A Wandering Knight

Many children could be seen playing with sticks as if they're swords under the careful watch of their parents.

Child: With the grit of his teeth he struck his friends stick with a downward slash

His friend responds with a smirk and puts his stick in a defensive position.

Child: “Weak attacks like that won't work against me!”

He said with confidence as he began his flurry of consecutive attacks, but this play fighting would be cut short when a sole horse could be heard in the distance nearing the small town on the western edges of the Sunlit Kingdom. There was a woman riding upon it clad in polished armor with gold highlights, the detailed inscriptions upon the armor you would never see in the borders giving off a shine to the eyes. The children's attentions were quickly averted to the woman on the back of the horse which also gave way to the adults panic. Thankfully as the unlikely guest came into sight they did not seem to be hostile, while dismounting her horse she spoke.

???: “I am a wandering knight from the Sunlit, Hera, be sure to remember it. Now I wish to speak to the village chief, bring me to them.”

a noticeable tremble can seen in the villager when she speaks

A young mother: “I-I see, would you mind waiting he–”

Before the woman could finish her sentence the knight would interrupt her with a flash of her iron.

Hera: “Do not make me repeat myself, Bring me to them”

The young mother would nod in fear before guiding the knight to where the Chief lived slowly, the other villagers took notice of her slowed pace and sprinted toward the chief's house. Hera noticed their hurry but overlooked it with a thought

Hera(Thoughts): “This is the third village I've been to now, if only the king had been more specific with the calamity's whereabouts I wouldn't have to suffer in this dreadful place. Luckily this is still a chance to get a huge achievement since this calamity is still pretty weak right now I've heard. The kill should be worth at least Heroic”

A countless sea of people numbering over tens of thousands gathered in front of a luxurious castle fashioned in gold and quartz as a figure stood above them all. His name was Leon Alexsis the fifth.

His steps heavy as he walks with purpose, with pride.

The king steps forward looking over his citizens, most cheering his family name, some waiting for the announcement… the announcement that a calamity has been detected.

A horn signals the beginning the kings speech

Leon: “My people of the Sunlit. We are blessed to have been born in this paradise, I of all people know this. We are the special, the few chosen, and yet… it seems the curse of the calamities has been bestowed upon someone within our glorious land. PEOPLE OF THE LIGHT! I ASK YOU THIS! IS THIS ACCEPTABLE!?”

  People of the light: “NO!”

Leon: “IT IS TIME TO PURGE THE CURSED WITHIN OUR HOLY LAND! MY SOLDIERS SHALL SEE TO IT THAT ALL THE WICKED CREATURES OF LIGHT WILL PERISH. WE ARE THE CHOSEN! WE ARE THE SUNLIT!”

Hera walked through the village purposefully as she followed avoiding areas she found to be dirty. The houses seemed sloppily made, there were no sidewalks made which was typical for a village at the outskirts.

Hera: “How much longer must I walk?”

The young mother: “W-Were almost there”

Hera: “do not stall any longer. Speed up, my patience grows thin”

  The young mother: “Yes..”

The chief's house is in chaos with the multiple villagers who had frantically come to announce the unexpected arrival of the knight.

Villager: “Haa haa haa, A KNIGHT! A KNIGHT HAS COME!” He says gasping with his hands on his knees for air after fully sprinting his way to the house.

The chief in shock of such a revelation

  Chief: “For what reason?!”

Villager: “She said she wanted to talk to you” he said trying to calm down

Chief: “Shit shit… why would a Knight come here…. Which kingdom are they from??”

Villager: “The Sunlit...” The villager looked the other way

Chief: “WHAT!??... well… seeing as we’re not all dead it doesn't seem like she came here looking to kill us… say, what rank did she look to be?”

Villager: “She introduced herself as a wandering knight.”

The chief puts his hand up to his chin as he thinks about the reasons the knight may have come other than extermination of outsiders who live in the borders of the Sunlit Kingdom.

Chief(thoughts): “So she's come looking for an achievement… but there's nothing to note around these parts so.. She must know something we dont… hmmm…”

Chief: “EVERYONE! Listen up. We don't know why a knight has come but pretend as though we do, got it?? For our survival!”

The villagers all nod before setting up a space to talk to the knight and then promptly scattering off to their houses as the knight encroaches. The flowers arranged neatly, the floor swept while the living room was made to become presentable to have a conversation in until the knight had finally given a knock onto the door. The chief opens the door greeting the Hera with a smile,

  Chief: “Welcom–”

Hera: “Enough, I do not wish to prolong my stay. I have questions to ask”

The chief prepared and ready asks

Chief: “How may I help you miss Knight?”

Hera: “.... hmm… seems you know your place.”

She says before walking past the chief and sitting down onto the couch, the chief follows and does the same onto the opposite end.

Chief: “May I ask why you’ve come to a place such as this?”

The Chief questions hoping to get a hint as to how to survive this situation even if he has to lie and bluff his way through, Hera takes note of this and thinks of a response, one that doesn't explain everything but gives enough information for the chief to be of help.

Hera: “Hmmm… Very well, the reason for my sudden visit is because I need some information about the location of someone.”

Chief: “May I know of any more specifics?”

Hera: “Yes. Do you know of anyone in this village who comes off as strange? Or perhaps out of the ordinary?”

Chief(thoughts): “do we have someone like that?.. maybe a criminal? No… I don’t believe so... hmm, since she already seems to be pissed lets not think for too long but lets pretend to think of who while I think of how to get past this. Maybe I could tell her the truth and she'll just leave?”

The Chief looks up at the knight but is met with an annoyed scowl so he quickly goes back to thinking.

Hera(thoughts): "Has he gone senile? hes taking a while to answer this question. I suppose these people dont know either. Here I was hoping too–"

Before Hera has time to think anymore the Chief speaks up.

Chief: "I believe we know of some rumors and things of the like, they don’t live near here anymore though"

Hera(Thoughts): "and here I thought I wasted my time again. good save old man"

  Hera: "Speak"

The chief lets out a sigh of relief and speaks of stories from years ago when a woman used to live in the village.

  Chief: "The stories went like..."
