After the results were announced, all the instructors accepted the final outcome.
“Okay, everyone,” Rainor said, “now that all the qualified students have selected their academies, be ready for departure without any delays. Instructors of the respective academies will now take you directly to their academies in their academies’ battleships.”
“What, battleships? Not wind-planes?” Student 33 blurted out.
Student 25 stared at him. “Where did you live your whole life till now, in some kind of cave? Until you become an awakener and reach the Communication Realm, you have to take wind-planes when travelling long distances, and you’re not allowed on battleships. Battleships are open planes covered in energy shields and are mainly used for entering places with high energy disturbances, and it’s impossible to withstand those fluctuations as a non?awakener without someone’s help. But once you become an awakener, you’re allowed to travel on battleships since you can cover yourself in your own spirit energy without anyone’s help. The reason we’re taking battleships instead of wind-planes is because all the great academies are located in places with high energy disturbances.”
After hearing him, a few students who already knew but had forgotten remembered the details and fell silent.
Ramyas raised her hand and released something from a space inscription on her hand. “Okay everyone, get onto the ship. We’re already late.”
“Wow, there are two inscriptions on Instructor Ramyas’s hand,” Student 22 whispered. “One might be the contract inscription for storing her contract beast, and the other is for storing the battleship she just released.”
Evan also raised his hand and released a battleship from the inscription on his skin. He had only one visible space inscription, used for storing things.
“All the students who chose our Twilight Greenland Academy can get into the ship when you are ready,” Evan said with a cool tone.
Kaigal raised his hand and released a battleship of the same grade as the others. “Okay everyone, it’s time to leave and enter the ‘heaven of the wild’,” he said. “So all students, get in.”
The students were not surprised to see three contract inscriptions on Kaigal’s hand. Without any explanation, they understood what that meant.
“All the students who chose our FMA—Frontwall Martial Academy—get ready and enter the ship,” Robert said, waving his hand and releasing his battleship.
“Hahahah!” Grandellion called out. “Hey, Winay, once I complete the task given by my family, I’ll be coming for you at Infinite Academy. So remember to keep your skills polished. Haha, I’m going to cut apart that best skill of yours that you used against that final boss!”
Winay just smiled.
“Ha, this dumbduck again,” Gonad muttered. “Now I can’t even say he’s just all talk and bragging. Whatever he says, he somehow ends up achieving it, and now he’s even saying more rubbish here.”
“Okay, Wini, I’ll be leaving now,” Gonad said. “Let’s be in touch. Just send me a message whenever you come to our academy for taking tasks.”
“Sure,” Winay said.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
Aarna smiled at Winay. “And don’t forget me. You owe me one…”
What? Is she talking about the Trial Grounds? But I also helped her, right? Well, I can’t say that out loud… he thought, and simply said, “Yeah, sure…”
All the students boarded their respective academies’ battleships.
Before the instructors departed, a sharp voice rang out. It was Robert.
“All the students who are entering the new world of cultivation, remember this,” he said. “You may be entering different academies right now, but at the end of the day we, as humans, unite against a common enemy. So work hard, improve your skills along with your cultivation, and don’t lose your lives early by neglecting your opponents. Also, always remember not to be careless. That’s it.”
After hearing that, a few students clearly understood the intent behind Robert’s words, while others responded on instinct.
“Yes, Sir, understood. We will keep that in mind…” many of them shouted.
“Okay, Sir Robert, we will be leaving now. See you, Rainor,” Ramyas, Evan, and Kaigal said, then left with their ships.
“So, Rainor, you only got one student this year, huh?” Robert asked with a teasing smile.
“Well, it’s always like this, right?” Rainor replied. “Our admissions are open only for 200 students each year, and most students won’t get the same opportunities as the elite students. If the applicants don’t meet the requirements, they have to take the qualification test again, so most students think of it as too much hassle and too hard.”
“Well, that is true,” Robert said. “If not for their families’ tasks having priority to be completed within Frontwall Martial Academy, most of the students from these prestigious families would have chosen your academy instead of ours. Hahaha.”
He grew serious. “Anyway, coming to the main topic. I received a report last night. It said Frontwall’s 3rd Division has found nearly 10 corpses of high?level aberrant beasts and 2 corpses of dread beasts. The investigation is still going on, and no one has been able to identify the actual cause yet. But we do have some hypotheses on this, and I might even need your help.”
“Looks like your hypothesis is based on last year’s mission we conducted together,” Rainor said. “But wait…” He glanced at Winay.
“It’s fine,” Robert said. “Nothing will change even if he listens to our talk. He’ll eventually have to know all of these things, and since he is going to join your academy anyway…”
“You are right, Sir Robert,” Rainor said. “I was just thinking in the old way. But you’re correct—from the past 2 years, Infinite Academy has changed its way of teaching by making all the students, including new ones, participate in both mini and major tasks.”
“Yes,” Robert agreed. “Okay then, I’ll have to leave; the students are already waiting. But try to consider what I just said. If my hypothesis is correct, I will definitely need your support. I don’t want to take Frontlines’ support in this topic, so think about it…”
“Don’t worry, Sir Robert,” Rainor replied. “This is very important for us, so I will definitely support you. Just keep me updated about the status.”
“Hahaha, I knew you would say that,” Robert said. “Since it might take at least 2 months to confirm this incident, you can be at ease for some time. Okay then, until then—see you.”
“Sure,” Rainor said, sending everyone off.
He turned to Mirai. “Miss Mirai, I think from here on you’ll be able to take care of things, right? Like always, you can finish this year’s students’ admissions as Vice Headmaster. I have high belief in you.”
“Yes, Headmaster,” Mirai said. “In 3 days, all the first?class academies from the MoonReach District and other major districts like Lampton and Koladar will come for admissions like always. I will follow the same rules as every year.”
“That’s good to hear from you,” Rainor said. “Then I will be off.”
He raised his hand, and an inscription with a bluish?white light glowed on his skin. In that moment, something emerged from the contract inscription—a long white neck with a red?and?black beak, its presence shining with quiet brilliance.
“It looks as brilliant as always, seeing your Lunar Swan, Headmaster,” Mirai said.
Rainor laughed and asked Winay to come up onto the swan. He said, “Since we have a long distance to go, it’s best to go on Lunar instead of a battleship. So, let’s go.”
After getting on Lunar’s back, Winay looked around. “Woah, it’s very big. From here, it looks like it can carry more than 10 people. Nice.”
“Lunar, you can now take off,” Rainor said.
With those words, the Lunar Swan flew above the School of Infinite and started to move toward the south.
