Chapter 3

Reincarnated souls are a rare occurrence and are often rare commodities. Even rarer are souls from other worlds. They bring wonderous ideas and great change to our world. Not everything they try works however, but most they they try does. Every advancement they bring to us, is another step we take against the dark. Another step closer to eradicating the Demons that stain the face of our world.

  ~A Musing of a King

With Eris still looking a bit weary, I decided to take a look at my status again.

I was surprised. I gained 129 mana from such a short draw. It seemed like it was a pretty large amount, but it might be normal. I’ll ask Eris in a bit, but I was curious what other information I’d get from selecting ‘More Information’.

Four options replaced the ‘More Information’ tab. Each seemed pretty interesting, but I think I’d check out the creatures tab first.

The page was filled with information on several creatures along with mana costs. I didn’t know what the cost was for exactly, but I had an idea. It was probably better for me to ask Eris about it first. Plus there were the three garbled creature types that I was almost sure weren’t supposed to be garbled.

Eris was looking better now at least. Less pale, slight shakes gone, breathing steadied. Better to let her initiate conversation though. In the meanwhile I’d look through the other three tabs, but I doubted that the collected data tab had much in it.

I was rather disappointed by what the tabs contained. Just one trap type and three useless items that I could presumably create open to me. The collected data was more useful than those two tabs. I sighed mentally, I still didn’t understand what exactly was going on besides the fact that I had a new life now and that mana was incredibly important to my new life.

I watched Eris for a bit before I started to collect more mana. There was little else for me to do right now after all. Collecting mana was fairly easy too now that I could feel it. So I resumed carving the walls with the base energy I had left at the same time.

Time passed as I got lost in my carving. The room now covered in sprawling patterns and interspersed within various hidden symbols. They were traps, all non-lethal for now since Eris was still in the chamber. It was almost a compulsion to add them to the space. A way to protect myself. I had caught myself before I had added any lethal ones though.

Eris has been rather quiet though. Turning my attention to Eris revealed her sound asleep on the floor. She looked adorable curled up there, but it wouldn’t do in the long run. I should make an area for her to live in. I had pretty much the entire area around me to use. Later however, my soul still felt a bit raw at the moment.

Now how to wake her up? I didn’t have any base energy to interact with her and I don’t know if she can still hear me. No that wasn’t true, I had that mana stuff. I don’t know how to use it, but it feels a lot like the base energy I use. Could I use it to interact with her? Maybe.

SpoilerTables are a nightmare. Enough said. So a bit shorter chapter today, sorry about that. Enjoy.
