@LOL_Evangeline: "What do you think about the exploitation of atomic energy for military weapons?"
One simple sentence. One question that looks like a normal academic discussion, but to anyone who knows who's asking it, it's not just a question.
The brains of everyone who read that started racing with all their might. Not because the question was impossible to answer, but because of who was saying it.
Evangeline is not a sane scientist. Even among those known as the most brilliant minds in modern history, Evangeline is still considered an anomaly.
The mad scientist, the wild dog, the destroyer of the morality of science, or any of the other epithets attached to her are not without reason. She doesn't care about boundaries, she doesn't care about ethics, she doesn't care about anyone's opinion. She only cares about science itself, about the creations it can produce, about its limitless exploration.
But more importantly than that, she never hid anything.
If there's anyone who knows the most dangerous secrets about the atomic energy experiments going on in the world, it's Evangeline.
If she did know about it, she would just say so. Not because she wants to leak confidential information, not because she wants to sell data to the other party, not because she has a hidden agenda; but because she just finds it interesting.
To Evangeline, if something was interesting enough to think about, then it was also interesting enough to do. This was what made everyone in this forum suddenly silent.
Not because they don't know what to answer, but because they are trying to understand what is really going on.
The participants in the discussion consisted of various categories of people. Some people started arguing whether this was a joke, or some other theoretical idea like the sor system.
But others supposed that far more diabolical possibilities existed. "What if this one isn't just another bad joke from her?"
"What if Evangeline really is talking about something real here?"
"What if there is some secret project under works somewhere, an experiment that no one outside a certain circle should know about?"
"Or worse... What if the project is not of a civil organization like CERN but belongs to developed countries possessing destructive means?"
"Does that mean something is going on behind the scenes?"
"So we touched something that we shouldn't have touched?"
Their assumptions and fears have a basis. The world's top officials who previously only acted as observers are now watching.
They are here, they are reading, they are listening to every word. To them, perhaps it's not just an intellectual conversation—it is a potential leak of high level information.
"Was Evangeline on purpose?"
"Does he really have information that he shouldn't?"
"Or... is he just pying around, as usual?"
Everyone in the post was wondering. Although of course, even if this was just a joke; it wouldn't be as simple as throwing feces in someone else's face, after all what was being talked about was a creature named "Evangeline".
Because one thing is for sure, Evangeline does not care about the repercussions. If she found something interesting, she would do it without caring about the repercussions.
It doesn't matter if it could cause panic, it doesn't matter if it could cause a diplomatic crisis, it doesn't matter if the entire world government suddenly pays attention to one point.
Others may feel this is a serious discussion, but for James, this is just foolishness that needs to be abandoned immediately.
After all, this is nothing more than a cheap prank that seeks to make him into a clown.
But unfortunately... James is the only one who thinks so.
James hates feeling pyed.
He was not one to be easily provoked, not the type who would waste time replying to empty provocations. But after seeing how this discussion developed, how every aspect of this forum made him a clown-he had had enough.
If they want to py games with him, then he will retaliate in his own way. He will not hold back against someone who seeks trouble with him.
Because James was sure, no matter how smart the people here were; his reply would not be easily parried.
Only James: "Nuclear energy, or rather the exploitation of atomic energy in a military context, relies on the basic principle of nuclear fission reactions that occur when the nucleus of a heavy atom, such as uranium-235 or plutonium-239, undergoes fission due to thermal neutron attack. In order to understand how nuclear weapons are made, one needs to understand. First of all: the mechanism by which neutrons can penetrate the target nuclei, what is the role of the instability of the excess neutrons in enabling that chain reaction to become uncontrolble, and how those processes can be performed to allow for maximal release of energy within the time interval of microseconds."
Sending a message, stretching his tiny hands, then continuing.
Only James: "Purification of the fissile material is the first process, that can happen by either gas centrifugation methods for uranium isotope separation or by chemical separation methods for plutonium extracted from spent fuel. In the case of uranium, we need at least 90% uranium-235 to be usable in weapons-I call it Highly Enriched Uranium (HEU). To purify uranium-235 from the naturally more abundant uranium-238, we use a gas centrifuge process with high-speed tubes that works based on the atomic mass difference between isotopes."
User named Lysander: "Wait, are you serious with this joke?"
Only James: "Yes."
James replied coolly, before he was interrupted by another comment.
User named Haruno: "We're talking about theory, right? Just theory?"
Only James: "There is no such thing as 'just a theory', this is science."
The user named Everett: "Damn, are you serious?"
Only James: "Of course, I don't like pying around."
James didn't hold back anymore, he expined each principle with a crity that could only be possessed by someone who already understood this concept far more deeply than anyone else on this forum.
Only James: "Once the fissile material has been enriched, the next step is the design of the explosive device itself. There are two main methods: the gun-type method used in uranium bombs, and the implosion method used in plutonium bombs. In the gun-type method, two halves of uranium-235 are separated in a metal sleeve, then combined with a conventional explosive bst to reach critical mass and initiate a fission reaction. Meanwhile, in the implosion method, plutonium-239 is formed in a spherical configuration surrounded by a yer of high-velocity explosives, which when simultaneously detonated will cause the plutonium sphere to undergo extreme compression, pushing it to supercritical conditions that trigger a chain reaction."
In some parts, other scientists tried to interject, trying to understand what was going on.
Unlike the sor panel theory where quite a few could accept the idea, there were no scientists who believed the information on the creation of nuclear weapons that James described. Except for scientists working on secret projects of developed countries and governments, and then everyone in the future who already knows the dangers of a little boy with eyes as dark as onyx.
User named Fang: "Wait, how can the implosion pressure work efficiently enough to produce a supercritical reaction?"
James showed no mercy, he retaliated with an intensity that honestly made little of him happy.
Only James: "Because we use high-explosive lenses that combine explosives with different detonation rates, such as RDX and Baratol, to create a spherical bst wave concentrated to a central point of plutonium. This wave must be calcuted with absolute precision, as otherwise the pressure distribution will be uneven, causing fizzle and explosion failure."
If there are people who still think that this is just a technical discussion, then they don't realize that what James just typed could be a blueprint for a weapon of mass destruction if someone really understands how to apply it.
But for James from modern civilization? This is just common knowledge that civilians can understand, although it's certainly not as easy as learning basic mathematical operations.
