Is this… real?
When I opened my eyes, the world was burning.
I was lying on the ground. I could feel the heat press against my skin as flames swallowed everything around me.
Buildings collapsed. The sky glowed red and yellow, fire dancing like living creatures. People were screaming—yet strangely, those screams began to blur together, turning into something almost melodic. Like a song played at the end of the world.
Something warm flowed from my body.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
A glowing liquid—soft, thick, and red—spilled across the ground. It smelled metallic, sweet, and painfully familiar. Like wine. Like blood. Like it belonged to me.
And yet…
Right in front of me, a single flower stood untouched.
Its petals were clean. Unburned. Unmoving.
Fire circled it, light flickering like restless spirits, but the flower remained unharmed—completely separate from the destruction around it. My vision blurred as my consciousness began to slip. The world felt distant, unreal, as if I were sinking underwater.
Then I heard it.
A voice.
No—many voices.
Soft at first. Almost gentle. A song whispered from nowhere, drifting closer with each fading heartbeat.
(softly, almost fading away)
(the voice tightens, growing closer)
"Ohh… the four kingdoms…
falling down… falling down…
Ohh… the four kingdoms…
falling… and down…
Ohh… the darkness…
gathering… around…
gathering around…
Ohh… the darkness…
is here…
Ohh… the end… is here…
the end… is here…
Ohh… there’s nowhere to run…
nowhere to hide…
Ohh… the cursed one…
hiding inside… hiding inside…
Ohh… the cursed one…
watches us… watches us…
always watches us…
(the voice tightens)
Ohh… this end… is real…
this end… is real…"
The flower in front of me…
started to burn.
Silence fell.
And then—
A cold yet gentle voice whispered directly into my ear.
“Please… live… for me…?”
The sound faded.
Everything went dark.
