First book tl;dr
Claire has spent the better part of a week in Llystletein. After interacting with Alfred Llarsse, a demigod, she is cursed with a catgirl fetish and tasked with destroying a mountain. She meets Sylvia along the way. Sylvia is a derpy half-fox, half-elf who serves as her guide through the dungeon.
Claire is disowned during the dungeoneering process and suffers from a mental breakdown before climbing the mountain, ascending into a new species that combines her parents’ traits, and returning from the destroyed mountain while feeling a deep sense of catharsis. It is revealed in an epilogue scene that her father allowed for her escape.

If you are coming from Amazon
The amazon version is a fully rewritten version that had several different plot events. What follows on RoyalRoad is the original, and you will find the following discrepancies:
- The RoyalRoad version’s writing style is inferior and does not develop into the Amazon style until later on. This primarily manifests in phrasing and italicized thoughts in the RoyalRoad version.
- The RoyalRoad version features a character named Geoff, who is a parody of a classic harem protagonist that believes himself to be the center of the world. Claire encountered this character while climbing the mountain. He is represented in the Amazon version as the captured subject when Alfred and Sylvia observe Claire as she climbs Borrok Peak.
- Claire started from a lower level in the RoyalRoad version and fought a larger number of foes near the start of the story.
- Conjuring exists as Wisdom in the RoyalRoad version.
- Some monsters are renamed.
If you are coming from the (now stubbed) rewrite
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
- The Amazon and original versions included an additional event wherein Claire murdered a bunch of bald squirrels.
- The Amazon and original versions include events where the characters Archibald and Beckard are introduced. Archibald is a half-mechanical, dog-man who helped to create the ravens. Claire stole her cloak from his house.
- The Amazon and original versions have Claire meeting more foxes than she does in the rewrite.
- Emotional subtext is slightly changed in the Amazon version; Claire is more depressed.
- Some monsters are renamed.
Future Version Differences
The second Amazon book will continue to branch significantly from the RoyalRoad original. Specifically, there are some minor plot differences due to Geoff’s removal and the introduction of a new citadel-associated character. Another similar document will be prepared when the second book stubs.
There will be significantly less branching in the third book and beyond, as the first arc is mostly self-contained.
