospital due to a sudden malfunction in the life support system. Shocked, Sota immediately turned his car around.

He rushed back to the hospital as heavy rain poured down. He asked the doctors what had happened, but they told him they didn’t know and apologized for the incident.

Sota didn’t believe them. He noticed their nervous expressions and realized something terrible was going on.

He quickly left the hospital and drove home through the intensifying rain. When he arrived at the house where Haru was staying, Haru quietly opened the door and asked, “What happened? Is my father okay?”

Before Sota could explain, he said, “I’ll take care of you, Haru. You’ll stay with me and my family for a while.”

Haru ignored that and asked again, “Where’s my father?”

Silence filled the room. Sota finally said, “Your father… he’s fine. He’ll recover in a few months. Anyway…”

Sota forced a smile and added, “I’ll look after you until your father gets better. Everything will be fine.”

Before he could finish, a bullet pierced Sota’s head right in front of Haru’s eyes.

The shooter appeared—it was Akira. He looked at the shocked boy and said, “Sorry, kid, but my boss doesn’t spare anyone… not even children.”

From behind Akira, the gang leader, Tatsuya Kurogane, stepped forward and said to Haru, “So, you’re that pathetic child. Anyway, your father entrusted you to me. He left your care in my hands.”

With a terrifying gaze, he ordered his men—each holding a metal rod—to restrain Haru. One of them swung the rod down with full force, striking Haru’s head.

Days passed, and Haru was sent by the gang to an old warehouse where children were tortured. Haru felt terrified, but the gang dragged him violently by his hair into the warehouse, pulling him through its prison-like rooms.

The children were treated in the worst possible ways: forced to carry weapon crates, and sent to wars against rival gangs to be used as human shields.

The one in charge of this dreadful warehouse was the gang leader’s son — Katsuro Kurogane. He tortured his subordinates alive, mutilated them, and sent them on suicidal missions. He also enjoyed torturing children, and his favorite victim was Haru.

Haru was subjected to the most brutal forms of torture: whipped until he bled from every part of his body, bitten by rats, hung by his wrists from the ceiling, and sent on the most dangerous missions.

Although Haru survived, he suffered severe injuries each time. He was treated just enough to continue working, and this cycle went on for two years.

One day, while Katsuro was torturing Haru, he received a message from his father, informing him of an important meeting with the Yakuza gangs to discuss uniting territories.

Katsuro grew furious, but he had no choice — it was a direct order from his father. He commanded his men, saying, “Continue torturing this thing until I return. I’ll be gone for a long time. Don’t stop until dinner!”

Haru’s torture continued until dinner. Before leaving the warehouse, they spat on him and humiliated him.

After that, Haru began to cry, blaming himself for everything that had happened.“ "Nothing remains for him… nothing at all… not a single reason to cling to life."

He closed his eyes, wishing for eternal rest.

At that moment, from above, a strange creature appeared — a giant worm-like being about a meter long, glowing white, with extended limbs across its body and one huge eye Middle of the forehead colored white and black together. The skin of its face is tearing, and it shakes its eye violently."

The strange creature noticed the miserable child hanging from chains on the ceiling. The parasite entered Haru’s body through his neck.

Haru screamed in agony as pain surged through him. His body tried to reject the parasite, but it was useless. The creature slipped inside effortlessly and fused with him.

After that, the gang members arrived to continue torturing Haru, but they noticed something strange — the boy was almost gone!

One of the higher-ranking members ordered the others to find the child, warning that they would all be executed by their boss if they failed. But before he could finish speaking, they noticed one of their men had vanished — his head now hung from one of the chains on the ceiling.

Panic spread quickly. They grabbed their weapons, trembling, waiting for anything to move in front of them. Suddenly, one member’s body exploded, another’s head burst apart — they were being hunted down in the most gruesome ways, one after another.

One terrified gang member fell to the ground, unable to comprehend what was happening. From the shadows, Haru emerged, holding the severed head of one of their comrades.

The man begged for mercy. Haru spoke calmly, “Where is your boss?”

The man stammered that their leader, Katsuro, had gone to a meeting to make a deal with the Yakuza…

Before he could finish, Haru tore off the man’s arm and said coldly that he already knew that — then asked, “Where is the meeting?”

