Chp 45: Amel

I watched through my mirror as the boy Jonah sweet-talked that girl Arriana into showing him the Nerve Fire poison, then watched as he poured it down her throat after a tousle. Afterwards he made her walk while under the potion and it was only Myra’s pity that saved the girl from further torment. I shivered. Would that be my fate? I mean I would be killing the boy’s friend soon and without my powers, I was helpless to him. He was a nasty piece of work as humans went and I knew Mother would leave me to his tender mercies when this was all over. Reality bent and my sister walked through.

“Mother truly did us a favor! The girl is hell-bent on reaching Ice Temple! Are your goonies ready, brother?” she asked.

I stretched and sipped my Martini. “ No, but they will be. Gyione has had a vision of Ice Temple,” I muttered, smirking and unmaking my glass into thin air before becoming Gyione again. I hated this disguise but it was almost time to reveal myself so I had to play the doting father-esque figure to these fools for a bit longer.

My sister laughed at my disguise. “This must be rankling you, I know it must!”

“It is,” I muttered in my voice before changing pitch to the fatherly tone I have picked to fool the council of morons.

“Come then, child. We must call the council and get this show on the road,” I said and she laughed poking me. She took the form of an old oracle.

“Let’s call the fools and get this over with.”

I smiled and led her out of my hole and into my room.

Calling the council was like calling a group of misbehaving children. Each was up to something secret that only I knew. Aithne was conducting a search for the girl as obsessed as her daughter was with the boy. Medina was reading some forbidden rituals to make Morgans more frightful. Gale was pondering if his children knew about him and hated him now. He was the most humane of the group. Siegfried was training his troops, the lughead, and Thorn was viewing Earth again. As a watcher, he could view any dimension and he picked that one? I didn’t know what went on in his mind and I wasn’t reading it. Better for my health. Never would I try to read another counselor's mind after Siegfried’s. It gave me nightmares for weeks!

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

Amelia and I hurried to gather them and soon they were all in the round room.

I stepped up. “My friend Abigail has had a vision. She comes to share it with the children,” I said and let my sister have the room.

“I have foreseen the girl you hunt will be at Ice Temple within two days. She will free the slaves kept there and announce your secret to the Kin,” said my sister. I smirked inwardly at the looks of surprise and fear on their faces.

“Can this be stopped,” asked Siegfried who gazed at Medina and back to my sister.

“Yes, but you must hurry to Ice Temple and stop the girl,” she said.

Medina narrowed her eyes. “ I will turn her into one of my creatures,” she said.

“No, there will only be a final death for her at Ice Temple,” my sister said.

“Who kills her? Is it me?” asked Aithne who was bouncing in her seat.

“That I do not know but I have foreseen death at Ice Temple and she is the cause.”

“You mean she kills us? Preposterous! Who is with her?”

“Why, your daughter and her band of soldiers as well as the otherworlder that arrived with her,” my sister said showing an image of the group in the mirror. It showed the otherworlders in conversation with each other behind them was a smaller male and a silver-haired girl and behind them came an assortment of Kin who were laughing and cajoling. To the end was Arriana and she seemed in pain. The group was going far slower than usual and it was because of Arriana. She seemed pale and was sweating and every few seconds moaned in pain.

“What’s wrong with my daughter?” asked Aithne, worried for her only child.

“She was fed her own Nerve Fire poison and made to walk it off after poisoning the other worlder girl.”

“That girl will die by my hands!” yelled Aithne and I smirked inwardly. No, she will die by mine indirectly, but they needn’t know that yet.
