Norville couldn’t believe that he was going to be Marshall’s personal assistant – that was just a modern way of saying servant. He couldn’t believe he had no choice as he signed the contract.
“Very good, you will receive about the same pay as your current job did, and you’ll start first thing next week” said Marshall.
Marshall wasn’t finished with Norville just yet – he led him out of his office and had an announcement for everyone. The animals all gazed up at their cubic office chambers. They could see it was important.
“I know I said I would fire anyone who was always tardy, but instead I have decided to make anyone of you my personal assistant” said Marshall, “Norville here will be a trial run for anyone who dares comes in late without proper excuses.”
A trial run thought Norville, that means he could be fired at any time! He swallowed looking at Marshall. He couldn’t speak or say anything negative.
“I hope this all teaches you a valuable lesson to always be on time to work” continued Marshall.
Norville was allowed to continue to work the rest of the week during his usual chores around the office. As the following week approached – he received a text message from Marshall on where to meet with him. Norville knew this wasn’t a good thing at all for him. The address was located in the suburbs of Critterpolis, Norville had to take a trolley there. Much like before he fought his way through the crowded trolley that was filled with other animals. He didn’t know what awaited him at Marshall’s address.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
“Here goes nothing” thought Norville.
Norville was going to be the example that Marshall would show to employees who were always late – Norville was going to become Marshall’s personal punching bag. There was no way around this for the bat. Once Norville arrived at his stop, he got off the trolley and headed towards Marshall’s house. He was surprised Marshall lived in a house and not in a large mansion.
“Here goes nothing” sighed Norville.
Norville rang the doorbell, and Marshall slowly answered the door.
“Welcome to your first day for the rest of your life” laughed Marshall.
Marshall showed Norville inside – he couldn’t believe that Marshall’s home was quite charming for someone who was a CEO.
“I have a list of chores for you to do around the house” said Marshall.
Marshall had a laundry list of chores, Norville couldn’t believe the various chores which were much more than being in the office. Maybe he should have came on time instead of being always late.
“I expect you to finish most of them at least until the afternoon” continued Marshall, “do be careful around my prized roses while you do my gardening chores in the backyard.”
Norville swallowed as he was shown the backyard – he could see the various prized roses – but one blue rose stood out among them all.
“This is my most precious rose” said Marshall, “I do hope you take good care of it.”
Marshall then headed inside to rest and relax before heading off to the office. As for Norville his misadventures were just beginning. Those would have to be told another time – the end for now.