The man told him the location, and the moment he did, Haru snapped his neck.

Haru then set off toward the gang leader’s son.

Meanwhile, Katsuro was singing loudly beside his subordinates — who could barely stand his awful voice. His driver asked nervously if he planned to do anything reckless during the meeting. Katsuro scoffed, “Who do you think I am, idiot? I’m not stupid enough to disobey one of my dear father’s orders!”

The driver was puzzled, doubting that this was the same man who once killed one of his own aides for no reason, silently calling him a psychopath.

Katsuro continued, “Anyway, if anything happens, I’ve got my men behind me, the latest weapons, and thousands of armored cars. Don’t worry! I used to be my father’s disgrace — the weakest among my brothers. Remember what I did? I killed them all. My eldest brother died in a ‘planned accident,’ another had a bomb shoved into his mouth. And you know what happened? My father was proud of me. He promised me his position when he dies. I became his only son. So why are you scared? It’s just a simple meeting! We’ll attend, finalize the deals, secure the territories, and go home. That’s all!”

Before he could finish, an explosion echoed behind them. Katsuro turned to see the cars behind him erupting one after another in rapid succession.

Terrified, he shouted to the driver, “What’s happening?!” But before he could get an answer, Haru appeared in front of them, charging at an inhuman speed — the impact sent the car flipping over.

When Katsuro regained consciousness, his arm was broken, and blood poured from the back of his head. He staggered out of the wreck, surrounded by flames and countless corpses.

Through the fire, Haru emerged — his eyes blazing red with fury. Katsuro screamed and grabbed a nearby weapon, unloading bullets into Haru, but they had no effect. The bullets were useless — meaningless.

Haru stepped forward and violently tore off Katsuro’s arm. Katsuro cursed and screamed in agony. Haru grabbed a fuel barrel, poured it over him, and lit a lighter.

Katsuro’s voice trembled, “W–what are you doing?!”

Haru glared at him, his voice filled with rage. “The same thing you did to those people… to those children! Filth like you doesn’t deserve to live in this world!”

He threw the lighter. Flames engulfed Katsuro’s body. He screamed for help, but no one came — no one heard, no one answered, no one survived.

Haru looked down at the burning corpse, then raised his eyes to the sky and muttered, “Every vile soul in this damned world… no matter who they are — criminals, thieves, gangs — wherever they hide, I’ll erase them all… one by one.”

At that time, Tatsuya Kurogane was sitting in an abandoned warehouse in Britain, in front of one of the British Mafia leaders. The leader tells him happily: "Thanks to you, Mr. Kurogane, we managed not only to destroy most of our competitors and collect the shops' debts

but we also managed to control most areas in Britain. How can I repay you, Mr. Kurogane?" Kurogane tells him calmly : "Despite the victories we achieved, I have already lost a lot during that operation. My factories were burned, and my business interests were greatly damaged in Britain, not to mention the damages that occurred in Japan during an extremely violent clash between my followers and the Yakuza, which led to the death of thousands of my men and the loss of a great deal of money, to the extent that I was forced to send my second son to arrange a truce, at least temporarily. Therefore, I will make the profit distribution fair. The deal is as follows: 75% for me and 25% for you. What do you think?

The Mafia gang leader is surprised by the strange deal and gets angry at Tatsuya Kurogane. He looks at him seriously and says: "As grateful as I am to you for helping us control the neighboring areas in Britain, I will not accept this kind of joke, Mr. Kurogane. We also lost a lot, as you know, and we also deserve a fair deal!

Kurogane starts laughing and says: "Of course, of course, like pointing your snipers at my head to assassinate me, right?" The Mafia leader is shocked and says: "Huh? What are you talking about?" Tatsuya Kurogane starts laughing sarcastically and says: "My friend, I have known about this matter for a long time from my spies whom I planted on you! Your plan was to surround my men after killing me and take over all my possessions in Britain and Japan! That's why I placed hidden spies and men among you. The moment you think about setting a trap for me, I will start and kill you all before you even order your snipers to kill me. Do you think I'm that easy, you pathetic wretch?

