Chapter 3 "Whole New World"

Darkness blanketed Scott's vision, before he saw time and space begin to warp around his body—almost like he was traveling through actual space at the speed of light. It reminded him of Star Wars, with a collection of white, yellow, blue, and red light streaks flying all around him.

"Wow, is this what it feels like to go into hyperspace?" Scott wondered, looking all around.

After what felt like a long period of time, he finally appeared in the middle of a meadow. The dew on the grass was still wet, as if it were still morning, and the sun had just barely risen over the tree line to the east, or what felt like the east.

To give you a good sense of the surroundings, massive trees lined both sides of the meadow, with openings on top and bottom of a small hill. Three-foot-tall grass blanketed the ground with white and purple wildflowers, carpeting the area.

Seconds later an uneasiness settled over Scott. He felt as if his body and mind finally synced up after the initial space travel-or what he would believe to be space travel and his stomach was in knots which began to rumble and turn, a wave of nausea overtook him. His surroundings began to blur and spin around him while his sense of balance wavered until finally falling onto his knees. What came next was a whole lot of what he had for breakfast launching out of his mouth as he violently hurled up all of what was left inside his stomach.

“Oh,” Scott groaned. “That was a good breakfast too. Steak and eggs.”

A minute later Scott whipped his mouth off and stood back up. This time with his eyes coming back into focus he noticed something different. Far off in the distance you could see a mountain rising high above the clouds with three moons visible, one above and two on either side. That's when Scott figured out he wasn't on earth anymore. “Huh, Three moons. I guess we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto.” Scott said jokingly.

Slowly turning around taking in more of the view Scott noticed he wasn’t the only one standing in the meadow. A few feet away stood the Crew-David, George, Tomas, Peter, Osia, and Rick. After a moment of silence his hearing began to catch up with him. Scott could finally hear the gentle rustling of the leaves and grass in the breeze. His sense of smell also returned revealing the foul scent of vomit filling the air, mingling with the aromas of the nearby flowers, fresh plants and trees.

“What is this place?” Scott asked, looking over at the rest of the group.

“Don't know! Did you talk to the system as well?” David responded

“Yeah but the system seemed to cock block me on a bit of the information I asked for.” Scott said

“Yeah what did you ask?” Tomas chimed sarcastically, clearly annoyed with the whole situation. “I was supposed to have the rest of the week off to spend with family that just arrived in town last night, Dammit.”

“Yeah what he said,” Rick said, pointing a finger at Tomas. “Can we go home?”

“No, I didn't ask to go home. At least we're in a warm climate and from the looks of it we are in a new world seeing how I don't recognize a lot of these plants and I don't see any structures nearby.” Scott knew a bit about plants and shrubbery, Scott and his wife grew and cared for a garden every year throughout the non winter months.

“Oh look we have a genius in our mists,” Osia jeered, adding her two cents. “Scott says we are on a different planet.”

Scott ignored her comment and continued talking. “I got as much information as I could from the system and knowing that we're just in a tutorial means this is just the precursor to what's next. So, let's not get too attached to this place. That said, I think we should level up as quickly as possible to prepare for what's ahead. You don't want to be too weak against beasts like a dragon or some crazy overpowered yeti out here.”

“Hey, what class did everyone choose?” Tomas asked.

  “Slayer.” Scott answered quickly.

“Rogue, because I am all about the shadows and daggers man.” Rick replied

  “Druid.” David chimed in.

“Monk, since it better suits me because of my training in Wing Chun.” George replied.

  “Witch.” Osia said.

“Oh that suits you.” Rick snickered.

“What's that supposed to mean?” Osia inquired, “Go sit in your shadows and be quiet like a good little boy.”

  “Yes mommy.” Rick whimpered.

“Ok this is getting a bit weird.” Scott mumbled.

“I went with the class ranger.” Peter replied.

“I chose Necromancer since it's like the dark priest. You get the best of both worlds, healing and controlling the undead. Though I can only control things that are lower level as of now.” Tomas added. “Also check your gear so we have a good idea of what we have available to us. Oh and check the system to see if you have any quests or prompts for quests.”

Everyone nodded and checked their gear.

“Seems like I have all the basics, rope, backpack, mess kit, leather armor, potions and a few weapons.” Scott replied.

“Yeah I think we all have just about the same gear besides armor and weapons.” David said.

