Chapter Thirty-Four: Change of Heart
Han Zhi Xin and Wang Zhi were polite for a while, handed over some things to Zhang Qiao, and also bid farewell. After all, after such a long time of tossing and turning, the time was already late, and it was already early morning. Zhang Qiao received Han Zhi Xin's entrustment and was very polite to Wang Zhi and others. According to Wang Zhi's prescription, someone quickly decocted the medicine and sent it over. Wang Jing Yi drank the medicine and slowly fell asleep.
Now that Jingyi is going to stay in Nanrao, it's meaningless for Lin Xueyan to call the car, and the big truck on its way will naturally not come. The one or two cars that have already arrived, Wang Zhi intended to let Lin Xueyan and her sister go back, but they were determined to stay behind. Wang Zhi had no choice but to let his father, Wang Tianyuan, return home and explain the situation to their family, so as not to worry their mother.
As for Wang Zhi staying here, Wang Tianyuan was also at ease and left after entrusting him with some tasks.
With Wang Tianyuan's departure, the hospital room was left with only three people: Wang Zhi, Lin Xueyan, and Xu Xiaoran. At this time, although both women were a bit sleepy, Wang Zhi had intended to go out and arrange for a hotel, but neither of them was willing to leave, so they all stayed in the hospital room to accompany Wang Jingyi.
Seeing the two women's very tired faces, Wang Zhi was deeply moved. Disregarding his own exhaustion from just treating Jingyi, he secretly transmitted a thread of internal energy into the two women again, letting them quietly fall asleep on the bed. Meanwhile, Wang Zhi himself sat in a chair, facing the bright moonlight outside the window, and began to meditate.
The next day, Jingyi's condition was significantly better, and even the fatigue on her face had disappeared. She looked radiant and energetic. However, Wang Zhi still didn't let Jingyi get out of bed, but instead gave her another acupuncture treatment, made her take medicine, and told her to rest well. Heart disease is like that - once it gets better, it looks like there's nothing wrong with the person, but when it relapses, it can be fatal. Before Jingyi fully recovered from her illness, Wang Zhi didn't want her to exert herself too much.
Lin Xueyan and her two sisters rested for a night with the help of Wang Zhinai, although they slept on their stomachs, but they were in high spirits. The whole day was spent teasing Wang Jingyi, who was naturally very happy to have two beautiful elder sisters taking care of her, she was proud beyond measure.
The next afternoon, Wang Tianyuan and Jiang Yun also came. Seeing Jingyi's recovery was so good, the worry in their hearts was completely put down. Wang Tianyuan was even more proud of his son's medical skills, with deep joy between his eyebrows. Now that his daughter is expected to recover, his son is doing so well, what could be more delightful for a father?
In this way, Wang Zhi had been staying in Nan for three days. During these three days, Lin Xueyan and Xu Xiaoran accompanied Wang Zhi to take care of Wang Jingyi, which made Wang Zhi feel much more at ease. However, at night, Wang Zhi couldn't let them sleep in the hospital room anymore, so he found a nice hotel nearby for the two to rest.
This morning, Wang Zhi had just finished acupuncture for Wang Jingyi when he received a call from Zhou Boyan. Zhou Boyan naturally thought that Wang Zhi was already at the venue in Nanrao, but not seeing him anywhere, he hurriedly called Wang Zhi.
Wang Zhi suddenly remembered that he still had to attend the exchange meeting, so he hastily gave Ernu a shout and rushed off. To know that according to Zhou Boyan's time, the exchange meeting was about to begin.
This time's exchange meeting venue is set at Longwang Grand Theater in Nanrao, and the organizer has booked a performance hall for the event.
When Wang Zhi arrived, the meeting had already started for over ten minutes. Due to his haste, he didn't bring the certificate issued by the government and was stopped at the entrance by the security guard in a very impolite manner. He had no choice but to ask Zhou Boran to come out and pick him up.
Wang Zhi waited at the door for about two minutes before Zhou Boran led a middle-aged man in his 40s out. The man's name was He Yang, who was also one of Wang Zhi's medical consultants on this trip to Jianghuai City. Upon seeing Wang Zhi, He Yang warmly shook hands with him and handed over the certificate to Wang Zhi. Then the three of them walked in together.
All the way, He Yang was very concerned about Wang Zhi. When he came, he had heard a lot of rumors about Wang Zhi and was curious about this young man who was both young and skilled in medicine.
Wang Zhi walked into the venue and saw that there were indeed many doctors attending the exchange meeting. The auditorium, which could hold 500 people, was almost half full, with at least 300-400 people in attendance.
Wang Zhi originally wanted to find a place to sit down below, but was informed by Zhou Boyan that his seat was on the main stage, and he was quite surprised in his heart. No wonder Zhou Boyan asked him to find Lin Qiwai, it turned out there were benefits to this too.
As Zhou Boran and He Yang arrived at the main stage, there were only about 50 or 60 seats available. The front row was mostly occupied by elderly well-known professors, while the back rows were filled with representatives from various cities. Wang Zhi knew that Jiangnan Province had 18 municipalities directly under its administration, and the representatives alone took up half of the seats, indicating that the government attached great importance to this exchange meeting.
