Chapter 66- Free Bird [2]

James, eyes clouded by anger is barely taking in anything Cilian says.

It's just noise to him, as he relentlessly releases high-power hits, none of which do any lasting damage.

He starts slowing down, his blows get weaker and his anger dampens.

He stops attacking for the first time in minutes, letting Cilian speak.

"I thought you'd gotten better but clearly I was mistaken..."

  "You're still to reckless."

"If any of those punches connected properly I would've died."

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"But you clearly didn't learn how to fight properly, or at least didn't retain any of the education."

  "So I'll teach you."

James looks astonished that his opponent is going to tell him how to win.

"In a fight, you must do one of two things."

"Either wait for an opportunity to attack."

  "Or make an opportunity."

"By recklessly attacking, you leave too many opportunities for retaliation."

"If I'd been fighting seriously, I could've killed you at least sixteen times over by now."

  "And that's being generous."

"By dodging, you're waiting for opportunities."

  "By blocking, you create them."

"Although, you can always go on the offensive, and either bypass both of those steps or make your opponent give you an opportunity."

  James seems to understand.

He attacks again, strongly but more controlled.

  This time he sees it.

A gap in Cilian's guard, he strikes it.

  Cilian catches the blow.

  "Good, you understand it."

"Now, use it in a real interaction."

He disappears from view again, barreling at James yet again.