Checking the system menu, a menu screen appeared in their vision with just a mere thought and before them they could see it overlap the view in front of them. Well, all except Osia who was a bit lost on how the system worked.

“How does this system thingy work? and how do I see it?” Osia asked.

“Have you ever played video games?” Scott questioned.

“Ha! That old hag doesn't know what a game is,” Rick said with a smirk. "She’s from the stone age.”

“Hey, I'm not that old! I have watched my son play a few games, but honestly I got bored watching. So, ha not a useless old hag there tubby.” Osia shot back, glancing at Rick.

“Here, just think of it this way, think of us working on the computers at work or on a video game and you're looking through the menu. Now think about opening up the menu like you're clicking a mouse and it will pop up in your view.” Scott explained.

“Ah, there it is. Thank you Scott at least we still have one gentleman in the crew.” Osia continued.

**Survive 180 / 180 days left in the tutorial**

  **Survivors 5350/5351**

“Survive 180 days.” Scott mumbled while looking through the system. “Yeah i don't see any other quests besides Survive 180 days.”

  “Yep, same.” David replied.

Everyone besides David, Tomas, and Scott looked a bit under the weather after the space travel i.e. teleportation. Both Tomas and David always waited to eat until after lunch time so the dizziness and unease didn't affect them as much. Scott on the other hand could throw up one second and the next second be just fine.

With a groan Osia spoke “How are you two not affected like the rest of us and seriously Scott how can you throw up like that and act like it never happened?”

“It's because they're not normal.” Rick laughed a little before dry heaving once more.

“I've always been that way I guess.” Scott replied, shrugging his shoulders.

Tomas ignored Osia and watched with a watchful eye paying more attention to their surroundings rather than the crew's chit chat sensing something nearby.

"Well David, it finally happened! You got your wish." Scott said with excitement.

"Yep, and I didn't even have to go and jump in front of a moving truck to get here." David replied.

A noise came from up above in the meadow as a man screamed and a small roar followed.

"Shhhh," Tomas said quietly with his right fist raised in the air trying to hold back a laugh at what David just said. Then, with his left hand, Tomas pointed a little further up the hill in the meadow towards a strange creature hidden slightly in the tall grass. A dark purplish cat with tentacles on its sides, a long, spiked tail, and many large purple whiskers bobbing up and down. A few people in the group used the scan ability on the creature to see if they could get any good information before engaging in combat.

  [??? Level?]

“Oh great, I can't get a read on it, I don't see this creature's name or level, just question marks. The system must be broken or something. Where is the reset button to fix this?” Scott whispered to the group.

“Yeah I can't get a read on it either.” David whispered worriedly.

“I don't know about you? but I have a bad feeling about this.” Peter whispered.

Osia chimed in “Uh so i am new to this how do you Scan a creature?”

“Oh so we have an innate ability called [Scan] which is found in your abilities part of the menu. [Scan] allows us to see the creature's name and level. But in this case we can't see either. You can give it a try if you would like.” David explained, whispering to the group.

Osia tried to use the Scan ability on the creature and this is what she saw.

  [Deathstalker Level?]

So Osia smiles and reads “It is a Deathstalker.”

With a puzzled look the guys look at her before mumbling a few choice words.

“I guess when you're this good you just have it. Don't kill the messenger.” Osia whispered with a smile.

The beast raised its deep, dark purple head, revealing a maw covered in fresh, crimson blood, as it tore muscle and tendons from the bones of its latest victim. Afterward, the Death Stalker lowered its head back down and continued to feast on whatever prey fell to this monstrous beast. Its head continued to bob up and down slightly as it ate. Then the Deathstalker stopped chewing, raising its head once more to sniff the air, alert and semi aware of its surroundings.

For a moment everyone stood silent, trying not to move a muscle or draw attention of the beast. However, with the combination of their stench from their own vomit, mixed along with their body odors carried by the shifting morning wind towards the Death Stalker. A low, eerie growl could be heard as the beast lowered itself closer to the ground and slowly turned to face them, purple eyes gleaming with predatory intent.

At that point the crew lost sight of it, due to the tall thick grass. It slowly stepped over some of the remains of its prey, stalking silently towards the Crew.

