CHAPTER 5: FIGHT FOR THE AGES

The clash didn’t shake the world—it rewrote how the world understood fear. The sky above fractured into spirals of warped light as Rezok’s full presence poured into reality, dragging the underworld with him like a shadow that refused to let go. Every step he took crushed stone into powder, every breath he exhaled carried the weight of a thousand endings. Danny felt it pressing down on his chest, heavy and personal, like the universe itself was daring him to fold. Shawny stood firm beside him, fists glowing faintly with power she didn’t bother to name. Big B’s systems screamed warnings that made no sense, numbers rolling into impossibility. Fang hovered overhead, wings slicing the air, eyes locked on Rezok with a mix of fury and anticipation. Zane stood further back, tense, knowing exactly what they were facing—and exactly how bad it could get.

Rezok didn’t rush them. He observed. His massive form shifted between solid and spectral, as if reality itself struggled to decide whether he belonged here. “You stand against an ending that cannot be erased,” Rezok said, his voice layered, echoing across timelines. “I am not death. I am the certainty of it.” Danny stepped forward despite the instinct screaming at him to stop. “Funny,” he said, forcing a grin he didn’t fully feel. “You don’t look very certain right now.” Rezok answered with violence. A wave of black energy tore forward, annihilating the ground between them. Fang dove first, slashing through the blast, diverting part of it skyward. Shawny pulled Danny back as the earth collapsed beneath their feet. Big B fired controlled bursts to destabilize Rezok’s form, while Zane erected ancient barriers that cracked but held—barely. The battle ignited all at once, chaotic and relentless.

Rezok adapted instantly. He split into fractured echoes of himself, each one representing a different possible ending, attacking from multiple directions at once. Danny’s head filled with flashes—friends dying, cities falling, timelines collapsing. He staggered. Shawny grabbed his arm. “Danny,” she snapped. “Stay with me.” He breathed, grounding himself. The clock-symbol flared into existence, unstable but present. He didn’t try to control time—he listened to it. The chaos slowed, just enough. Danny shouted warnings, guiding movements. Fang exploited openings with brutal dives. Big B synced his tech with Danny’s timing, striking when Rezok lagged between moments. Zane sealed entire spatial tears, cutting off Rezok’s ability to phase freely. For the first time, Rezok reacted instead of dictated.

Enraged, Rezok merged his fractured forms back into one colossal entity, towering higher than before. The battlefield began collapsing into voids, reality tearing itself apart under the strain. Shawny nearly fell into nothingness—Danny caught her hand, pulling her back with a grunt. Fang slammed into Rezok’s chest at full speed, detonating energy across his torso. Big B unleashed a weapon he swore he’d never activate again, ripping through Rezok’s outer shell. Zane poured his power into one massive binding seal, ancient symbols burning into the air. Rezok roared, the sound bending the sky. “YOU CANNOT END ME!” Danny stepped forward, battered, exhausted, but unshaken. “No,” he said quietly. “But I can stop you.”

The final exchange felt like history holding its breath. Danny raised his hand, the clock forming clearer than ever—circles locking into place, numbers steady. Time didn’t freeze. It aligned. Rezok lunged, but his movement dragged, delayed by a universe that suddenly refused to cooperate. Shawny and Fang struck together, driving everything they had into Rezok’s core. Big B amplified the attack beyond safe limits. Zane completed the seal with a final word that echoed across existence. Rezok screamed—not in pain, but in fury. His form began collapsing inward, unstable, unraveling. For a moment, it looked like this was it.

But gods don’t die so easily.

Rezok tore himself free with sheer will, ripping through the binding at the cost of his own form. His body fractured violently, pieces of him burning away into shadow. A portal ripped open behind him, raw and unstable. “This world has chosen delay,” Rezok snarled, his voice fading. “But every clock runs out.” With one final glare at Danny—burning with promise—Rezok vanished into the void, the portal snapping shut behind him. The battlefield went silent.

They stood there, breathing hard, surrounded by ruin. The sky slowly healed. The ground stabilized. Zane collapsed to one knee, weak but alive. Fang landed heavily, wings trembling. Big B shut down his systems, staring at the empty space Rezok had escaped through. Shawny leaned against Danny, laughing weakly because they were still standing. Danny looked at the sky, jaw tight. “He got away,” he said. Zane nodded grimly. “Yes,” he replied. “But for the first time… he ran.”

Far beyond their sight, Rezok drifted through fractured space, wounded and furious—but alive. The battle for the ages hadn’t ended. It had only begun. And Danny? Danny had just proven himself worthy of being hunted by a god.
