92 - Ride or Die First Victims Take on the Hyper Velocity Coaster

As the completion date for the Hyper Velocity Coaster drew closer, Jake finalized his list of victims.

In addition to Henry, Ryan, and Liam, Cindy was added to the roster.

Jake hadn't initially planned to include Cindy, but he figured she'd throw a fit later, and it was better to avoid the trouble, so he included her.

Once the list was finalized, Jake gathered all the employees just before the grand opening.

"You're probably wondering why I've called you here?"

"Rest assured, it's good news for everyone!"

Looking at the expectant faces before him, Jake felt a sense of satisfaction.

  See!

Everyone is actually quite excited about the new attraction!

  "Boss, are we getting bonuses?"

"If not bonuses, a few days of paid vacation would be acceptable!"

"If that's not possible, promote us to assistant park directors or something. That would be pretty awesome!"

The crowd was in high spirits, chatting excitedly.

A joyful atmosphere filled the air.

Amidst the anticipation, Jake cleared his throat and said slowly, "Next, I'm going to read a list of names. The people on this list will be involved in this great opportunity!"

Before he finished speaking, everyone stood up straight, chests puffed out, eyes fixed on Jake.

  "First, Liam!"

Liam, upon hearing his name, pumped his fist and struck a victor's pose.

  "Boss, I love you!"

Jake ignored him and continued, "Henry, Ryan!"

Henry and Ryan stepped forward, exchanged a glance, and both saw the undisguised excitement in each other's eyes.

"Senior, Jake is acknowledging our hard work, isn't he? Is he planning to pass on some of his expertise to us?"

"Definitely, Junior. We must seize this opportunity. If we can learn even a fraction of Jake's abilities, we'll be able to wipe out all the monsters in the world and make a name for ourselves!"

"Now there's only one name left," Jake paused.

  Only one name left!

Those present whose names hadn't been called held their breath, looking at each other, a sense of tension hanging in the air.

  "Cindy!" Jake continued.

"Yes!" Cindy clenched her fist and happily jumped out of the crowd like a rabbit.

  "Sigh, why wasn't I chosen!"

"Yeah, I work so hard. It doesn't make sense!"

Mike and Ethan sighed in disappointment.

Liam walked up to Jake and asked eagerly, "Boss, is this opportunity a promotion or a raise?"

Jake was taken aback. "When did I say I was going to give you a promotion or a raise?"

Liam was also stunned. "If it's not a promotion or a raise, then what could it be..."

He had a vague feeling that something was wrong.

Jake pointed to the winding water slide that was nearing completion in the distance, and said, "You will be the first lucky ones to experience the Hyper Velocity Coaster!"

"This is... good news?!" Liam's expression gradually froze, as if he'd been petrified by Medusa.

  "Isn't it good news?"

"Most people don't get this opportunity!"

"I wouldn't give this opportunity to the all-powerful U.S. President or the ridiculously wealthy Mark from the U.S., but I specially saved it for you!"

Liam felt a blackness descend before his eyes, the world spinning, and he could barely stand. Tears of disappointment flowed freely.

"I know you're touched, but you don't need to be like this!" Jake said earnestly.

At this moment, Mike and Ethan's moods were like a roller coaster, from the bottom of the valley to the peak in an instant.

"So that's the opportunity the boss was talking about!"

  "Holy crap, I'm glad I wasn't chosen!"

Ethan patted his chest with relief, overjoyed.

Mike pulled a small notebook out of his pocket and added another line.

The cover of the notebook read: Starlight Amusement Park Survival Guide v1.0.

Inside was already filled with dense writing.

  The top two lines read:

Motto: Prevent fire, prevent theft, prevent the boss, fight wits and courage with Jake.

Rule 1: When the boss's mouth twitches upward slightly, leave immediately, without delay!

  ......

Rule 8: The boss has cognitive impairment; his idea of "good news" is different from what normal people consider good news. If you encounter it, give it to someone else immediately.

Mike closed the Starlight Amusement Park Survival Guide and walked over to Liam, who was already crying.

"Liam, don't worry too much. It's not that scary!"

"Easy for you to say when you're not the one experiencing it!" Liam replied, sobbing.

"No, I'm serious. Think about it, this water slide doesn't seem to have anything particularly terrifying, like a sudden hundred-meter waterfall. It's just a little more winding than the water slides we've ridden before." Mike began to analyze rationally.

Liam's crying gradually stopped, and he stared at Mike.

"It's just a rafting trip. There's really nothing to be afraid of," Henry said with a smile.

Ryan nodded. "Since we were young, my senior and I have been practicing our agility on the rugged cliffs with our master. Compared to that, this is nothing."

"Yes," Cindy nodded and said, "I've been running to the bottom of the mountain every day for the past few days to see the progress of the Hyper Velocity Coaster."

"To be honest, I'm a little disappointed!"

In Starlight Amusement Park, besides Jake, Cindy was the happiest and most expectant when new attractions were added.

In the beginning, she would go up with Jake every day to check on things.

  "How so?" Liam asked.

"It's pretty ordinary. They just made the river channel a little more winding. It's not much different from the water slides in other amusement parks," Cindy replied. "But I haven't been there for the past few days. I figured it would be similar to what they've already done."

"If that's the case, then I'm relieved," Liam's eyes lit up, and he suddenly felt confident again.

"It seems that none of you have any objections, then follow me up," Jake said with a smile.

"Let's go. What is there to be afraid of!" Liam was full of enthusiasm.

He thought secretly, usually the boss teaches them a lesson, but today he will teach the boss a lesson!