Without any hesitation, David cast a spell called [Entangle(Standard)] and activated his ability [Transform (Medium Beast)] , shifting him into a black bear. Two vines shot out of the ground from beneath the Deathstalker attempting to trap it. But to no avail-the creature’s spiked tail swung back and forth barely above the grass, effortlessly cutting down both vines with ease.

The Deathstalker with its Dark Purplish hide blended seamlessly into the shadows, stalking forward slowly. Licking its maw clean of what was left on its face from any trace of the last victim while staring down at the crew of what could potentially be its next prey.

“I think we bit off more than we can chew here,” Peter whimpered, knocking an arrow and pointing up range towards the beast. “I think we should run.”

“We will be fine as long as we stick together,” Tomas assured Peter, holding a knife.

Being the impatient one Scott, dropped all of his bagged gear besides his sword and dagger, charged forward from his hiding spot in the tall grass. Step after step, he sprang closer in a dead sprint with the tall grass bending and breaking beneath every step. At that moment he knew that he messed up.

The Deathstalkers head sprang up above the grass, its jaw opened wide, and a single spiked tentacle shot out from its mouth from thirty feet away. The tentacle flew towards Scott at the speed of a bullet hitting him in the left shoulder and pierced through his armor like a spear. Scott stopped dead in his tracks and swayed a little as he roared in pain with the tentacle nearly dropping him to his knees.

Scott groaned in pain as he looked down to see the barbed tentacle begin throbbing and moving. He felt a warm liquid being injected into his body. A bit of the liquid poured out of his wound onto his armor which appeared to be a dark green poison, ruling out the possibility of the liquid being an acid since the fluid did not burn his armor or skin.

"Uh, Stay clear of its tentacle. I’m guessing whatever is in this tentacle is some type of poison. I mean, anything that is injected is either a poison, acid, or other sticky icky stuff, and yeah, I'm not a big fan of any of that.” Scott said while groaning in pain. He attempted to pull the tentacle out by pulling with his left hand but got nowhere.

Raising his short sword high Scott quickly chopped down on the tentacle and cut clean through leaving the barbed end embedded into his shoulder while the rest of the whip like tentacle of a tongue shot back towards the beast leaking the dark green fluid all over the ground making the beast yelp in pain.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

At that moment, he could feel his body fighting for its life as the poison began to travel through his blood stream. One big move and his life could be over in this new world, even before he had a chance to explore it. There was this nagging feeling that any movement could move the poison through his body faster and take him either completely out of the fight for good or if he was lucky just for this fight. So by first closing his eyes, Scott began to slow down his breathing just enough for his heart to slow down, also trying to slow down the adrenaline that was already pumping through his body. “I hope the rest of the crew could handle the Deathstalker without me.” Scott thought.

Listening, Scott could hear the battle going on in front of him. His breath now bated as worry started to set in. “If only I would have been fast enough to dodge the beast's attack then maybe I would still be in the fight.”

He opened his eyes and watched as the death stalker began to move towards him. “Well I guess this is where I die.” Scott thought. Just then Rick charged in with great speed and jumped through the air throwing his body into the side of the deathstalker stopping the beast's pursuit. Three quick stabs were thrown before he had to dodge backwards as the beast's spiked tail came flying towards him.

“I can't pierce its skin,” Rick yelled.

“Are you using the pointy side?” Osia yelled.

  “Yes.” Rick replied.

Seeing Scott struggling with his wound and knocked out of the fight so early, David made the decision to aid him. He ran up behind Scott and transformed out of his bear form back into his human form to heal him.

Fear started to set in as Osia watched the guys struggle to land a hit, being lost in thought and new to all of this, she stared at the beast in fear. Her face looked as if she was in a mix of shock and nearly in tears, as she stood frozen watching the battle unfold in front of her.

Looking around Tomas glanced backwards and noticed Osia standing there alone and moved to her side. “I know this is a lot to take in right now but I need you to breathe and focus. Can you do that for me?”

Osia nodded slowly, not letting her eyes leave the Deathstalker for a second.

“Okay, I need you to open up your menu and tell me what Spells you have, so we can get a good grasp on what you can do.” Tomas continued

  “Not sure,” Osia replied frantically.

“Well figure it out and get into the fight.” Tomas commanded.

Standing ten feet away to their right, Peter Let loose his first arrow completely missing. “Falling short under pressure, huh Osia?”

“I hope you shoot yourself in the foot.” Osia shot back sarcastically.

