  Concrete debris rained down on my body as I hit the ground. The Monster tore past me and slammed into the wall across from where I was prone on the ground. I quickly stood back up and took off again. I heard the snort of air rush out of the giant creatures nostrils and heard the thunder of his hooves as he rushed at me again. I sprinted as fast as I could to the end of the corridor. I felt his speed picking up and his acceleration shortening the distance between us. I was getting close to the next branching point.

  I dove around the left corner as soon as I hit it, His arm just missed grabbing my jacket and he once again rammed head first into the wall. I noticed as I was getting up that once his initial haze from hitting the wall cleared he looked to the right then spun to the left to face me. He had done that a few times but other times he would look right at me. which at the moment he was once again staring at me and heading towards me. I once again turned and run as his Metadata popped up while I was turning.

  Manny, The Minotaur. He hates anyone who enters his Labyrinth without his permission. YOUR IN HIS LABYRINTH WITHOUT HIS PERMISSION. HE HATES YOU! banished into the labyrinth long ago when he was born with the upper body of a Minotaur Manny has been prowling these corridors ever since. He will destroy anyone who enters and feed on them. It’s kinda gross, don’t be his next meal.

  This Minotaur dude has been chasing me for the past hour, ever since me and Marco was separated after we entered this damn maze. He apparently had no idea which hallway he had come down when he escaped his village and chose wrong when we asked him. Now I had no idea where he went and I’m being hunted down by a raging bull man. I dove around another corner. Manny once again went head first into the wall before turning right towards me.

  That had to mean something, but what? Then it hit me. He’s looking towards the exit first. He thinks I’m trying to escape, I mean I am but he thinks I know the way so he keeps checking it for me first. He also keeps hitting the walls full force before looking my way. I might be able to do something with this. Better than my first plan with this guy. That had been a bad idea.

  When we first realized we were stuck in a maze me and Marco started to get worried.

  “Marco, where are we?” I asked the small Incubus.

  “Ummm, I don’t really know. I’m lost, very lost actually I don’t think this was the right passage to take.” He said sheepishly.

  “TAI are you able to help us out?”

  “Sorry, Voyager but I can’t do much to help you out here. I’m not google maps. I can however, let you know you’re inside a labyrinth.” TAI was being very matter of fact and unhelpful lately.

  “Very helpful, labyrinth like a Maze? we are stuck inside a maze?”

  “That is correct Voyager, A large one at that.” The tiny sprite continued her emotionless answering.

  As she finished being extremely unhelpful, Manny the Minotaur came around a corner and walked down another passage having not seen us yet. I motioned to Marco to follow the guy and we took off after him. We had hit a intersection and I called after the large bull man.

  “Hey, Minotaur guy can you help us out of here? Were very lost.”

  He turned around, eyes widen with alarm. He had the full face of a bull, with a classic ring through his bull nose and everything. He looked at us and his face shifted to aggressive rage and I swear to fucking christ he snorted legitimate steam from his nostrils and started to charge. I had only seconds to react, I figured since I was the Voyager I would be the real target. I pushed Marco down the corridor opposite the one I was about to run down.

  “Run, I’ll take his Agro and you find us a way out of here. I’ll see what I can do to get rid of him. GO!” I yelled at Marco as I began to backpedal down the path, hoping to lure the beast towards me. When he slammed into the wall he turned towards Marco for a second but I threw a rock at his head and he turned my direction. I flipped him the bird and the chase was on.

  over an hour of running from this monster and I was starting to develop a plan. Which I was going to need because my Stamina bar was blinking down to the last dregs and I wasn’t going to last much longer. I took off towards the end of the corridor again and tried to dive in the wrong direction to give me some extra time to take off.

  It worked. he hit the wall again, wavered for a second then turned away from me. I ran as fast as I possibly could, pushing for a breakneck speed and making some extra distance between us. When I started getting close to the next branch I pulled my old weapon, the lead pipe that I tore from the wall my first few minutes in the Trials. I held it firm in my Right hand, about half way up the pipe. As I approached the wall I stabbed the bottom of the pipe about head height for the Minotaur into the wall facing out. It sunk in almost three inches and then stuck. I once again dove to the side as I felt the rumbling of Hoof beats thundering behind me. He once again lowered his head to ram the wall. This time there was something occupying the space he planned to be in.

  It was a perfect placement. I looked back as the pipe that I embedded into the wall was perfectly placed level with the Minotaurs Eye socket. He never had a chance. I don’t know if he physically couldn’t stop and saw the pipe coming or if he just didn’t care. I watched the Pipe disappear into the large skull of the Minotaur with almost no effort. Then right before the beast fully hit the wall as he had been doing every branch prior, the pipe exploded out of the back of his skull, brain matter and what I assume was eviscerated eye chunks, clung to the pipe and slowly leaked down the monsters furry back and to the floor. Manny, slumped and his body hung limply on the pipe for a moment before he slid off the back and crumpled to the floor.

  “That was gross, sorry many I had to do it buddy. It was you or me, and I kinda like me better. No offense.” I was talking the nerves away. I couldn’t believe I survived that.

  Level up.

  I hit level ten with that and I just pushed another point into Physical. bringing it up to 12. I stepped forward and went to loot Manny. Before I touched him though I saw some more notifications on my HUD.

  NEW ACHIEVEMENT! You defeated a structure boss. you walked into the home of a powerful boss monster and decided you owned it now instead. You would have gotten this achievement earlier but you have to actually kill the boss to get it. sooooooo….. You get a It’s a Me Mario BOX.

  NEW ACHIEVEMENT! That was gross and sneaky. You used a monsters own ability against them to win. Sneaky sneaky little voyager you are. You get a Why are you hitting yourself Box.

  NEW ABILITY! yea I yell about these also. You hit level Ten. the system now has faith that you won’t die like an idiot anymore, which means you can do more cool stuff. ask your helper sprite about these things, I don’t feel like telling you myself it’s boring.

  I just stared blankly at the messages for a second. Another two loot boxes. Also I had new abilities but the A.I was too lazy to tell me themselves? what was this game. I looked down at Manny’s corpse still in front of me and continued to loot him.

  I got about 100 gold, a few pelts of Uncommon rarity and an Item I was pretty stoked about.

  Furry pants of the Minotaur. and what I mean is, the pants are covered in fur, not that the person wearing them would be considered a furry. Unless you want to be a furry, no kink shaming in my Trials. Anyway these pants are lined inside and out with fur, its soft, its smooth and it looks cool. It also makes you stronger and faster. When worn these pants increase your strength by 25%! and your speed by another 10%. Also your stamina drains 20% slower. meaning you can run away farther and faster but also can stand your ground if need be. These are an Uncommon rarity item.

  The pants themselves made me look kinda like a mix between MC Hammer’s parachute pants and a satire from mythology. They were really comfortable though and I instantly felt less fatigued after equipping them.

  Manny had one last item in his inventory, a Map.