The Mafia leader begins to feel terror and fear, realizing from Kurogane's face that he is not lying at all! The Mafia leader sighs and orders all the snipers to stop sniping and withdraw. Kurogane tells him calmly: "You had a very simple choice. You could have reduced your greed and stupidity in trying to kill me, and the deal would have gone well, half for each of us. But after that stupid plan you devised to assassinate me, 5% for you and 95% for me!" The Mafia leader starts getting angry and shouts: "95%!? You son of a_"

Before he can finish his words, Tatsuya Kurogane pulls out his weapon in front of him and says: "Honestly, you are dumber than I expected. You should have anticipated what I meant when I said I planted spies, while you thought I entered the warehouse unarmed...... You know what? I haven't cared about people's lives or their suffering for a long time. Simply put, I can cause a massacre in this country and no one will hold me accountable. I can kill and steal whenever I want

But before he could finish his words, one of Kurogane's men enters the warehouse, terrified. The man tells him in fear: "Sir! All your factories, weapons, and documents have been destroyed! The world newspapers say that millions of criminals have been cut into pieces in less than an hour!!"

Kurogane angrily tells him to calm down and explain what is happening quietly, but before he can finish his words, the sound of an earthquake is heard from afar. Everyone starts drawing their weapons and heading toward the source of the sound, only to find thousands of torn-apart corpses and flames devouring the warehouse. Before everyone can comprehend what is happening, from amidst the flames arrives a child with many scars, his body covered in the blood of criminals, carrying one of the heads of Kurogane's loyal followers. Everyone begins to tremble, unable to comprehend what is happening here. One of the Mafia men angrily tells them: "What are you doing, you fools?! Open fi—" And before he can finish his words, his body is exploded by a punch from Haru, along with thousands of armed men.

A massacre begins throughout the warehouses, bodies explode, blood everywhere, the sounds of skulls are heard from afar as they crack. Meanwhile, a group of Kurogane's special followers begin watching as they see millions of Mafia men and Kurogane's men being torn to pieces. Akira sees what is happening and tells them : "It seems my time has come. I never imagined I would see something like this before I die Welp… that's what we deserve." One of Kurogane's men starts screaming that they must run away, but before he can finish his words, Akira pulls the trigger on his neck. The man is bewildered and says: "What are you doing?" Akira replies coldly: "Killing myself before I get tortured."

And he commits suicide in front of Kurogane's men, and before they can comprehend what happened, they are blown up, along with the building above them, by Haru. After this, the flames begin to subside. Haru starts walking slowly toward the warehouse. He is interrupted by the Mafia leader, who points a machine gun at Haru while screaming for death, but Haru grabs a giant building and throws it at the Mafia gang leader. Haru storms into the warehouse and sees Tatsuya Kurogane sitting motionless on a chair before him. Kurogane says: "So, what a turn of events. I never expected this in my life, isn't that right, boy?" Haru is silent for a moment and replies coldly: "You filthy criminal! You and your insane men, you kill people without reckoning, you steal as you please, you torture and burn people—children and even the elderly! Why do you do all this evil?!" Tatsuya Kurogane falls silent and replies: "For fun, nothing more.

  Haru: "..... (shocked face) What?"

Tatsuya Kurogane: "Should I repeat myself? No. I have always loved torture. When I was young, I used to steal food to survive. I was taken and made to work in factories and was mistreated daily. Then one day, someone gave me an apple and told me to go with him. I joined countless gangs. I became skilled at killing and stealing. I killed loyal men. I joined gang members and became skilled at betraying and killing them. I killed everyone I knew. I took everything possible. I subjugated entire countries under my command. I burned offices for fun. I killed families who didn't pay me ransom. In the end, what is the point in this world? Why do we even live? Why are there laws? Why do we exist? The answer is: nothing.

We are nothing, just creatures walking on two feet." Haru is bewildered by the man's absurd words and says: "You killed innocent people, you looted and stole from people for no reason, you killed children, women, and even the elderly before my eyes, and you became skilled at torturing us and using us as human shields for your filthy, vile goals. All of this was to prove that everything is meaningless...... You... you are vile devils!!!" Tatsuya Kurogane smiles maliciously and says: "Devils? I like the description!" Kurogane begins laughing uncontrollably. Haru begins to feel a disgust and anger he has never felt in his life. He starts to angrily cut down Tatsuya Kurogane, but the criminal keeps laughing over and over until his breath runs out.