With a cocky grin on his face, Peter adjusted his feet trying to create a wider more stable stance for his next shot. Then he pulled an arrow from his quiver and knocked another arrow. In the process of him getting in his stance his left foot stepped forward and had landed on a wet mossy rock hidden in the tall grass he adjusted his weight back and forth lifting his right foot causing him to lose his balance and fall backwards.

Normally in this instance, one would remove the arrow from the bow and release the string, which is not good for the bow, but it wouldn't have shot a random arrow. Unfortunately at this moment Peter wasn't a skilled archer in this case. As Peter fell backwards he dropped his arms down to his legs and his left leg shot up before letting go of the arrow to catch his fall with his hand causing the free flying arrow to shoot forward hitting Peter's own foot as he hit the ground with a thud. “Dammit all.” Peter roared in pain as blood began trickling from his boot.

“See, that's what you get for mocking me.” Osia said to Peter in a cocky tone.

At that moment Scott watched George move in for a palm-heel strike to the head of the beast, trying to catch the beast off guard on its blind side. He wanted one good strike, hoping to take the Deathstalker out with one fell swoop while the beast was distracted by Rick.

Unfortunately, the Deathstalker heard the incoming footsteps, turned to see George's attack, lowering its head just enough to dodge. Shifting its body, the beast opened its jaws revealing rows of sharp, jagged teeth, before lunging, and grabbing hold of George's bicep.

In a horrifying instant the Deathstalker began tossing George all around like he was a little girl's rag doll in the mouth of a pitbull. Blood began spraying out of George's arm covering the ground beneath, staining it all crimson. The beast's massive jaws pulled and tossed George around, dislocating his arm from his shoulder, until he finally passed out from the blood loss and pain and was hanging within the creature's jaws.

“Good luck” Tomas said as he saw the attack on George and seeing how dire the situation had become. He left Osias' side, and a loud yell came out of Tomas while running forward “Ahhhhhh,” To get the beast's attention while moving past Scott and David.

This distraction allowed Rick another opportunity for an attack, which he wasn't going to waste. He closed in once more, striking from behind, trying to find a weak spot. Stabbing and slashing, he sought purchase, but no matter what Rick did, he couldn't penetrate the thick skin. Dodging backwards once again as the spiked tail lashed out to fend him off.

David noticed that Scott's condition had improved enough to put him back into the fight. Stepping out from behind Scott, he began channeling [Entangle(Standard)] once more. Two more vines shot out of the ground, this time grabbing hold of two of the rear tentacles and somehow wrapping up around the back side of the tail, limiting movement of the tail. Slowing the tail down just enough for Rick to get out of the way.

After a few frantic swings with the tentacles the beast was stuck. The beast looked up and roared in frustration as it looked like the crew were gaining the upper hand finally dropping George from its jaws to try and free itself from the vines. Using the ability [Transform(Medium Beast)] back into a black bear once again before charging the beast head on finally entering the fight.

As David ran by, Scott finally felt like his body was back to normal again, so with a boost of renewed energy he charged forward nearly catching up to join David on the charge forward and just as David went in for a bite, Scott slid to the right side swinging his blades towards the beast's right side before dragging both blades across its thick dark purple hide. Which left two large gashes across its side.

David's bite missed as he slammed into the beast before getting pushed back by the other two tentacles holding David just out of reach.

George finally came to, rolling over he began to crawl away. Feeling weak from the loss of blood and the poison now coursing through his veins. He continued to crawl away until he felt like he was far enough away from the beast and just as he was going to reach into his bag to grab a potion he passed out.

“Man if we keep up like this, George is going to die.” Scott Yelled.

Tomas said in a cold monotone voice, “Stay focused, Scott, and clear your mind.”

Getting up from the blood stained ground, Peter pulled the arrow free. He stuck the arrow into his mouth and bit down hard on the shaft, fighting the pain, while reaching back for another arrow, knocking it into his bow. This time the arrow let loose at his attended target finding purchase as the arrow penetrated the Deathstalker's shoulder.

Seeing his opportunity Tomas stowed away his knife and pulled out his big wooden staff tucked away beneath his cloak. The staff had a large knot on top of it looking more like a maul then a wooden staff. He stepped forward swinging the staff like a baseball player swinging for a home run, knocking the fletching part of the arrow as hard as he could, embedding the arrow deeper into the beast's shoulder.

