“I’m up next.”
“Luck, to you then.”
Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, he touches the pillar. Dylan finds no clues in the safe room. As he steps from the room, he is knocked to the ground from behind. When he attempts to regain his feet, the chains around his wrists and ankles prevent full movement. ‘Chains what the hells?’
“Get up slave, lazy good for nothing half bloods. Eating my food, breathing my air. Meet your quota today or you won’t be doing either.” A kick to his ribs energizes him to move.
Now on his feet, Dylan looks around, finding himself in a mine tunnel. Chains bind his hands and feet. He has just enough movement to hunch over and awkwardly swing a pickaxe. An older dwarf is chained to his right side. To his horror, his mother is chained to his right. The overseer slaps the back of Dylan’s head, causing him to stumble again. This time he keeps his feet.
“Now get to work or no rations today.” The mine boss stumps off back up the tunnel. Several minutes go by before the old dwarf pounding on the tunnel wall stops. He tosses his pick down and scoffs, “Well get to work, boy you better make our ore assignment or your mother will pay, get working. The dwarf grabs Kselia dragging her farther away. Come on slut, you know you want it, just like always.”
Dylan slams the pickaxe into the man’s back. As he falls to the floor, Dylan swings the pick around, up then down through the rapist’s head. “Dylan you should not have done that they will kill you now. Slaves are valuable.”

“Ma I am taking you out of here, come hell or high water. This will not stand.” Dylan casts Earth Manipulation, and her chains fall away. He then casts the same spell, and his chains drop to the ground. A system announcement shows in his vision.
caps here……Quest accepted: Escort your mother from this heinous imprisonment. 1 of 100 foes killed. Bonus for every 10 kills over 100. You have all day, take your time. TIMER: 24:00:00
‘Straight forward at least.’ He thinks to himself. “Ma, stay behind me, keep watch on our back trail.” After looting all the ore in the area, Dylan walks down the tunnel in the direction the overseer went.
“Dylando are you sure about this? The empire should be here soon. They will free us.”
“We are walking out of here today, now.”
“If this is your course do not trust anyone.”
“If you say so Ma.”
Dylan walks up to several miners chained like he was. One miner shakes his head. “You go no further boy. That’s the first woman those bastards have sent to us in months, you aren’t taking her.”
Dylan cast Fire Bolts on the miners from his left hand. Then casts Ice Bolts from his right hand, in rapid fire. Then he casts a wind spell to remove the stench of burned flesh and hair. Dylan draws his staff from storage, and with a steady, calm pace, walks to each opponent, smashing their heads in with his staff to make sure. The timer ticks down and the kill count rises. Dylan combs the passageways for new foes to slay. After killing all the hostile miners, the two make their way to the main shaft. A lift attendant spots the mother and son duo and frantically pushes the lever to go up.
Dylan runs to the lift to stop it. A hidden guard jumps Kselia. At her terrified scream, he spins back, casting Wind Bolts to push the guard away, then follows up with fire bolts, wishing he could cast his big spells without the mine coming down around him. He spins with a snarl and sprints for the rising lift. Dylan casts a wind spell to assist his jump, barely catching the edge of the lift. The terrified dwarf occupant smashes Dylan’s hands. Gritting his teeth, he pulls himself higher on to lift, rolling on to the rising floor and into the dwarf. Dylan’s foe pitches over the side with a scream that ends in sudden silence.
Dylan pulls the operating handle, reversing the lift downward. Then he snags a mine cart. “Ma I need you to climb in here, Then I will fill the ore around you, it should protect you enough, just in case. It will be uncomfortable. I know you are just an essence projection. I love you Ma. No matter what.”
“Dylando, you have said the strangest things today. I Love you too dear.”
The next floor of the mine brings stronger challenges. Dylan moves through the next two floors, killing Miners, overseers, and looting mana ore. At the top of the small mountain, Dylan finds the officers of the mining cartel and their guards. Fire Ball Spells do for the buildings and the surrounding infrastructure. As the explosions send dust and sound echoing around the complex. Several confused dwarves, humans, and a few elves, dressed in black and red run around screaming for help and for the guards to attack. The guards, looking to the skies, don’t see the attack from behind and fall quickly to Dylan’s Combined Spells. Steam, lightning, ice, and harsh winds throw the guardsmen in disarray. Many falling off of the cliff face to their deaths. The guard taken care of Dylan turns to cleaning the management of the illegal mine operation. Once the dust and smoke settle, Dylan surveys the result of his brief war.
‘No boss, where is the boss.?’ He thinks to himself. Dylan takes a moment to look around again, he notices a small shack to the north. “Ahh there we are, let’s see what we have.” Dylan and his mother walk to the shack.
“Griffin riders from the Western Empire, Dylan we have to hurry. They will most likely kills us.” His mother points to the west. With a look at the riders, he sees they also wear the black and red of the guards.
“Inside Ma.” The two step through the door, into an enchanted space bigger than the outside would suggest. The room is empty except for the glow of containment circles. Dylan looks over the spell, he nods his head. ‘Got you.’ He reaches his hand and touches the outermost circle and receives another announcement.
Caps here…….?New Quest found. Flight, Fight, or Flee. You have a choice for your ending. You can fight the enslaved Elemental. (Not recommended at your Tier and Level.) You can Flee the Western Imperial Troops and fight the Three sub-bosses instead of the Main boss. Or you can free the dungeon, boss. Choose one option.
‘Free the elemental.’ Dylan chooses. Using Earth Manipulation, Dylan smooths the floor of the shack. The runes making up the containment spell slowly fade as the first circle is broken. Dylan shifts focus to the next circle. The spell is harder to break as each circle is penetrated. The griffin riders land with a loud clatter of leather and metal. The sound of marching feet draw closer as he concentrates on the last circle. The door slams open, as the last circle is broken, and a small, three foot tall malformed human shaped form rises from the center of the last broken containment circle. The creature strides forward and slaps the griffin riders at the door. The riders fly off the mountain without their mounts screaming, the elemental bursts through the door and screams at the griffins. The griffins break their tethers, attempting to flee. Rocks fall from a clear sky, pounding the Griffins and riders alike. The ground rumbles from the force of the falling boulders. Dylan casts Fire Balls over the staggering formation of unmounted solderers. The elemental grows and stomps on the rest of the Western Empire soldiers, killing them all. The elemental shrinks down to human size and pats Dylan on the shoulder. Dylan reaches the realization of why the ore is so rich and offers all he has collected to help the elemental heal from its abuse. The elemental gives off a feeling of happiness and gestures to the dead two sacks float to the creature's hand. As it makes another gesture the bags fill. After a few moments, the creature hands the smaller bag to him. Once Dylan looks inside, he sees the bag filled with gold. The creature then hands the other larger bag filled with ore. Patting Dylan on the back once more, the elemental sinks into the ground.
Dylan’s mother screams, “Look we are saved, It’s the Empire of the East.” Dylan walks to the exit portal. “Be well Ma. I love you now and always.”