Wang Zhi and He Yang sat down in the back seats, while Zhou Boran was sitting in the front. Wang Zhi took a rough glance around and saw that Jiang Yuanhua had also arrived, along with Han Zhixin, the director of the affiliated Third Hospital, whom he had met that day. At this time, Han Zhixin also noticed Wang Zhi's arrival and smiled, nodding his head slightly.
At this time, the exchange meeting has already begun. Everyone is quiet and a sixty-year-old professor is speaking on stage about diabetes issues. The doctors below are all listening with relish. Some people were amazed when they saw a young man in his twenties suddenly appear on stage, but fortunately, Wang Zhi quickly sat down at the back, so as not to attract too much attention.
"This is Professor Yuan Huqian, a well-known diabetes expert in Jiangnan, proficient in both Chinese and Western medicine, very accomplished. Listen carefully and you may gain something." He Yang quietly introduced to Wang Zhi on the side.
Wang Zhi nodded seriously, indicating that he understood. At this time, Professor Yuan was explaining some new advances in the treatment of diabetes in Western medicine. Although Wang Zhi didn't quite understand, he also remembered them firmly, so that he could go back and ponder over them carefully.
Yuan Heqian finished his explanation and also asked the doctors below if they had any confusion, then answered one by one, making many doctors benefit greatly. Wang Zhi on the side was also listening with great interest. Such an exchange meeting is indeed rare and precious for doctors, no wonder so many doctors want to come and participate.
After Yuan Heqian finished speaking, a 60-year-old professor named Lin Shengtang came down. He is a well-known old Chinese medicine expert in Jiangnan and one of the few remaining traditional Chinese medicine experts in today's society.
Lin Sheng Tang mainly talked about the understanding and efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine in treating cancer, which is exactly what Wang Zhi is most concerned about, so he listened with extra attention.
Cancer is a kind of malignant disease that occurs in the five internal organs and six hollow organs, limbs and bones. It is often caused by factors such as deficiency of vital energy, invasion of pathogenic toxins, stagnation of emotions, damage from diet, and lingering old diseases, which lead to dysfunction of the internal organs, abnormal circulation of qi and blood, and production of pathological changes such as qi stagnation, blood stasis, phlegm coagulation, dampness, and heat toxin. These changes accumulate in the tissues of the internal organs, interact with each other, and gradually develop into a kind of malignant disease over time.
The pathogenesis of cancer is not yet fully understood, but based on the onset and clinical manifestations of cancer, its occurrence is closely related to external six evils, internal seven emotions, stagnation, dietary disorders, chronic diseases or long-term damage to the body, and aging. The six evils invade the body through industrial waste gas, asbestos, coal smoke, radioactive substances, etc., and if the body's resistance is not strong enough, the evil spirits will linger, causing the organs, qi, blood, yin, and yang to lose balance, leading to symptoms such as qi stagnation, blood stasis, phlegm, and heat toxin. If these conditions persist for a long time, they can form lumps, which is cancer.
Cancer is a difficult-to-cure disease, and it has been recognized that cancer is a local manifestation of systemic diseases. Any single method of local treatment cannot thoroughly cure the disease. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treats cancer with the guidance of "supporting the righteous and eliminating the evil". The combination of TCM and Western medicine can make up for each other's shortcomings, fully exerting the role of various treatments at different stages of cancer, which can improve efficacy or reduce toxicity and enhance effectiveness.
Lin Sheng Tang's explanation was very detailed, starting from the understanding of cancer and its causes in traditional Chinese medicine, to the current research on some effective medicines and special therapies for cancer treatment in traditional Chinese medicine, including acupuncture, massage, and medication. Wang Zhi listened with great interest, although his achievements in traditional Chinese medicine were not inferior to Lin Sheng Tang's, but after all, there were fewer cancer patients in ancient times, and the cases he had seen were limited, so his research and understanding of this aspect could not be compared with those of Lin Sheng Tang, an old Chinese doctor.
In Lin Sheng Tang's explanation, Wang Zhi heard that Lin Sheng Tang was not optimistic about the simple Chinese medicine treatment of cancer, nor did he look good at the simple Western medicine treatment of cancer. He emphasized the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine for treatment, which also made Wang Zhi's thinking undergo some gradual changes.
All along, due to Wang Zhi's infatuation with traditional Chinese medicine and pride in his own achievements in the field, he has not been optimistic about the integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. He has always wanted to break through the limitations of using only traditional Chinese medicine to treat modern diseases such as cancer and leukemia. This way of thinking is actually narrow-minded and one-sided. One should know that both traditional Chinese and Western medicine have their own strengths, and only by absorbing the advantages of each and combining them can we achieve the best results.
It was also from this moment on that Wang Zhi's stubborn idea in his heart slowly changed, and he eventually took a path of treatment with traditional Chinese medicine as the mainstay and Western medicine as the auxiliary. He made significant contributions to the medical community and established his own medical status in the fields of cancer, leukemia, AIDS, and other global medical problems. It can be said that Wang Zhi's future achievements have an inseparable relationship with Lin Shengtang's explanation today. People often say that details determine fate, and chance determines success. This statement is indeed correct. Perhaps even Lin Shengtang himself did not know that his informal explanation would point out a broader road for the ancestor of the medical community in the future.
PS: Summon collection, recommendation, reward, recently no one has rewarded Chinese medicine, haha, if you're happy to read the book, it's convenient to reward a little, let Xiaoxiao find some confidence back, haha.