A yelp of pain rang out and the beast finally let go, allowing David to go in for another bite. His teeth sank in and he ripped part of the beast's chest out.

David went in for a bite to the throat, only to be met with a paw and claw to the chest, holding him just inches from the beast's face. The Stalkers sheer power forced David to the ground.

With the beast distracted, Peter loosed another arrow, which flew true and sunk into the Stalkers throat, causing the beast to flail wildly. The beast let go of David before clawing at the lodged arrow trying to save its own hide until finally falling to the ground with labored breath allowing David to go in for the final blow. Jumping on top of the stalker, David sunk his teeth into the back of its neck and held the beast down until finally it succumbed to its injuries.

"Well, fuck. that was a little more than what i expected." Scott said as he started to pull the spiked tentacle out of his shoulder and kicked the Stalker a few times to ensure it was dead. Then he took a cloth and shoved it into his shoulder and walked off to find his weapons.

David got off of the beast and spit up all the toxins before transforming back into his human form. Then he proceeded over to George and Tomas to assist in healing. After all of the combined effort by Tomas and David nearly depleting their mana storages, George was conscious and breathing but still in rough shape. “Your arm is still in rough shape but if you drink one of your potions it should do the trick.” David Said. “In normal circumstances I would say don't use the healing potion unless you are in dire need, though in this case I believe that the potion will help close up the remainder of your wounds now that the toxins are cleansed from your body.”

Nodding and taking David's advice, George grabbed his one health potion and with his good arm lifted the bottle up to his mouth popped the cork using his teeth and downed it. In real time you could see his arm slide back into place and the wounds finally closing before he spoke. “Thank you.”

“Hey Peter, have you ever shot a bow before?”Osia laughed.

“Yeah, what happened there?” Scott chimed in.

“Heh, I slipped on a wee mossy rock and tumbled,” Peter explained, trying to stop the bleeding from his own foot now sliding his boot off to treat the wound.

“Any of you happen to have some spare healing?”

“Oh, I see. What you're saying is you don't know how to walk,” Osia said with a cocky grin.

laughing in a bit of pain, Peter replied “Fuck no, not on mossy rocks, obviously.”

The crew, still in good spirits, started laughing, and tended to their wounds as best they could until David and Tomas worked their healing magic now that George was good.

Scott sat down on the nearest rock to apply pressure to his shoulder, hoping to stop the bleeding. Reaching into his bag, he pulled out the [Healing Potion (Common)] and uncorked the bottle to chug it down, when all of a sudden, David put a hand over the top of the bottle and shook his head.

"Save it. I can heal you with my nature magic. I have a few more left in the bank." David said before pulling out the rag and using his healing on Scott’s shoulder.

"Alright, bud, but I don't want you to use up all of your mana on me. How many spells do you have by the way?" Scott asked curiously.

"I have a little mana to spare, but it's getting dangerously low. Which is pretty nice, come to think of it- Especially at a low level." David replied.

"So, care to enlighten me on what spells you have?" Scott asked curiously.

"Well, so far I have a [Healing Touch (Common)], which is as good as that potion you're holding in your hand. Also, like you saw [Entangle (Standard)], [Transform (small animal)], and [Transform (Medium Animal)]," David replied happily. “But there is a time limit to my transformations as of now, and I can only transform four times a day.”

“Very nice,” Scott said, giving David a high five after moving his arm around to check his shoulder. “Just like new. Man, I wish we had this magic back home before the system.”

“Heh, yeah would have been nice to have when I put a rod through my hand back in Science class.” David said.

"Well, guys, I think we need to find a base camp and a place to rest.” Tomas said. “We will also need some running water and food,"

"What is this place, and why are we here?” Osia asked.

"I believe we have been transported to this place by some higher power in an Armageddon style isekai by the System.” Scott chimed in.

"You say that as if it's a good thing," Osia continued

"Yes and no. I believe it's going to be a fun experience compared to the old nine-to-five. But on another note I also don't know what has happened to my family, so I am worried about them." Scott replied

Using his transformation spell again this time changing into a shrike, David took flight to get used to his new bird form and get a bird's eye view of the area. While Scott walks up to the stalker and gets an idea. Pulling out his knife he begins to skin the Stalker. “Hey, can I get a few minutes to skin this bastard before we leave? I mean it is our first kill and everything, plus we can't let good skin go to waste, right?”

