I feel as though bullying is becoming more and more normalized in this little world of ours, holding such a significance it is even present in the little screens that emit the same blue light, holding such a significance it is considered as horrible as man-made starvations, the land of the free becoming the land of the oppressed; and the children continuously being parted from their families, stripped of their humanity that was once provided by a simple emotion; empathy.
We wouldn't have children who cry in terror as the number of their years on this mortal plane depletes from 84 years to 84 seconds just because one person entered a building.
Can you still hear their screams and then the silence that follows their tiny hearts bursting?
And I am not so apprehensive of what we are today, rather of what today will bring tomorrow and the next, until we are no longer the eagles that soar in the sapphire skies of what is known as America.
The eagles and bees that make that sweet tang of paralysis for newborn children will take a more potent form.
And I wish that I couldn't compare bullying to what we are becoming today, but lately we have become the land of oppression and lack of empathy to the "aliens" from those foreign faraway places who do not bleach their skin white.
This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.
I am proud of the country I stand on because of the people I associate myself with, but lately that maladaptive day dreaming has become a living nightmare of lost dreams and the monsters I always feared.
My five-year-old self was right; there really are monsters in this world.
Instead of having a few individuals in our society telling me to kill myself and calling me a "fat chicken," it seems that the world is telling me this.
I don't want to live in the land of the oppressed. I don't want to live in a land where bullying is normalized and the people who told me to end my life at the ripe age of 11 don't receive their karma, their punishment.
It you do not treat others with humanity; you do not deserve to be mourned as a human.
The true aliens of this world are those who lack the empathy to see that words do hurt people. That a single statement can rip and completely devastate those who once had dreams and emotions and showed the humanity that those individuals need.
This is not the land of the free, this is the land of children living in fear and terror as their comrades are rained down with a barrage of shining bullets like the glitter that they used to finger paint with.
This is the land where we tell people to commit suicide left and right whilst calling it "rage bait," a tool to aggravate those who show they are human.
However, have you ever stopped to think that those around us seem so alien because we are alien?
What defines an alien more? You gender, race, skin-color, religion, or your lack of human decency and empathy to those who are also considered "human"?