“Yeah but make it quick. We need to find a place to camp before the sun goes down for the night. I don't want to be caught outside in the dark with our pants down if there are more of these Stalker’s lurking about,” Tomas replied.

With no time to waste, Scott got to work skinning the Deathstalker. The process took him around thirty minutes. Since it was his first time, he also pried out the teeth before bunching it all up and tying it off into a big ball of leather. Meanwhile, George cut off a few good chunks of meat, wrapped it up in a cloth and stowed them into his bag.

“Hey, guys. You're going to want to have a look at this,” Rick said in disgust.

Everyone from the crew made their way over, and David flew down and landed on Scott's shoulder as they approached the prey the Deathstalker was gnawing on. It wasn't pretty. What they could gather was that this was once a human, and the face was half gone, along with this person's left arm that was torn from its body. Osia pointed out something on the ground, a piece of bloody skin with a hole through it. Flipping it over with a stick the group studied what looked like half of this person's face for a moment.

“Feck, isn't that Kenny from accounting?” Peter announced, now crouching down to get a closer look.

“Nice guy and all, but it was Kenny from accounting.” Osia replied with a snicker, while covering her nose from the stench now emanating from the freshly torn corpse.

Flying off Scott's shoulder down next to the corpse and transforming back into his human form David squatted down to examine the corpse in detail before speaking “So, Is anyone going to say it?” David said with an evil smile. All of us stopped and stared, clueless at what David was implying. “No one? Come on, guys. Who killed Kenny?”

“Yeah, the Deathstalker killed Kenny.” Scott chimed in not getting the joke right away.

“Ah, I loved that show. Good one, dude.” Rick said with a smile, Now giving a nod and a fist pump to David.

“Oh, oh you meant the park show of the south. Ha ha,” Scott replied, now feeling completely embarrassed.

David shook his head in disappointment before transforming once more and flying off.

The crew took some time to bury Kenny, and of course, went through his gear to see what he had. It looked like Kenny chose to be a rogue, judging by the base of his gear. They found a black tattered cloak, two daggers, a short sword, and a set of light leather armor that was too chewed up to be used for anything.

Tomas took the cloak, since he loved the color and the tattered look for his necromancer build. Naturally, the daggers went to Rick to add to his now-set of four. The short sword was given to Osia since all she had was a wand. I mean who's to say that a witch couldn't carry a sword?

After they finished burying Kenny, The crew finally checked out their system messages.

  [First Kill in Tutorial]

The very first kill achieved in the world's history of the tutorial, this title is a mark of Scott's innate potential and swiftness. It represents a foundational level of power that he will carry with him throughout his journey. This is a permanent, passive benefit that cannot be lost or removed. Passive Effect: Trial by Fire: Having demonstrated his prowess at the very beginning of his journey, Scott's combat instincts have been permanently sharpened. He gains a permanent 2% increase to all damage dealt, whether it is physical or magical. This bonus applies to all his attacks and abilities from Level 1 onward.

  [Skinning Common (lvl 1)]

Skinning is a craft that uses skins/hides of animals and beasts to collect the necessary ingredients for leatherworking and other types of crafting.

“Ok, even though the skin turned out like shit. I mean the skin literally looked like Swiss cheese with holes all over the place because of all the wounds and the tentacles. The upside is, I still got a level in the skinning profession and learned a new skill,” Scott thought. He took a second to Scan the leather to see how bad it was and to how well his scan worked.

  [Deathstalker Skin(Common)]

Even though the Stalkers skin can be used for fine leather armor and/or some other types of equipment, this particular skin was poorly skinned and can not be used for anything besides a poorly made bedroll.

“Well, that says it all, I suck at skinning. But as we all know, time and experience will change that. I just need a bit more practice.” Scott thought.

He gets up to stow the skin in his bag, to hear a chuckle coming from Rick.

"Ha ha ha, Well, it looks like your skinning is sub-par, Scott." Rick said with a crooked smile.

"Eh yeah, I need a little bit of work on skinning. But it was my first time, so I call it a win," Scott said with a smirk.

Tomas interrupted both of them and took charge as he took a look around at everyone and said, “Well, since I'm best suited as the crew leader I'll take over. Let’s get moving before the sun goes down.”

Without any objections, the crew nodded in agreement with the ex-marine and packed everything up to get a move on.
